Winthrop- Ms. Kimberly A. Harrison, 52, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday September 16, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Kim was born in Nyack, NY on December 20, 1964 to the late Wayne and Patricia (Arquiett) Arquitt. She attended St. Lawrence Central in Brasher Falls. For several years Kim worked as a waitress and hostess for numerous restaurants. She was blessed with a free spirit and a kind heart. As some might call her a ‘tree hugger’; Kim had a great love for nature, back road rides, her plants and animals. Her rock collection and green thumb allowed her to fully embrace Mother Nature’s beauty. Kim was well traveled. She lived in various parts of New York before moving to California, Vermont and Pennsylvania. She spent a large part of her life in Erie, PA. before returning to the north country. She loved to explore and was always looking for the next adventure. Kim would find the best in anyone she met and always tried her best to keep a positive outlook on life. She is survived by her 2 daughters: Jamie Chase and her fiancé Joe Coffey of Gouverneur, and Makala Francis, at home; her siblings: Tim and Penny Arquitt of Winthrop, Pam Snyder of Brasher Falls, and Sam Arquitt of GA.; nieces and nephews: Shayne and Wyatt Arquitt, Tia Snyder, and Brett Snyder, Brianna Arquitt, and Omid Small; and her fur baby, Bruiser. THERESA: Ervin W. Hamilton, 74, of Silver Street Rd., died Sunday evening, September 17, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born on October 17, 1942 in Adams, NY, he was a son of Edward and Esther Roby Hamilton. He attended local schools. He married Sally M. Furgison at the Theresa Methodist Church on September 8, 1962 and recently celebrated their 55th Anniversary. Ervin retired after 38 years of work for New York AirBrake, Watertown, NY. He enjoyed watching sports on television, bowling, fishing, town team softball, spending time with family and friends and camping at Yellow Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and Brian Church, FL, Patricia and John Kingsley, VA; a son Jeffery Hamilton, Theresa, NY; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edward and June Hamilton, LA, Donald and Bonnie Hamilton, Theresa, NY; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Evelyn Horton, Theresa, NY, Linda Hall, AZ, Peggy and Dale Bauter, Black River, NY, Susan and Robert Hoffman, Theresa, NY; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Hammond, NY – Ellen “Mary” Amyot, Lake St, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, September 15th at her home. She was born in Brasher Falls, NY, daughter of Harold P. and Ellen Mary Connolly Kennehan. She graduated from St. Lawrence Central High School. Later in life, she graduated from JCC and went on to graduate from the Syracuse University nursing program in 1996. She married Joseph Edgar Amyot on June 6, 1964 in Brasher Falls. The couple owned and operated the family farm on County Rt. 1, until they sold in 1998. Mary worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone in both Potsdam and Ogdensburg, as a young woman. She also worked as a postal clerk in Chippewa Bay. She worked as a RN for Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, Hospice of Jefferson County, E. J. Noble Hospital in Alexandria Bay, and United Helpers in Ogdensburg.
Besides her husband Edgar, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Michael and Ann, of Mebane, NC and James and Marjorie, of Baltimore, MD, a brother, Rev. John Kennehan and a sister, Helen Stearns, both of Brasher Falls, and four grandchildren. A brother, Phillip Kennehan predeceased her. Rolland L. Felio
Rolland L. Felio, 81, of Henderson, passed peacefully at home on September 18 with his family and loved ones by his side. He had been under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. His funeral service will be at 11:30 am Saturday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Pulaski, with Rev. James Tschudy officiating. Visitation is from 9:30 - 11:30 and will precede the funeral. Burial will be private in the South Richland Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Inc., Adams.
“Rolly” was born October 18, 1935 in Plattsburg, son of Clifton and Dorothy (Macomb) Felio. Following his graduation from Keesville HighSchool, he attended Potsdam State Teachers College, Saint Lawrence University and Syracuse University, graduating with a master degree in music and earning his Administrative certificate. He began his thirty-seven year music teaching career that include five years at Oswego and later at Pulaski, where he retired after thirty-two years.
He married Rose Mary Hilton of Pulaski on July 14, 1962 in the Pulaski Baptist Church. The couple lived briefly in Watertown, before moving to Pulaski. Following his retirement, they moved to Henderson where they lived the rest of their married life.
Surviving besides his wife Rose Mary, is a daughter Angela (Robert) Lawrence; two sons Mark Felio, Angel Louis (Jeanie) Rodriguez; four grandchildren William and Olivia Lawrence, Codi Anne Salzman and Bailey Felio; a sister Caroline Penn; two brothers Norman and Bernard Felio; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by two brothers Roger and Lawrence Felio.
Rolly enjoyed golf, the Bach Choir, the church choir and performing.
The family would especially like to thank his caregiver Cindy Ives for her professional services and compassion over the past several years.

