Leo J. Busler

The memorial service for Leo J. Busler will be 12 noon on Friday May 11th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Pastor Don McGrew officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Busler, 82, formerly of Manlius, passed away Monday May 7th at the Samaritan Summit Village.

He is survived by his children, Leo P. “Bud” Busler II, Mannsville, Delbertha “Dee” William Andrews and Elwin Busler (Gail Carr), all of Watertown, and Brian Busler, Felts Mills; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; one brother Henry Busler, Florida; 3 nephews and one niece. A daughter Jean Murray pre-deceased him.

He was born in Watertown April 22, 1936, a son to Leo P. and Delberta Denny Busler. He served with the US Army during the Korean War from 1955-1957.

Mr. Busler worked for Knowlton Brothers and was a driver for Yellow Cab in Watertown for many years.

He enjoyed dancing, old country music and bluegrass music.

COLTON—A Mass of Christian Burial for 97 year old Marguerite C. O’Gorman, a resident of the Maplewood Campus in Canton and formerly of Colton, will be held Friday May 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Colton with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. Burial will follow the services at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Thursday from 3-6 p.m. Mrs. O’Gorman passed away Sunday, May 06, 2018 at the Maplewood Campus in Canton.

Marguerite is survived by her sister Esther Namian of Silver Spring, MD as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert and a sister Rogene Henrie.

Born on Windy Hill in the Town of Pierrepont on November 21, 1920 to the late Maurice and Ella Quinn Corcoran, Marguerite attended the Macabe Country School through the 7th grade and graduated from the Colton High School in June of 1938. She later graduated from the Wallace Secretarial School of Ogdensburg in June of 1939 and became the first secretary for the Colton High School. After one year, she became employed with attorney Charles Murphy Sr. of Potsdam. In May of 1941, Marguerite commenced her employment with the Farmers Production Credit Association in Canton, NY. This organization started in 1934 and covered six counties: Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Lewis. It was operated out of the Clinton Office and Marguerite became responsible for setting up and overseeing the accounting until she retired in 1958. Over the years, through various mergers, it has become known as Country Living from Farm Credit East in Potsdam. It now encompasses six states. Marguerite was also responsible for the books of Judson Heights Dairy, Inc. for 40 years. In 1987 she started serving on the St. Lawrence County Health Board and remained until June of 2005. Also in 1991, Marguerite became a member of the Board of Directors of the Hill Top Manor Senior Citizens Housing in Colton, serving until 2013.

Marguerite married Robert O’Gorman on April 28, 1943 at the St. Patrick’s Church in Colton with Rev. Francis J. Conners officiating. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards, golfing and traveling. In her later years, Marguerite was thankful to her many family members and to Ann Demarais and Betty Smith, her caregivers. Barbara Ann Cunningham

MASSENA – Surrounded by the love of her husband, children, grandchildren, and brothers, Barbara Ann Cunningham, age 74, peacefully passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 8, 2018 in the comfort of her home.

Barbara was born August 4, 1943 in Massena, the daughter of the late Lyle M. and Hazel M. (Tarbell) Rush. She first attended a one room school house in Massena Center before going to Holy Family School and graduating from Massena High School in 1961. On March 7, 1964, she married Edward Dennis Cunningham at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

While her husband was in the military, she worked for at time at a hospital in Syracuse. After moving to Massena, she worked for a short time as a receptionist at Seacomm Federal Credit Union. Barb was a dedicated mother and grandmother assisting in the care of her grandchildren and caring for her home. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she taught Religious Education for many years, volunteered on the Bereavement Committee and assisted at Bingo at both St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s. She also volunteered at Trinity Catholic and St. Joseph’s School and was an Election Inspector for St. Lawrence County. She cherished the time she was able to spend with family, especially the adventures with her grandchildren as the “Road Rage Nana” and going to the horse races at the Malone Fair. She was a true homemaker, providing for her family by canning vegetables and baking, and will be fondly remembered for her homemade bread, meatloaf, and cinnamon rolls. Barb would often be found enjoying her favorite pastime, playing BINGO or playing her favorite card game, Kanasta.

