Elizabeth M. “Bessie” DeLosh, 94, of Watertown passed away Thursday afternoon, February 8, 2018, in Tamarac FL. She was a warm gentle soul and beautiful light of love to her family and all she met.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, February 16, from 9:30 - 10:30AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church followed by the funeral mass celebrated at 11AM. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Bessie was born in Watertown on September 5, 1923, daughter of Louis and Eunice Nagey Zelecovich. She was a graduate of Watertown High School. On November 1, 1944 she married Donald F. DeLosh at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. J. A. Sullivan officiating. Donald passed away September 14, 2008.

She retired from the Jefferson County Probation Dept. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Bessie enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, crossword puzzles, but especially spending time with her family. Bessie and her husband, Don, wintered in Sunrise, FL for over 35 years.

She is survived by her four children, Joyce (John) Helm, Jamesville, Lorraine DeLosh, Sunrise, FL, Donald DeLosh, St. Louis, MO, and Stephen DeLosh, Watertown; three grandchildren, Kristy (Shane) Vetter, Derek DeLosh, and Julie McNitt; five great grandsons, Dylan and Luke Vetter, Jaymison DeLosh, and Levi and Lincoln McNitt; three brothers-in-law, Robert DeLosh, Thomas (Nancy) DeLosh, and Mervin Smith.

Bette (Bessie) T. Gannon

Cherished mother and sister, Bette (Bessie) T. Gannon, 92, passed away in her home in Derby, VT, on Friday, February 9, surrounded by her children.

Born in Lisbon, N.Y., to Raymond and Marion Thompson, she married husband John, a musician and music teacher, in Lisbon, NY, in 1954 and spent much of her life in Turin, N.Y., where she and John ran the Snowflake Lodge.

An English teacher at Lowville Academy for over 30 years, Bette received her Bachelor degree in English and Masters in Education from St. Lawrence University. Steadfast in her faith, humble and caring in her treatment of others, and disciplined in her work, Bette lived and died with grace and dignity.

Bette is survived by son William, daughter-in-law Betzi Goodman, and granddaughter Lezah Gannon, of Cambridge, VT, and daughter Kim and son-in-law Richard Ricciardi, with whom Bette lived in Derby. She is also survived by sisters Una LaBarge of Lewisville, TX, and Ilene Payne of Canton, NY, and brother Robert of Lisbon, NY.

A graveside service and memorial service will be held in Lisbon, NY, in the spring (TBA).

Anthony “Tony” J. O’Geen

Massena: Anthony “Tony” J. O’Geen IV, 60, of Massena, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, February 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm at the Phillips Memorial Home Massena. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Massena. Burial will take place at a later date.

Tony was born on May 3, 1957 in Buffalo, the son of Anthony and Kathryn (Normandale) O’Geen. He attended Massena Central High School graduating in 1976. Tony then joined the Airforce where he was an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Upon returning home, Tony attended Canton College graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice. He married Mary Jo Richards on October 1, 1983 at St. Joseph’s Church in Massena. Tony worked as a Deputy Sheriff for a brief period followed by Riverview Correctional Facility where he retired from after 25 years.

He is most known for his local business, Tony’s Canvas & Leather, which he proudly opened nearly 20 years ago. He enjoyed all of the challenges that came with his business and took great pride in his custom work. Tony enjoyed boating, windsurfing, scuba diving, kayaking and anything that involved the St. Lawrence River. An avid sports fan, Tony loved watching his son play hockey and lacrosse over the years. He was the ultimate family man, most recently enjoying his new title of ‘Grampy’. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, American Legion Post #79 and the Sons of the Legion, all in Massena.

Tony is survived by his mother, Kathryn of Massena; his wife Mary Jo of 34 years; three children, Aurora and husband Cody Clary of Massena, Antonio “Zeppy” and wife Klarysa of Atlanta and Aliza Jeanne O’Geen of Massena; a grandson, Jackson Clary and an expected granddaughter in May.

Also surviving Tony are his siblings, Michael and wife Patty O’Geen of Waddington, Ross O’Geen of Massena, Bonnie and Anthony Legnetto of Syracuse, Tammie O’Geen and Bill Gerber of Pittsburgh and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Anthony and a brother, Mark O’Geen.

Ronald S. Favret

Ronald S. Favret, 95, of Walton passed away Friday afternoon, February 9, 2018 at home in Walton, surrounded by his family.

