She was born on August 14, 1962 to the Late George & Veronica House in Watertown, New York. /ppShe is survived by her mother, Veronica House, Watertown; several siblings, Glen House, Copenhagen; Clifford House, Calcium; Raymond House, Carthage; Stella Smith, Brownville; Maryanne House, Carthage; Alma Potocki, Watertown. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. pMassena: Reginald “Reg” Lockhart, 85 passed away on December 11, 2016 at Massena Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Family and friends may be received on Thursday December 15, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with Rev. Judith Van Kennan presiding. /ppReg was born on June 11, 1931 in Massena, the son of Henry and Olga (Curtis) Lockhart. He attended Massena High School, Canton ATC and also Oswego College. He married Mary in 1953 and served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Reg worked his entire career at ALCOA locally in Massena and globally. Reg also taught in the ALCOA apprenticeship program for 20 years. /ppHe is survived by his wife Mary, a son, David and his wife Sue; a daughter, Susan and her husband Paul; a granddaughter, Jennifer Monica and husband Ryan; and a sister, Alice. /ppThe most important things that he valued were family and friends, doing things right and his beloved camp./ppArrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. pClayton- A Celebration of Life for Mr. William J. Foos, age 85, of Clayton, will be held Saturday, December 17th, at 1pm, at the Watertown Elks Lodge 496. There will be no calling hours./ppBill was born July 15th, 1931, in Rochester, the son of Peter and Bertha Schreck. He graduated from Hilton High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. /ppHe entered the United States Navy in 1951 and honorably discharged in 1955, serving in the Korean Conflict./ppBill retired in 1986, after 25 years, as a Millwright at Kodak in Rochester./ppHe was a member of the Watertown Elks Club, the Clayton American Legion Colon Couch Post 821, a life member of the VFW in Texas, where he was also Shuffleboard Champion, and was also a Commodore of Mantrou Yacht Club in Greece, N.Y./ppBill loved fishing, boating, woodworking, and especially antique and classic cars./ppSurviving is his companion, Carol Lawrence; two children, Paula (Gary) Vogt of Hamlin, and Robert R. of Hilton; two grandchildren, Jesse and Jamie; his companions children, J. Mark Lawrence of Sodus, and Amber (Dan) Roberts Hall of Wilcott; her grandchildren, Stacy, and Staff Sergeant D.W. pCOPENHAGEN – Michael J. Swain, 48, 32223 New York State Route 12, died Sunday morning, December 11th at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse. He was injured in a snowmobiling accident near his home on Saturday./ppBorn on March 10, 1968 the son of Donald B. & Susan S. Mulvaney Swain. He graduated from Copenhagen Central School in 1986 and from Canton ATC with the Class of 1988. Michael was employed by Murcrest Farms in Rutland for 28 years./ppHe enjoyed four wheeling and snowmobiling; he collected miniature scale farm equipment./ppHe is survived by his Mother, Susan Swain, Tylerville, his brother Brian and his wife Betty, his sister Dawn Breyette and her husband Michael, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins./ppHe is predeceased by his father, Donald, who died in 2002, as well as his grandparents, Rayfield “Pat” & Margaret Mulvaney and Bruce & Shirley Swain./ppA funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at the Chapel at 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen, with the Rev. pRogene J. Coughlin Bessette, 85, of 307 Town Line Road, Canton went peacefully to live with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2016 while a resident at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, NY. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Route 11, Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 am at St. Paul’s Oratory, Pyrites, NY. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Riverside Dr.; Canton. /ppRogene was born on December 3, 1931 in Gouverneur, the daughter of George and Irene (Caswell) Coughlin, she graduated from Knox-Memorial Central School in Russell, in 1949; and Canton ATI (now SUNY Canton) in 1950. Rogene married Nelson J. Bessette on December 6, 1952 in St. Mary’s Recotry in Canton. She worked as a court stenographer in Canton courts until deciding to stay home and raise her family. Rogene later went back to work for St. Lawrence County, first at Cooperative Extension then at St. Lawrence County Tax Mapping and the St. Lawrence County Highway Department before retiring./ppRogene and Nelson owned and operated a dairy farm on the Town Line Road from 1952 until 1986. Rogene lived on the farm with Nelson until moving to the nursing home in November 2014, suffering with Alzheimer’s. Rogene was a member of the Grange and Ladies Aide Society; a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Canton; She was a drummer in a local band during the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. She enjoyed working with ceramics, bowling, snowmobiling, playing the piano, playing her drums at family gatherings, clogging, dancing, writing poetry, sewing and taking home movies. She loved doing things for her family and friends. /ppRogene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nelson; three sons: Thomas N. (Jeanette) of Hermon; Timothy G.; Milton J. (Connie) of South Russell; four daughters: Susanne M. (Stanton Jr.) Smith of Canton; Nancy R. Bessette-Robert of Canton; Rosemary K. (John) Langey of Cazenovia; and Jorja C. (Michael) Christy of Morley. By brothers and sisters-in-law: Warren Sr. (Betty) Bessette of Canton; Norene (Neil) Sheridan of Canton; Elevene (Jake) Corbine of Russell; Susan Bessette of Canton and Louise Coughlin of Rensselaer Falls; 19 grandchildren: Bryan and Mark Smith; Reardon Bessette, Brandi Stead, Brooke Roberts, Bobbie Kitts, and Bethany Allen; Melissa Rivers; Brent, Craig and Devin Robert; Jeremiah Bessette and Shandelle Clifford; Benjamin and Madison Langey; Nathan, Katherine, Thomas and Daniel Christy. Rogene has 34 great-grandchildren, and nieces Melody (Haven) Broderick, and Luene (Haven) Mulhall and their families of New Hampshire, as well as many nieces and nephews in her ‘Bessette’ family. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 4 nieces./ppHe is predeceased by 2 sisters, Brenda Railing, Frances Nichols; a brother, John Railing; and a grandson, Nathan Railing./ppBorn in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on February 14, 1949, Ernie was the son to John J. and Francis L. (Clark) Railing. He graduated high school and was employed in the foundry as a crane operator at the New York Air Brake from 1969 until the mid-1980’s. He left the Air Brake to work as an engineer technician for the New York State Department of Transportation, a position he retired from in 2010./ppHe was to married Marsha Smith from September of 1969 until 1994. Ernie was a member of the A.A.R.P., and enjoyed walking the mall, driving, and playing the lottery. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 2pm until the service. /ppTerry is survived by his wife Virginia; Sons Mike Bowman (Patty), Scott (Aimee) and Steve Tiernan (Meg); daughters Kimberly Shellberg, Michele Mendenhall, Christina Tiernan-Tiska (Matt); a brother Andy Tiernan; sisters Diane Church, Judy Coleman (Willis), Debbie Hill (Roger); grandchildren Keely and Tanner Bowman, Fisher Tiernan, Grace King, Jack and Isabelle Tiska, Asia Mendenhall and Kara Shellberg. He is predeceased by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Marie Tiernan. A prior marriage to Jayne Hertzel ended in divorce. /ppTerry was born on May 20, 1945 to Lillian and William Tiernan in Potsdam, NY. He attended Potsdam High School and left early to join the United States Marines and served until he was given a medical discharge. Terry worked in numerous construction jobs in the North Country, and was a longstanding member of Laborers Union 322 in Massena. His fingerprints can be seen on such project as; Bucks Bridge, the ski jumps at the Olympic Complex in Lake Placid, the headquarters of Atlantic Testing Laboratories and the train whistle at Cheel Arena. In later years Terry owned NewWays Construction and worked extensively on the Clarkson University campus and around the area. /ppTerry was an avid lover for the outdoors and was a consummate putterer. He tended to a large garden each summer and took great pride in the lawn, landscape and giving the fruits of his labor to others. He had a particularly deep fondness for this grandchildren and always lent a helping hand to others in need. She then went on to nursing school becoming an LPN. pMartin H. “Marty” Nadelen, 67, departed this life December 10, 2016 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado./ppBorn August 3, 1949 in Watertown, NY, he was a 1967 graduate of General Brown High School, Dexter, NY, attended St. Lawrence University and Jefferson Community College./ppOn August 15, 1970, he was joined in marriage with Rosemary Matula at St. Hedwig’s Church in Houseville, NY./ppHe retired from the phone company after 30 years service as a cable splicer. He then provided handy man work for anyone in need./ppMartin is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and their son Andrew. Also surviving is his mother Arlene Wagoner Nadelen, Brownville, NY, brother and sister-in-law Lon and Cathy Nadelen, Rochester, NY, nephews Christopher Nadelen and family, Fairport, NY and Shawn Nadelen and family, Lutherville, MD. Also, brother-in-law, James Matula, Turin, NY and sisters-in-law Bettina Miller and Kelley Sunglieng, Colorado Springs, CO, goddaughters Meagan Shannon and Helena Nadelen and many cousins. Sister Robin Nadelen (2000) and father Robert Nadelen (2009) preceded him in death./ppMartin was a member of the Masons, loved the NY Football Giants, was an avid golfer, loved gardening, hunting and playing cards. An all-around nice guy, he knew no enemies and was liked very much by all who knew him. Burial will take place in Martin Cemetery in Lisbon in the spring./ppAgnes was born on July 21, 1924 in Colton, NY the daughter of Erwin and Helen (Selleck) Stowe. She graduated from Colton High School. On July 4, 1946 she married Robert W. Dawley in Lisbon. Mr. Dawley predeceased her on March 20, 2007./ppShe is survived by a son Robert “Jeff” and Helen Dawley of Watertown, and daughter Martha and Luc Maynard of Massena, and two granddaughters, Kimberly and Michael McGonagle and Renee Martin, a step grandson David Maynard and step granddaughter Jaclyn Maynard, two great grandchildren, Brielle and Gavin McGonagle and a step great grandson, Jacob Maynard, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Erwin “Larry” on October 20, 2009. pWATERTOWN, NY- Douglas P. Wiley died December 8, 2016 at the House of the Good Samaritan, after a short, but courageous fight with lung cancer. /ppArrangements are under the direction of Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY. /ppHe was born on February 27, 1953 in Watertown, NY, the son of Harold R. Wiley and Nona MacDonald Wiley. He was raised in northern New York and attended South Jefferson and South Lewis Central Schools. Prior to his graduation, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a submarine mechanic in Rota, Spain. /ppAfter his discharge from the Navy, Doug worked for several years as a mechanic and bartender. Doug loved playing the drums and played for several local bands. Doug had a thirst for adventure and loved the outdoors. Whether snowmobiling, tinkering with cars, riding motorcycles or windsurfing, Doug had a “need for speed.”/ppDoug was an avid race fan, especially NASCAR and formula one. He loved cross country skiing, brining old vehicles back to life, playing the drums and watching his son and grandson compete in motocross. Doug was especially fond of spending summers at Sandy Pond with family and friends./ppHe is survived by his mother, Nona Wiley, Williamsburg, VA; son Patrick Wiley, Watertown, NY and grandson Tanner Wiley, Clayton, NY; brothers Jim and partner Denise Beaulieu, Scarborough, ME and Steve, Lafayette, LA and sister Jean Wiley, Williamsburg, VA. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. /ppDoug was predeceased by his father, Harold R. Wiley and his sister, Kathleen Wiley Zeosky./ppAs per Doug’s request, there will be no funeral or calling hours. There will be a celebration of life next summer, at the family’s convenience.