Barb is survived by her loving husband, Edward; her children, Patricia Cunningham of Massena; Susan and Robert Gale of Vernon; Theresa and Jason Camberis of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Michael and Sherry Cunningham of Massena; and Robert and Melanie Cunningham of Massena; her 17 grandchildren, Dustin Barton (Callan), Braydon Cunningham (Nicole), Jensen Estes, Britney Gale (Josh), Truman Gale (Jocelyn), Markus Gale (Morgan), Rebecca Turok (Alex), Abigail, Arielle, and Elisabeth Turok, Delilah and Sarah Cunningham, Jessica Salas (Taylor), Robert Cunningham (Kayla), Amber Cunningham (Austyn), O’Dourghty Cunningham, Eric Stowell (Christine); and four great grandchildren, Whitten “Whit Whit” Lauren, Easton, and Wyatt.

Barb was also survived by her sisters, Kay Kirkey of Massena; Shirley and Gene Eppelheimer of Illinois; Lori and Chris Perry of Massena; her brothers, Charles and Fran Rush of Baldwinsville and Dale and Cathy Rush of Massena; her sister-in-law, Ann Rush of Cornwall; her brother-in-law, Richard Weegar of Massena; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Lou in infancy; a sister, Ellen Weegar in 2009 and her brother, Joseph Rush in 2016.

Friends may call Friday 5-7:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Massena, with Rev. Tojo Chacko, celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hope Lodge in Burlington or Roswell Park Cancer Center.

Mildred Lucas

Mildred Lucas, 84, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2018, at the home of her loving son, Donald, and her daughter-in-law, Lynn, where she had resided for the last year and a half. She was also under the care of the amazing people of Hospice and the compassionate care of Dr. Desai.

She married Donald Lucas in Madrid where they resided until his passing January 2, 2000, just short of 50 years of marriage.

Mildred loved her family and her pets. She had fond memories of years of snowmobiling and hunting with her husband at their camp in Parishville. She enjoyed family gaPtherings at their camp on the Grasse River. She loved visiting and telling stories of the olden days of dancing and playing cards with dear friends.

Mildred was a hard worker all of her life. Her last job was at ALCOA where she held her own at various jobs even running a jackhammer, working alongside men that all called her “Ma”.

Mildred was very active in the Auxiliary of the American Legion 3741, Madrid, and enjoyed her friends and many luncheons with the Red Hat Group.

Mildred is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lynn Lucas, her daughter, Sherry Dominie, three grandchildren, Rachel Favreau, Nicole Dominie and Jason Dominie, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her daughter, Charmaine, her two brothers, William LeMere and George LeMere, three sisters, Marie Vinch, Patricia Barkley and Phylis Smithers.

Per Mildred’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Southwick MA – Teresa H. (Lawyer) Cheal, 97, of Southwick died Wednesday May 9, 2018 in Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on October 3, 1920 in Watertown, NY daughter of the late Andrew E. and Helen D. (Mance) Lawyer. Teresa graduated from Brownville Glen Park High School in 1939 and worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Watertown, NY. and Louisville, KY. She was a member of the Home Bureau, the Glen Park Fire Dept., Auxiliary, the Alter and Rosary Society of Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville and the Board of Election in Brownville. Teresa married Howard F. Cheal on January 31, 1942. Howard passed away in 2005. She leaves her daughter, Carolyn M. (Cheal) Laptik and her husband Richard of Southwick, MA, two granddaughters Taunya Jeffries and her husband Ryan of Colchester, CT. and Kendra Shogren and her husband Bryan of East Hampton, CT. Teresa also leaves her three great grandchildren, Ella and Ruby Jeffries and Lucy Shogren. The funeral will be Saturday May 12, 2018 at 11 AM from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service 76 Broad St. Westfield,MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick at 12 Noon. David E. Magee

David E. Magee, 88, Watertown passed away at his home Monday, May 7, 2018.

The family will receive friends from 10 - 11AM on Saturday, May 12, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. The funeral service will follow at 11AM with Fr.. Michael Gaffney presiding. This will be followed by the burial in Brookside Cemetery with military honors.