Ronald was born on May 16, 1922 in Cape Vincent, NY, the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Donahue) Favret. He married the former Madelyn Mc Manaman on August 30, 1944 at Brownville. She died on August 3, 1993. He was employed as a milk inspector, lastly for Allied Milk Co., Utica, NY. Ronald was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #0699, Watertown. He was also a former member of the 3 Mile Bay Fire Dept. While in Walton he managed the Walton Theatre for many years.

Ronald was a very active man, working til he was 80. He loved camping, fishing, meeting new people, riding his bike to the lighthouse and back and walking around town. His camping trips were in the North Country and Canada.

He is survived by one daughter: Mary Frances Rolfe, Walton; three sons, Stephen C and Janet Favret, Chaumont; Ronald P. Favret of Delhi, NY and Paul and Lisa Favret of Walton; grandchildren, Denise & Shawn, Stacey & Andy, Stephen & Erin, John, Mary, Tim, Brittney & Anthony, Ronald & Sondra, Haley, Ashley, Joelle, Ryan & Hannah, several great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Theresa, great-granddaughter, Mia and a brother, Lyle.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday, February 13 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16 at St. Vincent Of Paul Roman Catholic Church, Kanady Street (corner of Kanady & Lake Street), Cape Vincent, NY 13618, with the Rev. Pierre Aubin, officiating. Burial will be in Cape Vincent in the spring.

Timothy Matthew Bamford

Timothy Matthew Bamford, 58, of Winchester, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 in UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville.

He was born June 26, 1959 in Watertown, NY the son of Hilton Matthew and Jean Grace Allen Bamford. Was a graduate of Watertown High School. Mr. Bamford served in the US Navy and was a machinist for Barrett Machine Shop in Winchester.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Lucas Bamford; three daughters, Gwendolyn Bamford, Adrienne Vargas “Bamford” and Eleanor Bamford; his partner, Teena Brown; a sister, Karen Moran; two grandchildren, Jesus Vargas and Mirabel Vargas and extended family members Sarah and Jim Meadows and their family, also Debrah Austin and family.

A funeral service was held Wednesday at Phelps Funeral Chapel, with Pastor George Reed officiating.

Charlottoe A. Hall

EVANS MILLS- Charlotte A. Hall, 86, formerly of North Main Street, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

Born on August 24, 1931 in Champion, NY, daughter of the late Frederick and Amelda Shannon Staie. She attended Evans Mills High School and was in the class of 1949.

She previously worked for the Hazel Jewett Insurance Agency and Borden’s Co., both located in Evans Mills and later for the Indian River School District, Evans Mills Branch where she was a secretary to the principal. After 37 years she retired July 1, 1994. She also taught night classes at BOCES for 10 years.

On February 14, 1953 she married Richard J. Hall at St. Mary’s Rectory, Evans Mills with Rev. Henry McFadder officiating. Mr. Hall died November 6, 2010.

She was past president of CSEA, founding board member of the Northern Federal Credit Union, President of the Jefferson County Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, from 2002-2004 she was President of the NYS Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and she was a trustee and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Hall enjoyed boating, swimming, knitting, cake decorating, traveling and spending time at Lake Bonaparte with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, James R. and Karen Hall, Beaver Falls, NY, Michael John F. and Mary Hall, Carthage, NY, Thomas S. and Suzanne Hall, Sarasota, FL; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary A. Delles, Evans Mills, NY and Susanne and John Bush, Croghan, NY; five grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Sarasota, FL and Kendall Hall, Atlanta, GA, Michael Robert Hall, Carthage, NY, Nicole Hall, Rochester, NY, Alexander Hall, Watertown, NY; a sister-in-law, Donna Staie, Carthage, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, her husband Richard, two sisters, Gladys Adams and Florence McCormick, a brother, Joseph Staie, a sister-in-law, Joan Clark and two brothers-in-law, Charles Clark and Benjamin Delles all died before her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Evans Mills, NY with Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Evans Mills, NY in the spring. There will be a gathering at St. Mary’s Parish Center immediately following services.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.

Mabel B. Monroe, 96, formerly of Rodman, died February 11, 2018 at the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had lived since 2014. There will be a memorial service 11:00 am May 26, 2018 at the Rodman Community Church, with Rev. David Swift officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman. There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Inc., Adams, NY.

Born October 6, 1921 in Watertown, she graduated from Watertown High School in 1938.

