Ronald Dee Johnson, AKA Randy and Handy Randy
Ranald Dee Johnson, AKA Randy and Handy Randy, 72 , formerly from Watertown, went home to his heavenly father on Saturday April 14, 2018 at the Morningstar Nursing Home, Oswego NY, where he had lived for several years.
He was born on September 20, 1945 to Cyril C. and Ermina G. (Fenlong) Johnson in Watertown, Ny. He attended local area schools.
He was married 4 Times. (1) Glory Jean Kriesick (June 26 1966); (2)Margaret Anna Morse (October 23, 1973); (3) Patricia Mitya McCarty (July 5, 1979); and Glory Jean Kriesick (November 27, 1987).
He and brother, Allan, formed a Country Band known as The Johnson Brothers, in the late 50s. They played in several venues in the local area. They also played in Wheeling WV, Nashville Tenn. and Winslow AZ. They also played a few times with Fred Angel and with George Walters.
He owned and operated “Handy Randy,s” General Contractors, specializing in painting.
He is survived by a son Patrick of Alabama, and two daughters Jeanine of Lafargeville, and Amanda, a sister, Kathy of Watertown, two brothers Allan and Kerry both of Watertown. He was predeceased by his parents, His wife Gloria and a Sister Anne.
There will be no services at his request. The body will be cremated.

Doris Mae Tuttle
GOUVERNEUR – Doris Mae Tuttle, age 101, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on April 16, 2018 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital where she has resided since 2013.
Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 12 – 2 p.m. Her funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Beth Quick officiating. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.
Doris was born on May 1, 1917 in Gouverneur to the late Eugene P. and Kathleen (Beers) Gray. She attended school in Gouverneur and married Benjamin W. Tuttle on January 20, 1930 at the Gouverneur Methodist Parsonage officiated by Rev. Harold Thomas. The couple owned and operated their dairy farm on Route 58 in the town of Macomb from 1948 until retiring in 1974 when they moved to Gouverneur. Mr. Tuttle passed away on July 6, 1999.
Doris was an avid gardener and card player. She was a member of the Pine Hill Birthday Club and enjoyed her family immensely.
Mrs. Tuttle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Phillip Parker; 3 sons, Robert and Barbara Tuttle, James Tuttle and Ronald and Joan Tuttle; 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son, Benjamin Tuttle, her sisters, Valda Hance and Shirley Besaw, and a daughter-in-law, Florence Tuttle.

Robert H. Monica
Robert H. Monica, 81, of Co. Rt. 21, expired Saturday evening, April 14, 2018 at his home.
Born on October 17, 1936 in Theresa, NY, he was a son to Howard and Evelyn Jones Monica. He graduated from Theresa High School and worked at the New York Air Brake before joining the US Air Force in 1957 and he was honorably discharged in 1960.
He married Virginia VanTassel of Theresa, on Aug 7, 1958 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Redwood NY, with the Rev. Emil LaLonde. The couple had six children from their marriage.
He was trained as a Lab Technician in the U.S. Air Force after which he served a tour in Korea where he was awarded a medal representing commitment to world health by the South Korean Government. After leaving the service he returned home where he went to work for Mercy Hospital for 23 years before transferring to House of Good Samaritan for 15 plus years after which he worked for Oneida City Hospital, Oneida NY, for a few years before his retirement. Robert was also the Town of Theresa Supervisor from 1974 to 1982, and he was also the Chairman of the Jefferson County Health Committee.
Robert had a passion for hunting with his family, wood working, making quilts, sawing lumber, and building his camp fires.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Bianca Monica, Theresa, NY; two grandsons Patrick Monica, Brewerton, NY; Benjaman Monica, Theresa, NY; one granddaughter, Sandy Baumann, Castorland, NY, and two great-granddaughters, Selena and Hailey.
Robert is predeceased by three children.
The funeral will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home with Pastor D.L. Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa.

Ronald G. Hayes 64, of Barneveld passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2-18 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 11, 1954 in Rome, NY a son of the late Gladstone and Vesta (Wyman) Hayes.
On August 25, 1990 in Remsen, he was united in marriage to Trinda Jantzi a blessed union of over 27 years filled with much love and mutual devotion.
Ronald was a music enthusiast who loved listening to the Beatles. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He loved listening to Blue Moon Café Radio Music show every Sunday Morning.
He is survived by his wife Trinda of Barneveld. He leaves his children, a son, James Hayes and his wife Angela of Westmoreland, daughter, Lindsay Hylla and her husband James of Taberg, son, Lucas Weaver and his companion Erin Marra of Turin, and Abigail Hayes of Barneveld. He leaves his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Keegan, Jonas, Koralee, Ayden and Greyson. He leaves his siblings, Robert Hayes, Patricia Mulvihill, Joan Pelton and her husband David, Elizabeth Wells and her husband Merritt and Richard Hayes and wife Marty. He also leaves his many in-laws and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Briana, a sister-in-law Sandra Hayes, brother-in-law James Mulvihill, a sister-in-law Diana Hayes and a great nephew Gregory Huxley Jr.

