pAdams- Gerald M. Chamberlin, 82, State Rt 178, Adams, passed away Monday February 29th at the Samaritan Summit Village where he had been a resident since February 18th./ppThe funeral mass will be 11 am Saturday, March 5th at St. Cecilia’s Church, Grove St., Adams with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville./ppGerald was born in Burlington, VT, June 12, 1933 a son to Fordyce W. and Hazel Olive Bapp Chamberlin. He served with the US Air Force from 1953-1960 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman second class. Gerald married Lorraine A.M. LaPointe November 25th, 1951 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Underhill, VT. Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlin lived in Vermont until moving to the Potsdam, NY area in 1974 where they owned and operated a dairy farm for many years,. They later lived in Arizona for several years until moving to Adams in 2000 where Gerald tended to his gentleman’s farm, passing the love of farming on to his grandchildren,. Mrs. Chamberlin passed away November 18, 2014./ppHe is survived by three daughters, Aldora Chamberlin, VT; Della (Gary) Ramsdell, Adams; Mildred (Lesley) McCoy, AZ; two sons Marvin (Marie) and Luke (Mel) Chamberlin, all of VT; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a sister Geraldine Olive Washburn, AZ; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife of 63 years, he was predeceased by a son Conrow and four brothers, Conrow, Willard, Kermit and Alton./ppGerald was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church and the American Legions in Arizona and New York. He enjoyed camping at the Willows Campground in Henderson Harbor where Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlin made many friends. Marti, 71, of New York State Route 26, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Lewis County General Hospital. /ppA Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, Carthage with Rev. Donald Robinson, Pastor, officiating. All are welcome to a luncheon immediately following the Funeral Mass in the Fellowship Hall of Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Route 12, Lowville. Spring burial will be in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Calling hours are from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. Box 1000, Dept.142; Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Sharon was born on March 24, 1944 in Watertown, NY, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Leona May Bushey Murphy. She graduated from Augustinian Academy and attended Canton ATC, where she met her husband. On April 21, 1963, she married James C. Marti at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Sharon raised her family, and worked for Grant’s Department Store, before working for Lowville Academy in the cafeteria and then with Jefferson – Lewis B.O.C.E.S. as a Special Education Aide until her retirement. /ppShe enjoyed boat rides on the lake, or sitting on the beach, taking in the scenery, especially if her family was with her./ppShe is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig Marti of Newburgh; Mark and Amy Marti of Lowville. Sharon found great joy spending time with her grandchildren, Craig, Jr., Kayla, Krysta, Cara, Christian, Ryan and McKenzie; and her great-grandson, Jasper James Olivero. She is also survived by a brother, Donald Murphy of Ohio; a sister, Betty Moonan of Boonville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Norm Yerdon of Adams; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, James C. Marti, who died on October 27, 2014; a daughter-in-law, Natalina Marti, a granddaughter, Carley Rose Marti, a sister-in-law, Patricia Murphy; and two brothers-in-law, Edward R. pLOWVILLE - Margaret C. “Peg” “Granny” Petrovitz, 84, died Tuesday morning at her home, March 1, 2016./ppMrs. Petrovitz was born March 18, 1931 in Constableville, the daughter of Wendaline W. and Catherine M. (Bernholz) Duppert. She graduated from Constableville High School and married Raymond D. McGrath, Sr. The couple made their home in Lowville on Sharp Street. Mr. McGrath died on February 1, 1960. /ppOn May 13, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Peg married Ernest Petrovitz with Rev. Howard Gosier, officiating. Mr. Petrovitz died January 20, 2003. /ppPeg was the Deputy Commissioner of the Fraud Unit for Lewis County Social Services for many years. She was secretary and life member of the Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912 Auxiliary where she celebrated 55 plus years as a member, was an auxiliary member of the Lewis County General Hospital where she could be found helping in the Gift Shop, and member of the Rosary Altar Society and treasurer of the 200 Club. /ppWhen she was younger she had garden. Peg enjoyed knitting and went to craft fairs to support the V.F.W. auxiliary and loved spending time with her family. /ppPeg is survived by her two children, Raymond D. and Joan McGath, Jr. of Brattleboro, VT; Catherine Granger and her companion William