Geoffrey J. Wheeler

Geoffrey J. Wheeler, 47, of 417 Lachenauer Drive, Watertown, passed away in Syracuse on July 6, 2017.

Geoff was born March 3, 1970 in Syracuse, son of John and JoAnn Cullen Wheeler. He graduated from Watertown High School and was a proud graduate of Colgate University where he majored in Political Science and played varsity football. Geoff was employed with Carrier Enterprises as Materials Manager, North America for the past fifteen years.

He married Suzanne Troendle on June 27, 1997 at the Wellington House, Fayetteville, NY.

As a youth Geoff played minor hockey and was a member of the Watertown Peewee team that won the New York state Class B championship in 1982 and was a leader of the Watertown High School Football team that was undefeated in 1987, winning the North Country Super Bowl. Geoff enjoyed coaching youth sports, including hockey in the Syracuse area. Throughout his life Geoff enjoyed summers at the family cottage at Lake Bonaparte, NY.

Geoff was known to many friends and family for his kind heart and generous spirit, He cared for people greatly and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Surviving besides his parents are a daughter, Eleanor Grace Wheeler, Syracuse, her mother Suzanne, two step children, Andrew and Rachel Powell, Syracuse, two sisters, Erin (Christopher) Shortt, Niskayuna, NY, Megan (Daniel) Mettmann, Midvale, UT, several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm, July 11, 2017, at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Pushpadason Santhantony officiating. Burial following the funeral in Brookside Cemetery.