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Prosser, 79, of Watertown, passed away April 15, 2018 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Betty was born November 30, 1938 in Newark, NJ , daughter of Frederick and Alma Larwell Ditmars. She graduated from Hackensack High School in New Jersey. Betty attended University of Mary Washington, San Jose State University and Kean University (Newark College) graduating with a bachelor’s of science in Elementary Education. On June 17, 1961, she married David W. Prosser at the Second Reform Dutch Church in Hackensack, NJ. Betty was a full time substitute teacher in the Watertown School System.
Betty has been a Mary Kay consultant since 1984. She loved the product and the company, but most of all the friendships she made thru her journey. She belonged to the P.E.O. Club and the North Country Bird Club. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter Catherine Prosser Polge, Watertown, a son Donald D. Prosser, Los Angeles, CA, four grandchildren, Forrest Prosser, Megan Prosser, and twins, Brandon and Brian Polge.
A celebration of life will be held Friday at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Fred Garry officiating. Funeral services for Emily Jane St. Denny, age 75, of 901 Pickering Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Catherdral with Rev. Mrs. St. Denny passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.
Emily is survived by her two sons, Donald L. St. Denny II of Ogdensburg and Robert St. Denny and his wife, Kelly, of Riverdale, MD; four daughters, Laura Pearson and her husband, John Sr., Janice St. Denny, Pamela Mitchell and her husband, William, and Marcia Luck and her fiancé, Jamie Phillips, of Baytown, TX; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emily was born on August 24, 1942, in Duck River, TN, the daughter of Virgil and Florence Love Vincent. She graduated from Ahrens High School in Louisville, KY. Emily married Donald L. St. Denny on November 26, 1960, in Louisville, KY, where they lived for a year following their marriage. The couple moved to Ogdensburg briefly and then returned to Louisville where they remained from 1962 until 1972. In 1972, they moved back to Ogdensburg to spend the rest of their lives. Mr. St. Denny predeceased Emily on June 15, 2004. Emily first went to work for the Louisville Bat Company as a seamstress, she later worked at Compass, Mitel, and retired from Ansen Corporation as a production assembler.
Emily enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and going on cruises. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Danny Joe Besaw
Antwerp - Calling hours for Danny Joe Besaw, 62, of Killeen, Texas and formerly of Antwerp, will be held at the United Church of Richville on Saturday, April 28th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, prior to a funeral service at noon with pastor Karen Taylor officiating and burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville.
Mr. Besaw passed away quietly on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in a Temple, Texas hospital.
Danny was born on October 20, 1955 in Gouverneur, the son of Keith and Ella (Bishop) Besaw.
He married Katherine “Kaki” McQuade, on August 25, 1979 in Richville. They made their home in Antwerp for 38 years before moving to Killeen, Texas in 2014. Danny was a carpenter and truck driver, but most of all, when not with family, he enjoyed his time spent coaching and mentoring youth. He was always involved with the Indian River Warriors.
Danny was predeceased by his parents, beloved father-in-law, Emerson McQuade, and two sisters, Beatrice Stuckey and Mavis Missinni.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Katherine “Kaki” Besaw, two daughters Kimberly Powell and Tanya Besaw both of Killeen, six brothers Roland (Connie) Bowhall of Wisconsin, Harry (Margaret) Bowhall of Florida, Michael Bowhall, Randy (Barb) Besaw, Pete (Carol) Besaw, Kevin (Kris) Besaw, all of New York. He is also survived by his best fishing buddies and nephews Kyle (Julie) Besaw and Kory (Brandi) Besaw, four sisters Christine (Bim) Fuller, Sue (Rick) Newvine, DeAnna Hadfield (his twin) and Cindy (Vinny) Ferry all of New York, his mother-in-law Joanne McQuade of Richville, and six granddaughters Morgan Powell, Cassidy Dean, Allyson Powell, Teriana Travis, Jazmyn Travis and Leah Powell all of Killeen. Surviving him also are sister-in-law’s Karen (Mark) Franke, Michele (Mark) Erickson, brother-in-law Mike (Jaimee) McQuade as well as many nieces and nephews for whom he had a heart full of love and admiration.
Texas arrangements were at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton and New York arrangements are with Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur.

