Betty L. Gorczyca

LOWVILLE — Betty L. Gorczyca, 88, a resident of the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, passed away Sunday morning, June 18, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Old Glendale Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 1 – 3 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility Activities, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367; or to the Singing Waters Senior Citizens, in C/O Vada Marolf, Treasurer, 6723 River Road, Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by seven children, Gary Gorczyca of Bar Harbor, ME; Wayne Gorczyca of Utica; Linda McCormick of Fredonia; Bruce Gorczyca and his companion, Louise Gozalkowski of Glenfield; Tina and David Bradley of Rochester; Melanie Gorczyca and her companion, Ron Bishop of Ackworth, GA; Alan Gorczyca and his companion, Donna Roberts of Turin; her daughter-in-law, Margaret “Podgie” Gorczyca of Lyons Falls; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Rodney Thomas Gorczyca, who died November 3, 2008.

Betty was born on June 9, 1929 in Kirkland, NY, and was adopted by Floyd and Irene Manzer. She graduated from Lowville Academy. Betty worked a Ver’s Restaurant, John’s Grill, AMF, and later Kraft Foods. She retired from Kraft after working many years on the production line. Betty married Walter Gorczyca. After many years, the marriage ended in divorce.

Betty was of Methodist faith. She was a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the Singing Waters Senior Citizens. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, making clothes and cooking.