David was born June 14, 1929 in Taunton, MA, son of David J. and Edith A. Chamberlain Magee and he graduated from Taunton High School.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Army on August 21, 1947. He served overseas in Japan and Korea several times and his stateside service included Ft. Devens, MA, Seattle, WA, San Francisco, CA, and Pine Camp, NY. He received the United Nations Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with six bronze service stars, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 20, 1953 from active duty and on January 31, 1957 from the reserves.

A marriage to Carol J. Schofield ended in divorce. He later married Shirley J. Dibble, who passed away January 9, 1986.

David was initiated into the IBEW Local 910 in August 1956 and became a Journeyman Electrician. He retired from Dexelectrics in Watertown.

He was Catholic, a lifetime member of Eagles Aerie 782, and a member of both VFW Post 1400 and American Legion Post 61. With his wife, Shirley, David enjoyed horse races at Vernon Downs and dog races in MA, never reaping any rewards from his “system”. He truly appreciated that his granddaughter, Jessica, would take him to the mall several days a week so he could enjoy his “coffee club” with Fred, Lois, and Bob, along with all the others he met over the years. He also enjoyed playing the stock market, with his biggest regret selling his Microsoft stock long before it gained today’s value. David’s family enjoyed hearing about his time as a medic in the Army, of which he often reminded them.

He is survived by his three daughters, Carol A. Cerow, Watertown, Susan Magee and companion, Bill Sullivan, Clayton, and Laura Warner and husband, Ray, Dexter; six grandchildren, Erika, Jessica, Megan, Kristen, Amanda, and Alex; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Sylvia and Rita Roberts, both of Taunton, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Bennett, who passed in August 1990.

It is with great sadness the family of Theta F. Corliss announces she has completed time here on Earth and joined our Heavenly Father on May 7, 2018 at her home in Dexter, NY.

Theta was born on August 25, 1938 in Rutland, NY to Donald M. Rich and Hazel E. Rich. She attended high school and graduated from Saratoga Springs, NY in 1956. She then traveled and worked in NYC for awhile after graduation. She met Everett W. Corliss and they married on May 22, 1960 in Saratoga Springs. They lived with their four daughters in Clinton, Utica, Little Falls and Richville NY before settling in Dexter for rest of her life.

While raising her children, she worked at various jobs including The Adirondack Trust Co., Saratoga Springs, NY, The Globe, Watertown, NY, General Brown Central High School Cafeteria, Brownville, NY, and as Village Clerk in Dexter, NY before retiring.

As a youth she was a Nanny to the Charlie Dake Family and also volunteered as a Candy Striper for a time. Theta loved being involved in the community groups and volunteered her time whenever possible. She was the treasurer in the Dexter Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary, member of the Dexter Citizen’s Committee, member of the Dexter Presbyterian Church and Dexter Methodist Church, member of the Dexter Library Board, and President of the Dexter Historical Society. Theta was honored the award of Citizen of the Year in 1996. Theta loved collecting antiques, gardening, genealogy, classical music, Women’s Birthday Club gatherings and most of all spending time with her family.

Theta is survived by her daughters Renee & Rich Semeraro, Oakville, CT., Karen Velazquez, Dexter, NY, Carol & Craig Greene, Dexter, NY, and Lori Rieves, Dexter, NY. 9 grandchildren, Travis Ryan, Joseph Taylor, Tarah Pawloski, Krista Taylor, Robert Semeraro, Kelli Velazquez, Shelby Greene, Kerstain Rieves and Dominic Semeraro. She was blessed with one great grandchild, Qiunn Taylor. One brother and sister-in-law Stephen and Caye Rich, Watertown,

NY. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Along with her family she leaves behind many wonderful friends and her precious kitty Gracie who she will watch over from above.

Theta was predeceased by her parents Don and Hazel Rich, her son-in-law Mark Velazquez, her brother-in-law Earl Corliss, her father and mother-in-law William and Jennie Corliss, Uncles Aunts and Cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter, NY on Friday May 11, 2018 from 2pm to 4 pm and 6pm to 8 pm. A funeral will be held at Airport Christian Fellowship Church, NYS Rte 12F Dexter, NY at 11am on Saturday May 12, 2018 with Cheryl Gmitter officiating. Burial in Dexter Cemetery will be held following the service.