Fern P. Trowbridge
Fern P. Trowbridge, Ellisburg, passed away Thursday, April 12th in the emergency room at the Samaritan Medical Center. She was 91 years old.
Fern was born September 1, 1926 in Oxbow, the daughter of Clifford and Anna Peterson. She was a high school graduate and graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce. Fern married Frank Trowbridge in 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Trowbridge owned and operated dairy farms in the Adams and Ellisburg areas, retiring in 1969. Fern worked as a secretary for many years, retiring from the MacIlvennie & Brown Insurance Company.
Fern enjoyed working in her flower gardens and loved the home built by her husband Frank. She was very active in her church, the United Methodist Church in Ellisburg. Fern was a youth choir director, a member of the Willing Workers group and a participant in the Prayer and Share group at the church. She was active as a volunteer in many community projects. Fern especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son Arthur; three daughters, Mary Keck, Mannsville, Sally (Bill) Boulton, Ellisburg, and Peggy Trowbridge, Texas; her brother Roger Peterson, Alexandria Bay; her sisters Elsie Fleming and JoAnne Patten, both of Liverpool and Judy Taylor, Adams; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren with another on the way.
Fern was predeceased by her husband Frank and a brother Wendell Peterson.
Fern’s funeral service will be 6 pm Monday, April 23rd at the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, Ellisburg. A Celebration of Life gathering will immediately follow the service at the Adams American Legion.

N. Jack Hunt of Watertown died Sunday April 15, 2018 at his home under the care of Hospice and surrounded by his family. The funeral will be 11:00am Thursday, April 19 at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Pastor Jeffrey Smith, friend of the family, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the service in North Watertown Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, April 18th from 5-8:00pm at the funeral home.
Born in Watertown December 29, 1932 he was the son of Fred P. Hunt and Charleene Lanfare Hunt. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1952. He was a member of the WHS Varsity Wrestling tram and was Section 3 champion in 1951. After graduation he joined the Army and served in the Korean War. He then went to work for Company B 50th Maintenance Battalion New Jersey Army National Guard as a heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement.
He was a member of the local wrestling community and after retirement enjoyed coaching the peewee wrestlers, his son, and grandsons. He never missed a day working out at McGrath gym on Fort Drum where he made some wonderful, caring friends.
He is survived by three children whom he raised, Carrie Stephens and husband Randy VanEpps, Rebekah Hunt and her companion Brian Perkins, Timothy Hunt and his wife Jennifer; 5 grandchildren, Kylee Gibson, Chantelle (Josh) Hamlin-Sharlow, Tyler Stephens, Zachary Hunt, Hailey Hunt; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jaxon Gibson and Lexie Hamlin-Sharlow. He is also survived by his favorite sister, Joyce (James) Ahlstrom; 2 sister in-laws, Lillian Hunt and Jean Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred & Charleene; 6 brothers, Fred, Harlow, Charlie, George, Donald “Moe”, & Raymond; a son in-law, George Stephens; and 2 grandsons, Jordan & Dylan Stephens.

David V. Hopps
HOGANSBURG- David V. Hopps, 88, of 26 Andrew Johnson Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Massena Memorial Hospital.
David was born on June 22, 1929 in Massena, son of the late Vernon David and Elizabeth LaFrance Hopps. He attended reservation schools and proudly served in the US Army, 11th Airborne, Ft. Campbell, KY from 1950-1952 until he was honorably discharged. On June 25, 1955, he married Nancy Arquette at the St. Regis Catholic Church. Nancy predeceased him on September 7, 2001.
He was a member of the St. Regis Catholic Church, and the Tri-District Elders, the American Legion and the Hogansburg Senior Citizens. He loved to play Bingo, and was an avid New York Yankees watcher and a huge fan of Syracuse University basketball. He also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and the Price is Right. But most of all, he cherished his time with his family and grandchildren.
David is survived by his children, Jeffery and Liz Hopps of Baldwinsville; and Neal and Michelle Hopps of Hogansburg; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and his sister, Nancy and Cecil Ransom of Cornwall Island.
Besides his parents and wife, David was predeceased by a grandson, Dillon Casey Hopps on August 25, 1998.
Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Thursday, 2-5PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 10:30 AM, at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating. Burial will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Kateri Cemetery.