PARISHVILLE—There will be no services for 84 year old Orrin R. “Marty” Martin, a resident of 9 Watkins Drive, Parishville. Mr. Martin passed away late Monday evening, September 18, 2017 at his home. Orrin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Thais, Parishville; a son, David and Charlene Martin, Parishville; his two daughters, Marjorie Goldsmith, Manchester, NH and Irene Martin, Parishville; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sister, Helen Blaine, Saratoga Springs. Orrin was pre-deceased by his brothers Arthur “Sonny” and a sister, Marie Martin.
Born in Norwood on October 4, 1932 to the late Arthur and Jeni Kiah Martin, Orrin married Thais L. James on November 3, 1952. Orrin worked for Reynolds Metal in Massena for many years, retiring in 1998 as a Tapper. Orrin was a past member with the Parishville ATV Club and Weller Mountain. He stayed very active and enjoyed his time spent on the ATV’s and helping on the trails. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. John L. Foster
WEST PARISHVILLE – Mr. John L. Foster, 59, of Russell Turnpike Road, passed away Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 in the emergency room of Canton-Potsdam Hospital after a brief illness.
John was born February 28, 1958 in Potsdam the son of Leonard and Jean Mills Foster and was a graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School.
John was a mechanic for many years, first with Barstow Motors, moving to Tardelli Auto, and most recently was a heavy equipment mechanic at Atlantic Testing in Potsdam. He was an avid snowmobiler and was a member of the St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and cherished the time he was able to spend at his camp at Sevey’s Corners.
John is survived by his mother, Jean Higgins of West Parishville; his father and step-mother, Leonard and Faye Foster of West Parishville; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Sandra Foster of Colton; his half sisters, Tammy Higgins of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Ramsdell of Buckton; his nephews, Brad Foster, and his wife, Debbie, and Andy Foster; his niece, Heather Foster Barriger and her husband, Aaron; and his great nieces, Brionna and and Willow; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his fiancé, Judy Wendt on August 15, 2015.

Ruth E. Carman
COPENHAGEN- Ruth E. Carman (Lamphere), 93, of Co. Route 69, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at the home of her daughter Wendy, under the care of her family and Jefferson County Hospice.
Ruth was born on May 29, 1924 in Johnson City, NY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Madge Stevens Lamphere. She graduated from Whitney Point High School, where she enjoyed attending a number of class reunions over the years. On August 2, 1946 she married William L. Carman in Castle Creek, NY. She was a homemaker.
Known as “Tootie” to many of her friends and family, Ruth enjoyed a rich social life of playing cards, watching the New York Yankees baseball, golfing, bowling, as well as boating and motorcycling. Throughout the years, she and William also enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends.
For the past several years, Ruth resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Copenhagen, NY. She lived most of her life in Castle Creek, where she was a very active member of the United Methodist Church Woman’s Group, alongside many of her close friends and aquaintances.
She is survived by her daugher and son-in-law, Wendy L. (Michael) McDonald, Copenhagen; a grand-daughter, Misty Carman, Perry, NY; a grandson, Keith and his wife (Marcia) McDonald, Scotia, NY; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Carman, Sanitaria Springs, NY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their respective families.
Her husband of 56 years, William, died on March 27, 2003. She is also predeceased by her son, William B. Carman, several siblings, a brother, Harold “Happy” Lamphere, two sisters, Francis Rockwell and Marlene Woodman, a grandson, Robert Carman, and two nephews, James and Ronald Rockwell.
Calling hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, 7323 119th St., Whitney Point, NY on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5-7 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 23 at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Castle Creek.