Funeral services for Michael L. Weston, age 71, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Frary Funeral Home in Ogdensburg at 2:00PM with Rev. Robert Schirmer officiating. Mr. Weston passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Michael is survived by two sons, Keith Weston and his wife, Angela, of Ogdensburg, NY and Kris Weston and his wife, Valerie, of Ogdensburg, NY; a daughter, Maria Weston-Garvey and her husband, Michael, of Heuvelton, NY; a brother, Gordon Weston and his wife, Mickie, of Norfolk, VA; his companion, Angie Dixon; five grandchildren, Zachary Michael Weston, Ashley Marie Weston, Paige Weston, Trent Weston and Mason Garvey; two step grandchildren Christopher Power and Jacob Love along with many nieces and nephews and Barbara Pliscofsky, who held a special place in his heart. He is predeceased by a brother, Raymond Weston.

Michael was born on January 2, 1947, in Burlington, VT, the son of Chester and Phyllis Lane Weston. Michael graduated from Moiria High School and later received a degree from Canton ATC. Michael joined the United States Navy in 1967. He served overseas in Vietnam and was later honorably discharged in 1970. Michael later went on to become a New York State Trooper and during that time earned an additional degree from North Country Community College. Michael became a NYS Trooper in 1972 and retired in 2003 at the rank of Zone Sergeant. Michael married Patricia Smith, and after three children and many years of marriage, they went their separate ways but remained close friends.

Michael enjoyed golf, cars, and playing his guitars.

Linda is survived by her daughter Samantha Kinney and her fiancé Geoffrey Ibey, Madrid; her two beloved granddaughters, Riley Lin and Piper Rose; her father, Lindon Kinney, Chase Mills; a brother, David Kinney, Chase Mills and two sisters, Vicky and David Goldman, Norfolk and Cheryl and Tim Gagne, Raymondville as well as one niece and four nephews. Linda was pre-deceased by her mother, Nancy Kinney.

Born in Potsdam, NY on August 25, 1958 to Lindon and Nancy Brothers Kinney, Linda graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from SUNY Potsdam. Linda worked for St. Lawrence County as an service assistant and later worked for Pathstones Inc. in Potsdam as the Senior Employment Specialist. Linda was a member of the NYS Federation of Home Bureau, a past Girl Scout Leader and was a very creative and artistic person, making incredible drawings and etched glass artwork as well as doing many crafts. Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family, friends and cuddling with her two granddaughters. MASSENA-- A Celebration of Life for 67 year old Frieda M. Dissottle, a resident of 9 Laurel Ave, Massena, will be held at the Norfolk Fire Hall in Raymondville, NY on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. Frieda passed away on May 8, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with her family at her side after her battle with health issues. Frieda is survived by her children Eugene Dissottle, Winthrop; Gerald Dissottle, Winthrop; Susan and Kris Compeau; Mexico and Nancy and Gordon Richards, Canton; her beloved 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dawn Paro, Norfolk; a brother, Robert Wadleigh, Washington State; her companion of 27 years, David Laraby, Massena as well as several nieces and nephews. Frieda was pre-deceased by her parents, a brother Donald Wadleigh, a sister Midge Beggs and two grandchildren, John Butler and Kayla Dissottle.

Born in Massena on November 12, 1950 to the late Loran and Dorothy Furnace Wadleigh, Frieda was a homemaker. A marriage of several years to Eugene Dissottle ended in divorce. Anna E. Stoker, 97, passed away Tuesday, May 8th at Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident since 2017.

Anna was born June 12, 1920 to James and Lillian Franklin Trevett. She graduated from Adams High School and worked for several years at Lally’s Manufacturing, Adams. Before entering Samaritan Keep Home Anna was a longtime resident of Adams. Anna is survived by her children; Cheryl Summers, Colorado; Donald James Stoker, Adams; her grandchildren, Christina Perkins and Greg Siracuse. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Donald who passed away in 1980. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
