Helena M. Potoski

A prayer service for Helena M. Potoski will be 2 pm Tuesday, April 18th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours are from 12 noon – 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Potoski, 93, Martin Rd., Watertown, passed away Saturday, April 15th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.

She is survived by two sons , Frank (Victoria) and Stanley (Pamela), of Watertown; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Joseph and Nicole Potoski, Ralph “Gregory” Presley, Thomas Barr, Ted (Paula) Barr, Ann (Tracy) Coburn, Tammy Genovese, Michele (Gino) Giardini, Stephen Potoski; 14 great grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters Viva Hall, Rutland and Rita (Jack) Berrus, Constableville; many nieces and nephews.

Helena was predeceased by a daughter Joan M. Potoski, a son Stephen W. Potoski, a granddaughter Tammy Lynn Potoski, a brother Winifred Jarvis, and a sister Martini Stoffel.

Helena was born in Lowville, June 4, 1923, a daughter to Edward and Lucille Mattison Jarvis. She worked at Chesebrough Ponds in Watertown for many years, retiring in the mid 1980’s.

She married Walter Potoski in 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Potoski lived in Glen Park, Pillar Point, and lastly at the corner of the Jericho and Martin Roads in the Town of Hounsfield. Mr. Potoski passed away in July of 1995.

Helena enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards.

Canton-- Lee “Bill” Pierce, 80, of Schoolhouse Road, Canton, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his home while under the care of his loving family and Hospice and Palliative Care.

Bill was born July 13, 1936, in the Town of Pierrepont, a son of the late Lee A. and Margaret Briggs Pierce, and was a 1954 graduate of Norwood High School.

Bill enlisted in the in the US Air Force, August 17, 1954, served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He went on to retire from the military having served an additional 20+ years in the Army Reserves. He had been employed as a car salesman and owned a computer store, but was most proud of his military service.

On March 28, 1959, he married his beloved Florence Butterfield in the Canton United Methodist Church with Rev. A. Leslie Potter as celebrant.

Bill was involved with the Boy Scouts throughout his life, first as a member and Scoutmaster in Norwood, and then as a committee member of the Boy Scouts Troop 27 in Canton. He was also a member of the American Legion in Norwood.

Surviving are his wife Florence of Canton; two daughters, Lisa (Daryl) Mercadel of Rochester and Lesly (companion Gary) Scott of Canton; three grandchildren, Travis Pierce of Canton and Katie & Michael Mercadel of Rochester; brothers Douglas Pierce with wife Patricia and Benjamin Pierce. He was predeceased by his son Lee Steven Pierce in 1987.

He enjoyed photography, history, playing solitaire, and working on computers, but was best known for being an expressive story teller and loving to spend time with friends and family.

A private graveside service will be held at the Crary Mills Cemetery on June 3rd at 11am.

Julia Pearl Jenack

Harrisville- Julia Pearl Jenack, 69, formerly of Harrisville, and Virginia Beach, VA died on April 12, 2017 at the Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach. She was born on August 9, 1947 to the Late Francis and Alice Luther Dibble. She graduated from Lowville Central School in 1966.

She worked in Virginia as a machine operator for Tea Packer Incorporated, Virginia; and a Coater for ARS Manufacturing Company until her retirement. She is survived by her companion of 31 years, Robert Steele and a great friend, Connie Brown and several cousins. She loved crafting, crocheting, scrapbooking and her family genealogy.

She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Jenack, he died in June of 1983.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00am with the Reverend, Canon Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. Burial will follow in the Garrison Cemetery in Harrisville.

Judy A. Gotham

Watertown; Mrs. Judy A. Gotham, 70, a resident of Summit Village, died Saturday at Samaritan Medical Center. There will be no public services. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at their convenience.

Judy was born April 3rd, 1947, in Watertown, the daughter of Neil and Betty Timmerman Dodge. She attended LaFargeville Schools.

She married Alvin Gotham. She worked in various restaurants in the Jefferson County area.

Judy enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing, playing cards, and reading.

She was like a ray of sunshine; she put a smile on everyone’s face when she walked into a room. She loved to make people laugh, and she also loved to get up and sing any chance she got.

Surviving is her husband Al; her mother Betty Dodge of Watertown; two sisters, Shari and her companion Mike of Hammond, and Cathy (Dave) Parker of Cape Vincent; three brothers, Neil of Clayton, Craig (Becky) of Watertown, and Ron (Christine) of New Jersey; nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Allen, Eugene, and Steven, and one sister, Donna LaBow, pre deceased her.