Gary H. Manford
Gary Harper Manford, 73, passed away September 13, 2017, at Ft. Pierce Hospital, Fort Pierce, Florida. Born August 27, 1944, he was the son of E. Leroy (Sandy) and Ruth Harper Manford. He attended Heuvelton School until his Sophomore year and graduated from Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attended Broward Community College. Gary was employed as a Police Officer in Nyack, New York, from 1972 until 1983 when he moved back to New York. He purchased the Marina at Lake Bonaparte and ran it as the Van Heuvel II Marina until he retired in 2015.
Gary is survived by his longtime companion, Diane O’Grady, beloved children Eddie, Trisha, Kimmy and 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Betty Stiles of Carthage, brother James of Bally, PA, his twin brother, Jerry, of Bradenton, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mona (Garett) Flack and his brother-in-law, Paul Stiles.
Gary attended the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend and sang in the choir for several years. A Service will be held at Woolworth Memorial on Saturday, September 23rd at 2pm with a Celebration of Life following at Last Call in Evans Mills.

Shirley Ann Reed Cortelyou
LAKE LUZERNE, NY – Shirley Ann Reed Cortelyou died at Albany Medical Center on September 15, 2017 of acute leukemia.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey on July 17, 1937, Shirley graduated from Princeton High School in 1955 and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1959 and became an elementary school teacher for the next five years.
On December 26, 1959 she married the Reverend James (Jim) U. Cortelyou at the Princeton Theological Seminary’s Miller Chapel in Princeton, New Jersey. In 1968 they moved to Watertown, New York where they raised their two children.
While in Watertown, Shirley served as the Executive Director of the Jefferson County Women’s Center from 1982 – 1984. She later returned to college to attain a Master’s degree in Library Science from the State University of New York at Albany in 1994 after which she worked as a Reference Librarian at the Atlantic County Library System, including Mays Landing, New Jersey, from 1994 – 2002. She was a member of the Beta Phi Mu International Library Science Honor Society.
Shirley and Jim retired in 2002 and fulfilled their dream to live in the Adirondack Park by moving to Lake Luzerne, NY.
A life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, Shirley served as both an elder and deacon over the years. She and Jim have been members of the Presbyterian New England Congregational (PNEC) UCC Church in Saratoga Springs, NY since 2013. She also very much enjoyed playing in various church hand bell choirs and volunteering at the Serendipity Thrift Shop in Lake Luzerne, NY.
Shirley is survived by her husband Jim, her children Cathleen (Cathy) Cortelyou Pieroni (Mark) of Poway, CA and James Daniel (Dan) Cortelyou (Andrea) of Guilderland, NY. She is also survived by her brothers Kenneth C. Reed (Susan) of Lancaster, PA and William T. Reed (Danielle) of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Laura Grange (James), Maria C. Pieroni, Matthew J. Cortelyou and Anna R. Pieroni. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E.and Marie Bennett Reed, and an infant sister, Lillian May Reed.
A Celebration of Life service for Shirley will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Presbyterian New England Congregational UCC Church, located at 24 Circular Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 and officiated by the Reverend Kate Forer. The funeral mass for Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Ligammari of Swan Rd. Watertown will be Thursday September 21, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Church at noon. There will be a luncheon following the service at the VFW on Bellow Ave. in Watertown. Mrs. Ligammari died at the Jefferson County Hospice House on September 18, 2017. She was 85. She was born the daughter of George and Helen Senecal Yerdon on July 12, 1932 in Reynoldsville, PA. She graduated from the Immaculate Heart Academy and later married Peter J. Ligammari on April 1, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Church with Father Dostie officiating.
Mrs. Ligammari and her husband, Peter owned and operated Papa Pete’s restaurant in Watertown from 1971-1987 serving the best pizza in the north country and enjoyed socializing with family and friends.
Mrs. Ligammari was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and socializing with her many friends. Surviving besides her beloved husband, Peter are her children Mrs. Scott (Kathleen) Scee of Watertown, Thomas and Debbie Ligammari of Watertown, Karen Ligammari of Watertown, and Mrs. Matthew (Sharon) Fitzpatrick of Tylerville, NY. Also surviving are her brother and sister in law George and Jean Yerdon, of Syracuse, her sister and brother in law Mrs. Geno (Helen) Martini of Black River and several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Mrs. Ligammari is predeceased by her two sons Peter Michael Ligammari, Robert Ligammari and a daughter Mary Rist. She is also predeceased by her brother Leon Yerdon and her sister Ruth Howell. Arrangements are with TLC Funeral Home, Inc.