She married Earle G. Monroe on July 11, 1941 in the rectory of the Presbyterian Church, Rutland, with Rev. Fred Thayer officiating. The couple lived in Lowville, Utica and moved to Zoar Road, Rodman, in 1946.

Following the death of her husband on November 25, 2009, she continued to live at the family home, later moving to the Country View Apartments, Adams, in 2010.

Mrs. Monroe worked at the Rome Air Force Base (Savage Arms), Hardy’s Tea Room, Burrville, Mercy Hospital as a ward clerk and at Guardian Claims Service, Watertown, retiring in 1983.

She is survived by two sons Earle G. ‘Bob’ and Brenda, Plymouth, NY, Thomas D. and Lorri, Lorraine; two daughters Cheryll Monroe, Mesquite, TX, and Gail E. McCrary, Panama City, FL; nineteen grand children, and several great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and one brother William Hickox, Watertown.

She is predeceased by a grandson Nathan Monroe, son in law Jack McCrary, and two sisters Ann Astifan and Dorothy Marguerite Coates.

Mrs. Monroe was a member of the Rodman Community Church and the Eastern Star Lucille Chapter, Rodman.

She will be missed dearly by her loving family.

Ronald S. Gushlaw, age 54, of Brier Hill, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 5, 2018. Arrangements are entrusted to Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Per his request there will be no funeral services or calling hours.

Ronald is survived by his companion, Lora Wade; Lora’s sister, Kristy Baker; Lora’s son, Dustyn Jon Wade and his wife, Ashley, Lora’s grandchildren, Sara Nicole Wade and Amber Meredith Wade; his siblings, Daren Kinch, Daniel Kinch, Dwayne Kinch and Denise Bishop; three Aunts, Robin Thayer, Debbie Taylor and Kim Hatcher and two uncles, Thomas Ray Gushlaw and Edward Allen Gushlaw and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his mother, Darlene Dawn Kinch; his grandparents, Pauline and Carroll Gushlaw and an aunt, Pamela Trombly.

Ronald was born on August 4, 1963, in Buffalo, NY, the son of Darlene Dawn Kinch. Ronald met his companion, Lora Wade, on March 5, 1992, in Las Vegas, NV where they spent eleven years together. They moved to the Brier Hill area where they have currently resided for thirteen years. Mr. Gushlaw was a self-employed floor installer.

Ronald played basketball in his younger years and enjoyed watching pond hockey, being outdoors and spending time with his dogs. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Fan as well as a #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr. Fan.

Walter John ‘Clyde” Beutel Jr.

Walter John ‘Clyde’ Beutel Jr, 63, of Adams, died unexpectedly at his home on February 12, 2018. Calling hours will be Saturday February 17 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 pm at the Piddock Funeral Home, Inc, Adams. Gerald Beutel, lay speaker for the Barnes Corners Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center.

Born September 30, 1954 in Watertown, son of Walter John and Beulah Maxine (Emerson) Beutel, he graduated from Lowville Academy in 1973. Following school he worked at the Barnes Corners Hotel, eventually purchasing it from his parents in 1988.

In 2005 he moved to Syracuse and worked at ARC of Onondaga as a health care assistant, retiring in 2016.

He married Carol Worden of Rodman June 10, 1989. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Clyde is survived by his daughter Patricia Beutel, Buffalo; two brothers Gerald Beutel, Barnes Corners, Timothy (Donna) Beutel, Adams Center; one sister Dawn (Robert) Tessier, Sandy Creek; and many nieces and nephews, and his dachshund “Lady”. He is predeceased by his parents.

Clyde was a longtime member of the Rodman Masonic Lodge #506.

He enjoyed trapshooting, trapping, snowmobiling, dancing and playing cards.

Retha H. brown

GOUVERNEUR – Retha H. Brown, age 92, passed away on February 11, 2018, at the Gouverneur Hospital.

There will be a memorial service honoring Retha in the spring. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Retha was born on June 18, 1925, at the family homestead in Lairdsville, NY to the late Frederick William and Lela Thirza (Jackson) Hiller. She graduated from the Vernon High School in 1942 and from the Utica School of Commerce in 1944. Retha married the Rev. Stanley E. Brown on June 18, 1949, at the Westmoreland Methodist Church officiated by her soon-to-be father-in-law, the Rev. Russell S. Brown. For the next 40 years, the Browns served the parishes of Hamilton, Gouverneur, North Gouverneur, and Massena, NY. In retirement the couple returned to their home in Gouverneur and served the United Church of Richville parish. Stanley passed away on November 6, 1993.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gouverneur, where she held office in the local church and served on committees at the District and Conference levels. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a past President and Treasurer of Unit 2.