Arlene A. LaFaver

Arlene Alice LaFaver age 80 of 61 ONeil Rd., Lisbon, NY joyfully entered Heaven on April 15, 2017. In her final earthly moments she blessed those who were present with her when she passed. Arlene was dearly loved and cherished by her family.

The funeral service for the celebration of her life will be held at 11AM at the Morley Wesleyan Church on April 20, 2017 with the Reverend Paul Dettmer officiating. Burial will take place in the Morley Cemetery immediately following the Celebration Service.

Calling hours will be held on April 19, 2017 at the Frary Funeral Home in Ogdensburg NY from 2-4 PM and again from 6-8 PM.

She is survived by six sons, David (Connie) LaFaver of Madrid NY, Allen (Jacky) LaFaver of Prescott, Ontario, Canada, Daniel (Nancy) LaFaver of Lisbon NY, Charles (Renee) LaFaver of Charles Town WV, Thomas LaFaver (Dino Attardo) Simpsonville SC, and William (Laurie) LaFaver of Lisbon NY; three daughters, Nancy (Michael) Hess of Lisbon NY, Darlene (Tabby) Hughey of Norris SC, and Laurie Molloseau of Central SC.

She is survived by sisters, Lillian Dodd, Ogdensburg, NY, Virginia and Robert Dominie, Ogdensburg, NY, Ann and Edward Baunach, Florida, and brother Arnold and Lillian Larock, Ogdensburg, NY, and one sister–in-law, Helen Brooks of Troy, NY, 26 grand-children, and 38 great grand-children. She is also survived by one aunt, Eleanor Gunsalus, Orlando, FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlene was predeceased by her husband Morris; three grandchildren - John LaFaver, Nicolas Molloseau, and Amanda LaFaver and one great-grandson Sawyer LaFaver. Three brothers, Robert, Lawrence and Everett and two sisters, June McCort and Eleanor Teele predeceased her.

Arlene was born April 20, 1936 in the Town of Oswegatchie, New York to the late Walter J. Larock and Mina Willard Larock. She graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1954 and from the Ogdensburg Business School in 1955. She married Morris K. LaFaver on September 17, 1955 at the Heuvelton Methodist Church.

Arlene enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sleepovers with the grandchildren when they were little. She loved babies and babysitting. Arlene had the gift of hospitality and she loved people and making them happy; especially if she could do something “useful” for others. She was a member of the Morley Wesleyan Church where she held several positions in the church including secretary and Sunday School Teacher.

Virginia A. Malbouf-Kempney

Carthage- Virginia A. “Ginny” Malbouf-Kempney, 73, of 5418 Flood Road, died Sunday morning, April 16, 2017 at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY.

Ginny was born on January 2, 1944, at home in the Town of Diana, the daughter of the late George and Marion (Pitts) Smith. She was a graduate of Harrisville Central School. She married Robert E. Malbouf on May 4, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisville. Robert died on April 24, 1981. She married Byron “Pete” Kempney on March 17, 2005 at St. James Church in Carthage with Rev. Geroge F. Maroun officiating. Ginny worked as a sales clerk for Farney Lumber Company in Carthage for several years before joining Minfelt Building Supplies in Watertown. There, she worked for 24 years, retiring in 2004.

She was a member of the Spinners & Weavers of Watertown and the Argonaut Club of Carthage.

She is survived by her husband: Byron “Pete” Kempney of Carthage, one daughter: Mrs. Charlie (Catherine) Ripley of Harrisville, two sons: William (Michelle) Malbouf of Watertown and Steven Malbouf of Lowville, three step sons: Kirk and Dale Kempney of St. Cloud, FL, Kraig (Angelia) Kempney of Carthage and Keith (Megan) Kempney of New Hartford, several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who affectionately called her “Gramma Ginny”, four sisters: Mrs. James (Billie) Manchester of Harrisville, Mrs. James (Linda) Phillips of Cleveland, OH, Kathy Wescott of Harrisville and Mrs. Kevin (Michelle) Virkler of Lowville, three brothers: Phillip (Susan) Smith of Rochester, Chuck Smith of Harrisville and James (Lisa) Smith of Harrisville and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Sheri L. Malbouf-Flint died on June 30, 2010.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at 11:00am in St. James Catholic Church, Carthage with Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage at the family’s convenience. A calling hour will be held at the church, prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.

Patrick F. Wallace

LOWVILLE - Patrick Francis Wallace was born to the late Francis and Doris Wallace August 18, 1949 in Watertown, NY and passed peacefully into rest April 16, 2017. Patrick attended Lowville Academy and graduated with the Class of 1968, then the Canton College Class of 1970.