Michael J. Casey, age 69 of potsdam, New York passed away on September 18 at his residence in the village of potsdam. Arrangements are incomplete with the garner funeral service.
David M. Essom
David Milnor Essom, MD, 85, died peacefully in his sleep August 31, 2017 in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born in Penn Yan, NY to Ruth Eberly Essom on April 13, 1932, his father, Milnor, having died the month before.
He was raised in Marathon, NY and was a member of the Marathon High School Athletic Hall of Fame’s inaugural class. After receiving his undergraduate degree and MD from Syracuse University, he married Eva Joyce “Chris” Chrisman on August 19, 1956.
He had five children while working as a general practitioner in Providence, RI; Omaha, NE- for the United States Air Force at Offutt AFB, receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Captain; and in Cortland, NY. In the 1970’s he returned to Syracuse as a psychiatry resident and practiced there for several years.
He won local tennis tournaments, loved chess and Civil War history, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and barbershop singing groups. After a stint as a Medical Director at Eastern Virginia State Hospital in Williamsburg, and an attempt at retirement that didn’t stick, he moved to LaGrange, GA and continued to practice psychiatry. Several years later he fully retired and moved to Cary, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Chris; daughter Kathy (Klod) Kokini of LaFayette, IN; daughter Carol Essom, MD, of Charleston, SC; son John Essom of Delray Beach, FL; daughter Kimberly Haelen of Durham, NC; daughter Roberta (Greg) Parrott of Durham, NC; sister Janet (Vito) Angerson of Liverpool, NY; aunt Alta Boyer-Blohm of Lodi, NY; cousin Robert (Linda) Eberly, MD, of Cortland, NY; and his thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the graveside in Ellisburg Cemetery in Ellisburg, NY at 1pm on September 30, 2017. Michael J. Casey
Mr. Michael J. Casey, age 69 of Potsdam, NY passed away on September 18, 2017 at his home in the village of Potsdam. Mike was born April 12, 1948 to Geraldine Ranger and the late Jeremiah Jay Casey. Mike was a very fun loving, likeable guy. He had many friends throughout the area and enjoyed his daily routine, which allowed him time with those who brought smiles and laughter into his life. Mike was an avid sports fan who loved the Miami Dolphins, playing golf and playing softball back in the day. He had a great time while employed at Murphy’s gas station and enjoyed sharing stories surrounding his time there. Mike then went on to work at Clarkson University in the facilities department, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Potsdam Central School and was a Vietnam War Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1969-1973. He is survived by his mother Geraldine Casey, son Sean Casey, sisters Sarah (Tony) Fiacco, Mary Jay (Earl) Lenhardt, grandchildren Grace and Riley Casey and many other family and friends. He is predeceased by his father Jeremiah Jay Casey, son Michael Casey and sister Kathleen Bradish.

Sherry Lynn Noftsier, 62, Watertown, passed away Monday September 18th at University Hospital in Syracuse.

She is survived by her husband Robert “Beep”; a daughter and her life partner Bobbi Jo Noftsier and Dorothy Jones, Buffalo; granddaughter Kenna Williams and her fiancé’ DeAndre Rice, Buffalo; sisters Donna Vout, Linda (David) Barden, and Diana (David) Compo, all of Watertown, her best friend Della Pitcher; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased a son William “Bump” Noftsier at age 4; a sister Libby Jareo; a niece Christi Vout and a brother-in-law Paul Vout.
She was born in Watertown, a daughter to Louis and Hazel Hodge Jareo. Sherry had worked numerous jobs to include waitressing, bartending and clerked at the Samaritan Medical Center gift shop.
Sherry was a free spirit and was called “classy with sass.” She loved being with and spending time with her family and friends.