Leahy of Lowville; her grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Tracy, Todd and his wife Ronni, Ryan, Heather and her husband David, Laurel and her husband Tony, and Michael; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Cole, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ian, Justin, Hailey, Diego, and Olivia; her three sisters, Eva and Donnie Shambo of Constableville; Ann Colleen of Danville, IL; Barb Narrow of Calcium; her brother, James and Maureen Duppert of Constableville; several nieces and nephews. She dearly loved the king of the house, her cat, “Mary Jane”./ppMrs. Petrovitz was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be said on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. pTurin- Gerald R. Emerson, 60, of East Road, husband of Hakkyoung, passed away on Wednesday March 2, 2016, at ST. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, after a long illness. /ppHe was born in Constableville, on January 20, 1956, a son of Frank Richard and Shirley Leffingwell Emerson. He grew up in Constableville and Turin, attending Constableville Elementary School, graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1974. While in high school, Gerald attended BOCES, where he majored in electrical technology. For many years Mr. Emerson was employed as an electrician with Phase 4 Builders of Turin; later he was employed as a custodian for several years at Port Leyden Elementary School, retiring in 2015. /ppOn August 4, 1990, Gerald was united in marriage with Hakkyoung Na, at their residence on East Road. /ppGerald enjoyed hunting, walking and he was very gifted with his ability to repair a wide variety of items. /ppIn addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Bruce (Penny) Emerson, Turin; two sisters, Laurie (Scott) Goodhines, Constableville, and Lisa Baxter, Port Leyden; a sister in law and brother in law, Kyongcha (Patrick) Nellenback, Great Bend, NY, and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Richard, in 1964; later his mother, Shirley, married Maurice F. “Chick” Baxter, Jr. who predeceased Gerald in 2007; his mother, Shirley, passed away in 2003. He was also predeceased by one brother, Thomas Emerson, 2004. /ppFamily and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, March 7, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Getman, 70, of Schwendy Drive, died the morning of March 1st at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia after a brief illness. /ppTerry was born in Carthage on January 22, 1946 and was a 1965 graduate of Carthage Central High School. He married Donna J. Zecher on April 18, 1970. Terry worked many years at the former St. Regis paper mill in Deferiet before transferring to Southern Container in Solvay, NY where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of BPOE Lodge# 1762 in Carthage, a past Fire Chief and a benevolent member of the West Carthage Vol. Fire Department as well as a former member of the Hornets Firematics Drill Team. /ppA lover of the outdoors, Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and was happiest at his home on Pleasant Lake. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he cherished spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor, unbending work ethic, and his strong devotion to family. /ppHe was the son of the late Frank and Ethel Sullivan Getman and was also preceded in death by his brother Donald. Mr. Raymonda passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home./ppHarold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan; his two sons, Richard Raymonda, Norfolk and James and Carole Raymonda, St. Regis Falls; his daughter, Maria and Vincent Rinella, North River, NY; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Harold was pre-deceased by his parents and a granddaughter Kimberly Raymonda. /ppBorn in Syracuse, NY on August 5, 1928 to the late Harold B. and Anna Streeter Raymonda, Harold graduated from High School and served with the National Guard. He worked for General Motors as a Die Maker, working with the company almost 30 years, retiring in 1987. Harold was very active in the Norwood Community, as he was a member and past president of the Norwood Kiwanis Club, in which he was also named Kiwanian of the Year. He was also involved with the Norwood United Methodist Church, the Norwood Methodist Men, the Norwood Senior Citizens, the Norwood Lake Association as well as the Norwood Recycling Center, where he was every Saturday morning. Harold was also a member of the Flower Hill Sporting Club in Parishville, a member of Trout Unlimited and also previously sat on the Board of Directors for SeaComm Federal Credit Union for many years. Harold was very dedicated to the community and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, being in the outdoors, helping others and spending time with his family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown./ppHe was born in Theresa, March 22, 1932, a son to Clarence and Flora Webb Pierce Sr. Following his education, he spent many