They lived in Belleville until 1955 when they moved to Thomas Settlement, moving again in 1998 to Green Settlement Road in Adams Center.

Ginny was an active member of the Belleville United Methodist Church where she was organist, choir director, and pianist for over 30 years, served as treasurer for 10 years, and also participated as the Chairman of the Evangelism Committee and a Finance Committee Member. In 1983 she became the organist, choir director and pianist at the Honeyville Baptist Church for 17½ years, later becoming a member and serving as a Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer, and Editor of the Church’s Newsletter there, and the Jefferson County Journal’s correspondent for the church. She also attended the Seventh Day Baptist Church for 7 years and the Belleville United Methodist Church again in recent years.

Ginny was very active in her community and had a heart for service. In 1972 she received the Masonic Dewitt Clinton Award for Community Service. She spent 21½ years as a volunteer Basic and Critical Care EMT in the Emergency Medical System before retiring, most spent at South Jefferson Rescue Squad where she was President for 4½ years and held several other offices. She then spent 3+ years with the NOCA Squad also serving on their Quality Assurance Committee. As a youth and young adult, she was a member of The Children of the American Revolution, The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was on or chairman of the Red Cross Blood Bank Bottling Unit for 9 years and was a member of the Junior Morning Musicals in high school.

Ginny was in Girl Scouting for 60 years, 14 of which were spent as a leader mostly of Cadettes, as well as Troop Organizer in Adams Center & Belleville areas. She also spent 2 years as Neighborhood Chairman of South Jefferson Neighborhood and 16 years on Troop Committees earning many honors along the way including the Thanks Badge. In recent years, she mentored a single teen mom in the Parent-to-Parent Program, and had two “littles” for four years under the Big Brother/ Big Sister Program with whom she shared her love of the outdoors.

A very active woman, Ginny often had more energy than her grandchildren. She enjoyed living in the woods by renting a camp in the Winona area. She loved hiking, swimming, snowshoeing, canoeing, backpacking, camping, and roller skating with family, friends, and Scouts. In later years she continued to enjoy hiking, swimming at the YMCA, and canoeing. She also had many other hobbies including collecting postcards (continuing her grandmother’s collection from the 1880’s) and crocheting — she made over 40 afghans, many of which her family still cherish.

Her family remembers her fondly as an incredibly intelligent, involved, selfless and loving woman for whom family and friends were always her top priority, with a heart always ready to welcome more. She is and will always be dearly missed.