While at Canton he met the love of his life, Miss Abigail Westfall. They married on August 14, 1971 and together they raised 5 children. Patrick went on to serve in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and Civil Engineer from 1971-1975. He worked for the NYSDOT in Watertown as a Civil Engineer from 1971-2009 and retired as Asst. Resident Engineer Lewis Co. in 2009. He served as a Lewis County Legislator for three Terms from 2007-2013.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Abby Wallace, their children, Colleen (Eric) Rosenthal, Jamie (Carolyn) Wallace, Megan (Chris) Kempney, Brian (Katie) Wallace and Michael Wallace; 10 grandchildren, Audrey, Patrick, Emily and Lillianna Rosenthal, Riley Wallace, Colin, Cody and Carson Kempney and Brennan and Connor Wallace; his siblings Stephen Wallace, Elizabeth (Gene) Heidenreich , Leslie (Wayne) Terrillion, Teresa (Joseph) Fayle and Joanne(Larry) Pisarski; 15 Nieces and Nephews, 10 Great Nieces and Nephews; his loving caregiver Gail Stone and an amazing extended family.

Patrick was a member of the Upper Balsam Flats Hunting Club, the Elks Club and St. Peter’s Parish. He loved golfing, hunting, Irish Sing-Alongs, being at the lake and spending time with family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 19th from 4 to 7:00 PM at Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating. Military burial immediately following at Lowville Rural Cemetery.

COLTON—A Celebration of Life for 52 year old Robert D. Aldous, a resident of 40 Symond Square, Colton will be held at a later date to be announced. Mr. Aldous passed away early Saturday morning, April 15, 2017, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Robert is survived by his companion of 20 years, Rose Bagnato, Winthrop; his father, Robert and Sandra Aldous, Pierrepont; his mother, Sue and Robert Gerrish, Edgewater, FL; his son, Robert B. Aldous and his partner Nate Payne, Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Kendra Aldous, Eaton, NY; one granddaughter, Kaitlynn Aldous; two brothers, Scott and Kim Aldous, Colton; Tim Aldous, Canton; two half-brothers, Wayne and Barbara Aldous, Parish; Aaron and Georgy, Lisbon; a half-sister, Charmayne and Paul Jett, Texas as well as several step siblings and nieces and nephews.

Born in Potsdam, NY on August 17, 1964 to Robert and Sue Aldous, Robert graduated from school and served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return home, he worked for various business locally, working on farms as well as cooking at several restaurants, including the Rib Trader in Canton and restaurants in South Colton and Massena. Robert had a love of the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing and enjoyed watching sports, cooking and socializing with his family and friends. Jane W. Hunt

Jane W. Hunt, 84, of Watertown, passed away Friday morning, April 14, 2017, at Samaritan Medical Center.

Services at Brookside Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Jane was born in Carthage on May 28, 1932, daughter of Myron and Marion Stoffel Weir. She was a graduate of Beaver River Central School and Watertown School of Commerce. On September 26, 1953 she married Edward E. Hunt at St. James’ Church, Carthage with Rev. M. J. Deacy, OSA officiating. Mr. Hunt, who worked for the railroad for 42 years, died May 7, 2005.

Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and also a teacher’s assistant for 22 years at Wiley Elementary School. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. She was a member of the Home Bureau, Odds & Ends, and Red Hat Ladies. Her enjoyments included crafts, knitting, crocheting, upholstering and refinishing furniture. She also enjoyed backgammon and card games, traveling with her husband, and all of their animals.

Jane is survived by her two children and their spouses, Thomas E. and Susan H. Hunt and Cynthia A. and Patrick Bigelow, all of Watertown; two grandchildren, Kurt Hunt and wife, Kate, OR and Amy E. Hunt, Watertown; two great grandchildren, Graci Beyer and Harper Jane Hunt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

SAUQUOIT - Charlotte Grace Accordino, newborn daughter of Nicholas A. and JamieLeigh Csizmar Accordino of Mohawk St., Sauquoit, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 16, 2017 at Crouse Hospital.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Vincent Long, Pastor of St. Leo-St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Holland Patent, NY, officiating. Burial will follow in Otter Creek Cemetery, Glenfield. POTSDAM—Funeral Services for 86 year old Mary E. Waite, a resident of 48 Sisson Road, Potsdam, will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with her son, John, presiding over the services. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Waite passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 with her family at her side.

Mary is survived by a son, John and Mary Waite, Shelby, NC; a brother, Joseph McGregor, Lawrence as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Paul; a son Joseph Nelson Waite at infancy; a daughter Ruth Marie Waite, age 4; her brothers, Benjamin and Elmer McGregor and her sisters Betty Malone and Ella Mae Smith.