Her community service was tireless. She was a member and past President of the Travelers Club, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Board member of Cambray Housing Corporation where she served as President from 2004-2010. At the time of her death she was an active life member of the EJ Noble/Gouverneur Hospital Auxiliary; she was a member of the Gouverneur Library Board, and a member of the Gouverneur Garden Club. She also captained a local trivia team, known as “The Brownies,” in support of the Gouverneur Reading Room.

Mrs. Brown was an artist, painting in oils, and showed her works at the Gouverneur Museum in the summer of 2012. She was an accomplished seamstress and an exceptional baker. One of her great loves was wildlife, including wild flowers, birds, and animals.

Her survivors include three children: son Craig H. Brown and his wife, Karen, and their children, Weston, Eleanor and Drew; daughter Lynne J. Brown and her wife, Shannon Rodes, and their daughters, Alexandra and Galen; daughter Dayle B. Burgess and her husband, Michael, and their children, Madeline and Nathaniel; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Retha is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Virgil Smith; and a niece, Elaine Smith Malecki.

Kay Elaine Dealing

Kay Elaine Dealing, 74, of Sandy Creek passed away February 11, 2018, after a short illness.

She was a graduate of Sandy Creek Central School and received a Bachelors Degree in English from Syracuse University. She taught art at South Jefferson Central School prior to becoming the librarian at Annie Porter Ainsworth Memorial Library in Sandy Creek. She loved books and kept up on the latest literature for herself and the library’s patrons. She was an avid crafter, as well as a baker, making many items for friends and family. Kay was a member of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church. She was known for her sense of humor and her thoughtfulness towards others.

She was predeceased by her father, Alfred Dealing, her mother, Janyth Dealing and her brother, Ronald Dealing. She is survived by her nephew, Brett (Jessica) Dealing, her niece, Jarona (Milos) Leopold, a great nephew and several cousins.

Calling Hours will be at the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, Thursday February 15, 2018 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm with the Funeral Service following at 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church.

Massena: Mary Iva Manning, age 76 passed away early Monday morning (Feb 12, 2018) at Massena Memorial Hospital. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Calling hours for Iva will be held Thursday February 15, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 A.M. Friday February 16, 2018 at The Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena with Rev. Mark R. Reilly officiating. A spring burial will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Hogansburg, NY at the convenience of the family.

Mary Iva White was born to the late John and Elizabeth (Jacobs) White in Massena on July 20, 1941. She attended schools in Cornwall, and later and became an LPN. She married her first Husband Romeo Rainsville who predeceased her in 1973. Iva was employed by Massena Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 2003. She was married to Robert J. Manning on July 7, 1995 at St. Viator Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. Together they travels extensively including Italy and the Holy Land. Iva loved to be outdoors. She was an avid skier and golfer who enjoyed playing the lottery and bingo. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her well.

Iva is survived by her loving son Steven R. Rainville of Massena, NY, and her siblings Cecilia Montour, Barney White, Barbara Nelson, Andrew and Sophie White, Joseph White all of Hogansburg, NY, Lawrence White of Ottawa, Ontario and Kenny White of Manchester, NH. Iva is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Iva was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Romeo Rainville, her second husband Robert Manning in September 2017 and her brothers George and Jimmy White.

Bernard (Barney) E. Marrin

Bernard (Barney) E. Marrin of Bluffton, South Carolina, formally of Massena, New York, passed away at age 94, on February 8, 2018 at the NHC Nursing Home in Bluffton where he had been a patient since November, 2017. He was born in Alma, Michigan to Charles and Esther Marrin on December 6, 1923. He graduated from Alma High School and attended Michigan State University for one year before being drafted into the Army in 1942. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Parachute Infantry Division serving in the European Theater during World War ll. During the Battle of the Bulge, in Germany, he was shot, wounded, and taken Prisoner of War by the Nazis. He was first reported captured on February 7, 1945 and was imprisoned for two months. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged.

