pGREIG – Mabel E. Bauer, 95, formerly of Sweeney Road, Greig, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility./ppA funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Chapman, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Brantingham Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367./ppShe is survived by her children, Susan Davenport of Dacula, GA; Lois Sessions and her spouse Margaret, of Freeville, NY ; Joan Longway and her husband George of Newport, NY ; and Steve Bauer and his wife Terry, of Greig; twelve grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Covey of Pennysettlement. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel, who died in 1995; her children, Diane Mary Winiarski; Robert Allen Bauer; Daniel Frederick Bauer; and a grandchild, Michael Lyga; a son-in-law, Stanley Davenport; a sister, Marion Callowhill and five brothers, Warren, Clyde, Allen, Donald and Robert Covey./ppMabel was born on March 2, 1921 in Lyonsdale, NY, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Hall Covey. She attended Lyons Falls School. She married Daniel Bauer on August 31, 1940. Mabel was a mother and a homemaker. She was an active member of the Greig United Methodist Church. Mabel was famous for making specialty cakes such as wedding cake and pies, often making up to thirty of them at a time for bake sales. She always remembered people’s birthdays, and honored them with a card, pie or cake. Mabel was a very caring and loving person, never thinking of herself; she lived for her family.