Born in Norfolk, NY on May 22, 1930 to the late Douglas J. and Marie Rose Thiebault McGregor, Mary married Paul H. Waite on May 26, 1951. Paul passed away on September 18, 2012. Mary worked as a homemaker, a housecleaner and also waitressed at various restaurants in Potsdam. She was a widowed member of the Potsdam Elks Club and enjoyed crafts, sewing, camping and visiting with her family and friends. Mary always tried to stay busy and was always willing to help others. Elizabeth “IB” J. Stowell

GOUVERNEUR- Elizabeth “IB” J. Stowell, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at RiverLedge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg surrounded by her family.

Elizabeth was born on April 13, 1924 in Rossie, NY to the late Winfield and Fern (Hendrick) Goodison. She attended school in Rossie and then graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1941. After high school, she then went on to Watertown School of Commerce for secretarial. Elizabeth married Charles D. Stowell on June 30, 1946 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Charles passed away on February 6, 2005.

Elizabeth was the secretary at the Gouverneur Co-op for 22 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Tops. She enjoyed doing word jumbles and loved doing the adult coloring books. She also enjoyed going to bingo and just being social. At the nursing home they called her “The Mayor” and she was also crowned the Queen.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Jeffrey and Connie Stowell; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Stowell; a sister, Rosemary Otto and four grandchildren and was Nanabell to nine great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband; a son Timothy Stowell who passed away in 2015 and a sister, Frances Collins

There will be calling hours for Elizabeth on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 10:00-12:00 at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur with her funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. with Lay Pastor Judy Sibley officiating. There will be a burial for both Elizabeth and Charles on May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. will military honors at East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.

Douglas S. Quintin

EVANS MILLS- Douglas S. Quintin, Sr., 70, of Willow Street, died Tuesday April 18, 2017 at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born on October 29, 1946 in Middlebury, VT, he was a son of Claude and Loraine Bushey Quintin and was educated in Burlington, VT then moved to the central Vermont area.

Douglas met Theresa Lessard in 1971, they moved to the Watertown area in 1974 and were married November 4, 1978 at the Black River Methodist Church.

He worked as a diesel mechanic at Freeman Bus Corp., Watertown, NY for many years. His most precious job was providing loving care to granddaughter Macie for the past 8 years and for grandson Brock when he arrived 2 years ago.

Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, on the farm doing field work, watching NASCAR racing and fixing just about anything.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas Quintin, Jr., and Kristopher and Nicole Quintin, all of Evans Mills,NY; two grandchildren, Macie and Brock; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ansel and Kay Quintin, KS, Paul and Claire Quintin, VT, Gerald and Vicki Quintin, VT, Reginald Quintin, VT; Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Waddington: Robert S. Bouchard, 83 passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Conway Medical Center in Conway, SC. Monday (April 24, 2017) at St. Mary’s Church in Waddington with Rev. Joseph A. Morgan officiating. Entombment will be held in Foxwood Memorial Park in Ogdensburg.

Robert was born on December 8, 1933 the son of the late Edmond and Victoria (Kinch) Bouchard. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1952 and attended Canton ATC in Criminal Justice, receiving his Associated Degree. He served in the National Guard for four years, then the Coast Guard and followed by the Army Reserves. He then worked for A & P Tea Company for many years and the Nubler Company, later he took a position working for the St. Lawrence Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff, having to retire early in his career due to macular degeneration. Bob went to work as a Teacher’s Aide at BOCES for 21 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Waddington, and a member of the American Legion Post # 420. He was a devoted husband of 51 and a half years, and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed the company of his toy poodle “Ginger”.

He is survived by his wife Patricia J. LaRue, whom he married on October 2, 1965. He was previously married to Doris Belfy which ended in divorce. Also surviving Bob are his sons, Robert Bouchard Jr. and Susan McPherson of Ogdensburg, Louis and Lori Bouchard of Ogdensburg, two step-daughters, Deborah and Stephen Gravlin of Madrid, Karen Wheeler of Florida. His grandchildren Heather Bouchard, Emily Bouchard, Steven A. and Beth Gravlin, David J. and Emily Gravlin, Brian Tynon, Christopher Moody and Emily Shampine. Great-grandchildren Maddison, Harper, Braydon, Lucas and Tyler Gravlin, Alex, Adam and Emma Gravlin, Maressa and Abigail Shampine. Bob is also survived by a brother in-law Leo Perry, two nieces Debi Compani and Cindy Vanvoorst along with several nieces other and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his a sister Betty Perry. Bob’s family would also like to thank John and Leeann Bouton for their help through this difficult time.