years in the US Navy and Naval Reserve. While on active duty, Larry served aboard the USS Vogelgesang (DD-862) as a Navy Cook, and was very proud of being a “tin can” sailor./ppMr. Pierce spent many years as a machinist with the New York Air Brake and volunteering at the Brownville Fire Department. Larry spent most of his free time working in his workshop making toy trucks and fixing things for his friends and neighbors. When not in his woodshop, he could be found reading his Western and Cowboy novels./ppLarry married his high school sweetheart, Beverly J. Sawyer on October 23, 1955 at the First Presbyterian Church in Watertown with Rev. Herbert Schroeder officiating. Mrs. Pierce, retired chief Clerk of Accounts Payable at the New York Air Brake, passed away after 56 years of marriage on July 25th, 2011./ppHe is survived by two sons, Larry Marc Pierce, Malone; Thomas James Pierce and Robert Bucklin, Chaumont; two brothers William (Ruby) Brady, Cazenovia and Wendell (Eileen) Pierce, Watertown; several nieces and nephews. pThe funeral for Amos C. “Andy” Cambron, 93, formerly of 11793 Rays Bay Rd. and Old Rices Rd., Watertown, will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of TLC Funeral Home, Inc. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Mr. Cambron will be buried with full military honors from the US Army and the Town of Watertown Fire Department. A get together will follow the funeral at the Henderson United Methodist Church. /ppMr. Cambron was born July 18, 1922 in Lindsay, Oklahoma the son of Harvey and Bertha Baker Cambron. He graduated from Litchfield Park (Arizona) High School./ppMr. Cambron enlisted in the US Army December 9, 1942 at Fort McArthur, CA. He was a tank driver in the Army and saw battle in five major campaigns in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Lexemburg. His unit fought in the European Operations in France, Belquin, Holland, and Germany. Mr. Cambron was a well decorated Veteran whose medals included the American Defense Medal, Service Medal, EMA, European Theater of Operations and good conduct medal. Mr. Cameron also received the bronze star for this meritorious service to his country. He was honorably discharged on September 24, 1945 at Fort Bliss, Texas. While in service, Mr. Cambron met the love of his life Amy E. Caulkins who he married at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona on August 22, 1945. Mrs. Cambron was laid to rest on January 7, 2014. Mr. Cameron was interviewed by the media on many occasions for the many veteran’s issues that he was most passionate about./ppMr. Cambron worked as an auto mechanic for Holton Tech, Plumpton Chevrolet and later retired from Good Year Tire. After his retirement, he worked for Ives Construction on various projects including the demolition of many old buildings on Arsenal Street to which the now famous last words to the media were always “Me and My Boys Built It.”/ppMr. Cambron was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Watertown Fire Department for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sackets Harbor American Legion, the Adams VFW, and the Henderson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, but most of all enjoyed socializing with his family and friends and was known to turn his beautiful bride around the dance floor a time or two. Along with his own children, Mr. Cambron and his wife looked after all of the neighbors kids on Rices Road to keep them out of mischief. /ppIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Henderson Rescue Squad or the Henderson United Methodist Church./ppHe is survived by his children: David and Sherrie Cambron, of Pennfield, NY, Ron Cambron of Mesa, Arizona, and Carol Reed and Thomas LaDuke of Adams Center. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Wanda Cambron of Tonopah, Arizona and his two grandchildren: Eric and Carolyn Reed of Watertown Massachusetts and Lesie Reed of Clinton, Connecticut. pRensselaer Falls, NY— Stanley George Planty, 82, of Rensselaer Falls, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at United Helpers Riverledge, Ogdensburg after a brief stay. /ppHis funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5th at 11:15 am at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton with Pastor Tom Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9-11 am./ppStanley was born August 19, 1933, in Canton, NY. He was a son of the late Channy E. & Alice (Taylor) Planty. He was a graduate of Canton High School and later from Oswego State Teacher’s College. He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a mechanic stationed in Turkey from 1953-1955. /ppStanley was married first to the late, Joyce B. Swartzfigure whom he married in Rensselaer Falls; second he married Judith Ann Poor in Ogdensburg and third was the late Mary Rhoda Wood, whom he married in Potsdam./ppSurviving are his three daughters, Christine B. Richardson and husband Lloyd of Heuvelton, Colleen Alice Kirby and husband Scott of Millersville, PA and Charleen Ann Bates and