Bernard returned briefly to Michigan before moving to Long island, New York to work at Pilgrim State Hospital in Central slip. While working at the hospital, he met his future wife, Natalie J. MacDonald of Canton, New York. The two were married in Canton on October 9, 1948, at the United Methodist Church. The couple moved back to Michigan where Bernard was employed by the Tulip City Duck Farm in Holland, Michigan. They later moved back to Canton where he was employed by the A&P Food Market and eventually to Massena, New York after the Reynolds Metals Aluminum Plant opened. He was employed there for twenty-seven years, retiring as a supervisor in 1986. Bernard was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Lawrence and three sisters, Beatrice, Joyce, and Jean. He is survived by his wife, Natalie, a daughter, Cheryl Ferrell of Bluffton, SC, two sons Randall (Julie) of Watertown, NY and Jeffrey (Sandra) of Massena, NY along with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Bernard was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1143, the American Legion, and the AMVETS. There will be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be held in the Massena Center Cemetery at a later date. Jill Ose, 72, Adams, passed away Friday, February 9th at Samaritan Medical Center, where she had been a patient since January 25th.

Public calling hours are Sunday, February 18th, from 2 pm-4 pm and 6 pm-8 pm., at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 17 Grove St., Adams. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am Monday, February 19th as St. Cecilia’s with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. A funeral mass will be held at St. Leo-St. Ann Catholic Church followed by a burial at a date to be announced.

Jill was born a daughter to John and Jean Schnauble on February 22, 1945. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1963 then went on and receive her bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota. She worked as a case manager for Onondaga Co. for several years.

She married William Cunningham in 1981, which ended in a divorce. In 1987 she married Edward Zacek, he passed away in 2004. On October 21, 2006 Jill married Retired LTC. William C. Ose in Hickley, NY.

Besides her husband Jill is survived by her stepdaughter, Amy (David Sprague) Ose, Sackets Harbor; a stepson, William (Mary) Ose, Ovid; step-grandchildren, J.W. Allen, Jake Allen, Dominick Sprague, Marris Ose, Harrison Ose, several nieces and nephews, her best friend, Barbara Ahern & family and her dog JJ. She is also survived by Susan, who Jill was a caregiver to for many years.

Jill was a member of the Syracuse Stage for 45 years, very active with the Ladies Group at St. Cecilia’s Church, and she also was a volunteer for Jefferson County Mediation.

She enjoyed helping her husband with all his duties with the Knights of Columbus. Jill loved to follow her classmate from Lyons High, Jim Boeheim coach Syracuse Basketball, but the most important part of her life was watching her step-grandchildren excel in life.

GOUVERNEUR – Charlotte Korleen Spilman, age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, New York.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral following immediately at the Gouverneur Community Center, 4673 SH 58, Gouverneur, NY. A spring burial will be held at the Hailesboro Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Korleen was the daughter of Percy and June (Taylor) Harper. On November 15, 1958, she married David L. Spilman, Sr. at the Gouverneur Methodist Church. Korleen graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1959 and from SUNY Empire State College in 1988.

Korleen worked at the VanSlyke & Curtis Drug Store in Gouverneur and Spilman’s Store in Hailesboro. Korleen helped run the family business Spilman’s Garage and maintained a 33 year career with the United States Postal Service. Korleen’s career with the Postal Service began in January 1960 as the Postmaster of the Hailesboro Post Office. In 1974, Korleen was honored as the first female Postal Supervisor in the State of New York. In 1981, Korleen became the Postmaster at the Gouverneur NY Post Office, and the last five years of her career with the Postal Service was in Quality Management at Syracuse MSC. After retiring from the Postal Service at the age of 52, Korleen owned and operated several businesses including Famous Food Emporium Catering, Decorating by Design, and Antique Emporium. During Korleen’s retirement, she was also an Associate Broker at Century 21 Millennium Realty.

Korleen enjoyed family, friends, music, entertaining, flowers, plants, cooking, shopping, reading, pottery, painting, stained glass, camping, selling real estate, and traveling.

Korleen’s life revolved around her family, people, public service, and community affairs. Korleen always worked hard and cared, not to be recognized, but to make a difference. Korleen volunteered her time at and was a member of several organizations including the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Planned Parenthood, Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce, Gouverneur Business Women, St. Lawrence County Board of Realtors, Gouverneur Area Development Corporation, EJ Noble Hospital Board, St. Lawrence County IDA, Heart Fund, March of Dimes, and the Kiwanis Club. Korleen was honored several times throughout her lifetime for her service and dedication to the people, organizations, and businesses of St. Lawrence County.