HEUVELTON- Mitchell D. Heimbach, 18, of State Highway 58, died Thursday, April 18, 2017.

Born on May 7, 1998 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son and step-son of Brenda Gauger Delosh & John Delosh and a son of Dale Heimbach. He was a senior at Morristown Central School and was looking forward to working for Macomb Highway Department.

Mitchell was passionate about ice fishing and fishing. He enjoyed animals, working on cars, video games and helping the neighbors.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Brenda and John Delosh, Heuvelton, NY; his father, Dale Heimbach, Newcastle, DE; his dog (4-legged daughter) Milky Way; four brothers, Douglas Gauger, Massena, NY, Taylor Heimbach, Eagleville, PA, Nickelas Heimbach, Pottstown, PA, Kurtas Heimbach, Dexter, NY; two step-sisters, Tanya Delosh and Jennifer Delosh, both of Oxford, PA; maternal grandfather, Daniel Gauger, Linfield, PA; his godfather and godmother, Neal and Sharon Bieber, Linfield, PA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His paternal grandparents, Russell and Dorothy Heimbach, his maternal grandmother, Kathyrn Gauger and a cousin Michael Bieber all died before him.

At 1 pm Sunday, April 23, 2017, family and friends will gather at the Black Lake Boat Launch on County Route 6 in honor of Mitchell and then a reception will be at the Morristown Fire Department, 200 Morris Street, Morristown, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to purchase fishing poles for underpriviledged children in the area.

Gloria J. ‘KoKo’ Gilbert

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria J. “KoKo” Gilbert, age 74, of Ogdensburg, NY will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Morgan as the celebrant. Committal prayers will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilbert passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Kim Ives and her husband, Joe of Sherrill, NY; three sons, Roger TenEyck and his wife, Penni of Big Flats, NY, Scott Gilbert of Ogdensburg, and William Gilbert and his wife, Angel of Charlotte, NC; sister, Joyce Polniak and her husband, David of Ogdensburg; grandchildren, Jillian Kilian and her husband Jon, Michael Ives and his fiancé Mary Kacprowicz, Emily Ives, Cassidi TenEyck, Kennidi TenEyck and Kaden TenEyck; great grandchildren Patrick and Caroline Kilian; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gloria was born in Ogdensburg, NY on April 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert Allen and Elmira (Girard) Dupree. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg. Gloria married Thomas W. Gilbert on October 10, 1970. He predeceased her on March 27, 2011. Gloria was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Thomas Dupree.

Mrs. Gilbert worked as a Nurses Aide and in the billing department at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for many years where she eventually retired. She was a long time parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, served as a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed volunteering her time cleaning the church. Gloria was also active volunteering her time at the Knights of Columbus Council #258 as well as being a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, baking, reading, and travelling. Gloria will be dearly missed by those that knew her.

Thomas B. Roe III

Thomas (Tom) B. Roe, III, peacefully passed away with family by his side in Bloomfield, CT on April 7, 2017. He was born on September 26, 1926 in Watertown, NY to William I. Roe and Helen W. Roe. He attended Watertown schools and graduated from Manlius Military. Like many of his generation, he lied about his age and joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17.

He served as a flight engineer on B-29s stationed in Guam. After being honorably discharged, he attended and graduated from Syracuse University where he served as the President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. After graduating from Syracuse University, he joined his father and brother in running Roe Farm Service. He married Barbara Boyce which ended in divorce. He married Elizabeth Gamble Atkinson on February 5, 1977. He and Elizabeth travelled extensively, visiting over 85 countries during their marriage.

Tom was an active participant in various civic duties including serving on the Watertown City Council, Board of the House Good Samaritan, Watertown International Airport, Eastern Federal Feed Merchants, Northside Improvement League, Italian American Club, and was a member of the Ives Hill Country Club and Black River Valley Club.

During his lifetime, Tom lived in Watertown and Clayton, NY, Avon Ct and the Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT, his last residence.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, brother, William Roe, and wife, Elizabeth Roe. He leaves behind his son, Thomas B. Roe, IV and wife, Alyse Roe, of Austin, Texas; and daughter, Sarah E. Paddock and husband, Gary Nicholas, of Ogdensburg, New York. Also, surviving Tom are four stepchildren whom he loved as his own: Gay Atkinson Gray and husband, Sam, of Wellesley, Massachusetts; Leslie Atkinson of Valencia, Spain; Todd Atkinson of Omaha, Nebraska and Graham Atkinson of Syracuse, New York. In addition, Tom was blessed with 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Tom was a very special person, loved by all who met him. His wit, charm and the caring he had for others will be dearly missed.