husband Adrian of Canton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amy Planty of Canton and Sally Wells of Winthrop; one brother, Avery Planty of NC. Also surviving are eight step-children from previous marriages. He was predeceased by his brothers, Maynard in 2016 and Ceylon in 2007 and also by a step-son./ppStanley had been involved in the automotive trade nearly all his life. He owned a garage in Rensselaer Falls; worked for Zebriski Motors in Ogdensburg and retired from St. Lawrence Boces, Seaway Area Tech in Norwood, where he taught automotive to high school children and adults./ppHe also enjoyed building wooden furniture, playing the guitar and the fiddle and reading Louis Lemour western stories. pMary E. “Libby” Natali, 94, of Clayton passed away at her home on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016./ppA funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, at 11AM at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Arthur LaBaff, pastor, presiding. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton. The family will receive friends from 1 - 5PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, James St., Clayton after the funeral./ppLibby was born in Clayton on November 18, 1921, daughter of Ernest P. and Bertha A. Sullivan Loveland. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Clayton./ppOn October 25, 1947 she married Donald J. Natali at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. George E. Racette officiating. Mr. Natali died November 28, 2014./ppShe had worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s School and as a caregiver. She then met her future husband when she waitressed at the C-Way Tourinn, which he and his brother started in 1946. Libby also had operated the El Rancho Motel on East Line Rd., Clayton. She retired as Vice President of the C-Way Resort, which included a new restaurant that was built in 1954, and later expanded with a motel and golf course./ppShe was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of the auxiliaries of both the Colon-Couch American Legion Post 821 and Knights of Columbus Council 350. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and participated in several leagues./ppLibby is survived by her five children, Patricia E. Natali and husband, Ken Kinnard, San Francisco, CA, Anne M. and John Lefevere, VA, John E. Natali, Joseph P. and Constance J. Natali and Mary C. and Gary L. Denesha, all of Clayton; eleven grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Loveland, FL and Marilyn Natali, Clayton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Don, she was predeceased by her brother, Ernest P. Loveland, Jr. and five sisters, Rita Good, Lucy Swart, Katherine Cupernall, Margaret Moore and Betty Loveland, in infancy. pSamuel Roosevelt Hopkins, 70, Clayton, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at the Hospice of/ppJefferson County residence in Watertown. He was born in Washington, N.C., and raised in Harlem and attended schools in Harlem. Sam married Audrey Reilly (nee Hannah) on Dec. 7, 1991, in Plainfield, N.J. He worked for 20 years in Kingston, Ont., first as head cook at The Queen’s Hotel, then as kitchen manager of the Kingston Brewing Company. He was the assistant cook at the Riverside Cafe, Clayton, for three years, then head cook for three years at The Thousand Islands Golf Club sports bar, Wellesley Island. He then became a license expediter for his sister’s business in New York City for two years. Sam returned to the 1000 Islands to manage the Thousand Islands Golf Club sports bar and the Lake Course Clubhouse restaurant and was kitchen manager of the Harbor Inn and O’Brien’s restaurants in Clayton. For the past 10 years, he was maintenance assistant at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton. His chicken wing “Ghetto Sauce” recipe, which he originated at the Kingston Brewing Company was sold to the House of Blues, New Orleans, La. He began singing in public at the age of five as a member of the Baptist church he attended in Harlem. Singing rhythm and blues with several bands in Canada and in the 1000 Islands performing jazz, blues and American standards at various venues with pianist Jim Burr and other local musicians. Sam regularly organized concerts to benefit local and national causes, including the annual Tunes for Turkey to benefit the Clayton Food Pantry and a 2005 event at the Clayton American Legion to support the Red Cross in its Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Surviving besides his wife, Audrey, are daughter Tanya Hopkins and sons Chris Hopkins of Montreal and Michale and Anthony Hopkins of New York City, one stepson and his wife, Christopher and Shelly Reilly of Elginburgh, Ont.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Hattie Smith of Mays Landing, N.J., and Ellenor Hopkins of Harlem; and nieces and nephews. A brother, Frank Hopkins, died before him. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment service will take place at Tamworth Cemetery in the spring.