Korleen is survived by David L. Spilman, Sr., her children, Connie (Jeffrey) Stowell, David (Patti) Spilman, Jr., Shelly Dodds and fiancé Andrew Miller, Sherry Geer, Natalie Spilman, Nancy Spilman, and Martin (Julianne) Spilman. Korleen is also survived by her grandchildren Kelsey, Kyle, Matthew and Joshua Spilman, Taylor Dodds, Brandon Geer and Meggan Anson, Gaige Gonyeau, Lindsey Conklin, Blake, Tanner and Hannah Spilman, and several great grandchildren. Korleen is survived by her brother Douglas Harper, Aunt Evelyn Mary Washburn, her cat Petey, and her best friends Eldon Conklin, Francis Proper, and Janice (Hayden) Wall.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her Stepfather Marty Leahy, her dog George, and her “other mother” Millie Hayden.

Friends may call Monday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00 AM at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Michael Jablonski, celebrating. Burial will be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena.

Bruce Clay

HARRISVILLE – Bruce Clay, 78, 8258 NYS Rte 3, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Arthur Bruce Huberts, Jr. in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 18, 1939, the son of Arthur Bruce and Joanna Wilhelmina VanderLaan Huberts. Prior to his enlistment into the United States Army in 1958, he had his name legally changed to Bruce Clay in honor of his stepfather, Wilford L. Clay. His military career took him across the globe over the next 20 years. He served in such places as Korea, Japan, Germany, India, Turkey and Iran, before retiring from active duty in 1978. As a civilian, he continued to work for the Military.

In May of 1966 he married Jocelyn Anne Cabral in India. She passed away on July 27, 2004. On February 11, 2006, he married Trudy D. Farr at home in Harrisville. His church and his country were very important to him; he was a member and trustee of the Stone Road Baptist Church, a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed politics, yard work, watching television and listening to audio books. He became a Mason while stationed in Japan.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy, at home, his children; Judy & Edward Jackson, Ransomeville, NY, Joan Stempien, Niagara Falls, NY and Stanley & Amy Clay, Fairport, NY, his stepchildren; Stephen Sanders, Edwards, NY, Neil Sanders and his companion, Tracey, Chittenango, NY, Trudy Mansil, Harrisville and Joseph Sanders and his companion Cherie, Midway, GA. He is also survived by his brother and his wife, Ted & Jann Clay, Farmington, MI, his grandchildren; Stephanie and John Stempien, Christopher and Jennifer Jackson and Katie Clay, his step-grandchildren; Ashley, John and Shayna Sanders, Lenora and Cody Mansil, Joseph, Hunter and Ruby Sanders, as well as his great grandchildren; Mason Tallon, Bentlee Sanders and one expected in May 2018.

Along with his first wife, Jocelyn, he is predeceased by his brother, Jeffrey Huberts.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Feb 18th at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with Pastor Kevin Bates officiating. A memorial reception will follow at the Harrisville Fire Hall. Calling hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb 17th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Spring burial with Military Honors will be held in Harrisville Cemetery.

Dominic A. “Mego” Doldo

Dominic A. “Mego” Doldo, 79, of Watertown, passed away February 14, 2018 at Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mego was born July 7, 1938, in Watertown, a son of John J. and Josephine Coppola Doldo, Sr. In 1956, Mego graduated from Watertown High School and in 1960 from Canton ATC. On June 20, 1970 he married Donna J Loveland at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Joseph Conti officiating. He was a member of the United States Army Reserve. Mego was a manager for J. C. Penny Co. in Burlington, VT. After moving back to Watertown he and his brother Richie owned and operated Doldo Bros. Construction. From 2004 until 2016 he was the steward for the Italian American Civic Association.

Mego was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the American Legion. He was a member and three time past president of the Italian American Civic Association.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Joseph L. (Dianthe), Bedford, NH, their children; Alexandra, Tyler and Brady, Dominic R. (Stacy), Watertown, NY, their children; Alexander, Giavanna and Georgiana, three brothers, John J. Jr. (Patty), Richard (Lisa), Patsy, all of Watertown, a sister-in-law Josephine Doldo, Watertown, several nieces and nephews. A sister Connie Romeo, two brothers Joseph and Anthony “Tiny”, and two sisters-in-law, Ellen Doldo and Jean Doldo, all died before him.

There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are with the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 11 am at St. Anthony’s Church with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church 850 Arsenal Street, Watertown, the Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery, 400 Pratt Street, Watertown, or to the Italian American Civic Association, 192 Bellew Ave., Watertown, NY 13601.
