Constance May Mooney

Port Leyden – Constance May Mooney, 71, of Moose River Road, wife of Gerald, passed away at her residence, on Sunday, October 14, 2018, while under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Connie was born on March 3, 1947 in Rome, a daughter of Clark and Pauline Dumas Salmon. She grew up in Watertown and Lowville, graduating from Lowville Academy and Central School with the Class of 1965. For a time she was employed at Kraft Foods, Lowville and then Lally Manufacturing, Port Leyden.

On January 18, 1985 Connie was united in marriage with Gerald E. Mooney. Together with her husband they ran CJ’s Dinner in Brantingham, where they also operated the Brantingham Post Office, retiring in1996.

Connie loved playing cards, and will be fondly remembered for her skill at decorating both inside and out for the changing seasons and holidays. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were cherished by her, and she found her greatest joy in the time she spent with them.

Besides her husband Gerald, Connie is survived by her children: John Burdick, Sr. (Cheryl), Michelle (Clifford) Colwell, and Kevin Burdick; grandchildren: Derek (Katie) Carpenter, John Burdick, Jr., Mitchell Burdick, Mackenzie (Taylor) Dorrity, Kayla (Ryan) Weber, Shawna Burdick, and Kaleb Burdick; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Danika Weber, Isabella Burdick, Gannon and Laila Burdick, and Mariah and Mallory Dorrity; daughter in law, Amber Burdick; siblings: Mary LaFleur, Barbara Nylen, Patricia Taylor, Michael (Donna) Gentry, and Jess (Amanda) Gentry. She was predeceased by an infant son Clark Burdick, granddaughter Chloe Burdick, her parents, and siblings: Annie Greenfield, John June, and Debra Hurley.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, with a 10:00 A.M. prayer service at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Martin’s Church, Port Leyden. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours are Tuesday, from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Marjorie A. Hyde

Marjorie A. Hyde, 99, passed away at her home in Watertown NY on October 12, 2018. She was born in Carthage, NY on March 4, 1919, a daughter of William H. and Lillie Cancross Wallace. After the death of her parents, Marjorie and her identical twin Margaret were raised by their Uncle and Aunt, Robert and Hattie Jacobs. She lived most of her life in Watertown, NY. Marjorie was preceded in death by her first husband John D. Cartin in 1968. She later married Charles R. Hyde who passed away in 2011.

Marjorie graduated from Copenhagen High School in 1937. Following high school, she dedicated the next 44 years of her life to patient care as a compassionate nurse. She was a 1940 graduate of The House of the Good Samaritan Nursing School, where she first worked as a nurse for the medical surgery unit. Marjorie worked as a private duty registered nurse for much of her career. She later worked as a nurse supervisor at the House of the Good Samaritan until she retired in 1984.

Upon retirement she enjoyed volunteering at the House of the Good Samaritan, was a life member of the House of the Good Samaritan Alumni Association and Auxiliary and served as a member of the New York State Nurses Association. Marjorie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Jefferson County Historical Society, Precious Blood Auxiliary, and a former member of the New York State Cemetery Association. She was also a recipient of the Paul Harris Rotary Award.

Marjorie enjoyed bowling and was a league member. She was a loyal fan of Syracuse University Basketball. She also enjoyed golfing, was an avid player into her 80’s, and a member of the Watertown Golf Club. Being a skilled bridge player, she thoroughly enjoyed the game and played up until her passing. She was a member of the N.N.Y. Bridge Club and American Contract Bridge League.

A loving mother and grandmother, Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Catherine (Cartin) and husband Jerry Reback of Sun City Center, Florida and Nancy (Cartin) and husband Paul Lightcap of Eagleville, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters; Kelly (Jeff) Hill, Heather (Mark) Graham Tracy, and Kimberly (William) Freeman; and eight great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret Trahan and Ellen Prievo, and her brother John Wallace.

A special thanks to our loyal and faithful friends Roxy and Ray Akins and her kind neighbors Dr. and Mrs. Paul Michaelson.

A funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 22, at 11 AM with Rev. Fred G. Garry, pastor, presiding. There will be no calling hours and burial in Brookside Cemetery is at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

She was predeceased by her mother Robin Barber, maternal grandparents Clyde & Jacqueline Bennett, and paternal grandfather Jack Pike

Ashley was born on Sept 5, 1985 in Ogdensburg NY, the daughter of James Pike & Robin Bennett. She attended Heuvelton and Ogdensburg Schools for her education, and later received her GED. She worked in area restaurants for many years, and enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards & board games, listening to music and telling jokes.

William “Bill” Revelle

William “Bill” Revelle, 91, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY following three weeks of wonderful care by Samaritan’s attentive nurses and aides.

Born in Watertown on July 9, 1927, to E. Balfour and Anna (Hickey) Revelle, Bill lived most of his life in the North Country. Graduating early from Watertown High School in January, 1945, he immediately enlisted in the Army for two years spent primarily in Germany. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, the Army of Occupation Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 20th at 1 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Watertown. Velma B. Closs

Velma B. Closs, 77, of Hammond, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Riverledge Nursing Home, Ogdensburg where she has resided for eleven years.

Velma was born in Carthage on April 27th, 1941, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Dorothy (Wells) Rogers. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1959. She worked at W.T Grants in Carthage until her marriage. She married Carl R. Closs on March 4, 1962 at the First Baptist Church, Carthage. They lived in Naumburg, Morley and Carthage before moving to Hammond in 1965.

Velma enjoyed camping and fishing. Many happy hours with family members were spent in the fishing boat. Holidays were very special for her, especially when her children and grandchildren were with her. She loved baking many different cookies, breads and pies for the holidays. For many years she used her love of sewing, knitting and painting to make beautiful craft items which she sold at craft fairs. Friday afternoons you could find Velma and Carl dancing to the live music at Riverledge Nursing Home. Her biggest pride and joy were her children and grandchild.

She is survived by her husband Carl R. Closs of Hammond; a son Chad (JoeyLynn) Closs of Oswego; a daughter Trina (Frank) Cuccia of Goshen; a son Dana Closs of Liverpool; a daughter Krista (Sean) Tompkins of Springfield, VA; eight grandchildren; Miranda, Chase, Haley, Carissa, Frankie, Trinity, Gabriel, and Maeve; a sister; Aletha Streeter of Carthage; a sister in-law Jean Oliver Miller, Ontario; two brother in-laws Gary Oliver, Auburn and Terry Oliver, NC and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Gilbert W. Rogers, Jr, sister in-law Jeanette Caulkins and a sister and brother in-law, Evelyn and Marco Orasi, Auburn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 19 at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State St., Carthage with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 18 from 4-6pm at the funeral home.

Sharon A. (Brabaw) Allen

Sharon A. (Brabaw) Allen, 74, of Pyrites passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, October 15, 2018.

Sharon was born June 22, 1944 in Pyrites, the daughter of the late Ceylon and Jessie (Martin) Brabaw. She attended elementary school in Pyrites and graduated from Canton Central School. She married Paul L. Allen Jr. on April 20, 1963. He predeceased her on August 1, 1999.

Sharon worked for LaidLaw Bus Service for Lisbon School, Canton Central School and St. Lawrence University where she cooked at various fraternity and sorority houses. She enjoyed camping, riding motor cycles and long rides in cars where she would jam out to her favorite songs. Her favorite movie was Turner and Hooch and Pretty Woman. She had a great sense of humor, was a caring and loving women who was always willing to lend a hand. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. But she will be most remembered for all of her home cooking.

Sharon is survived by three daughters, Theresa Butterfield of Ogdensburg; April (Edward) Planty of Potsdam and Paula (Mark) Niles of Canton; grandchildren, Tiffany, Billy (Amanda), Allen, Theron, Dakota, Austin, Gabriella and April; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaiah, Logan, Alona, Wyatt, Zander. Also surviving are a brother, Wayne (Patty) Brabaw of Potsdam and a sister, Marlene (Arnold) Cota of S. Carolina as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by a brother, Ceylon and by sisters, Eunice, Pauline, Bonnie and Joan.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. A graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery, Canton will be held at a later date.

Joyce Margaret Terrillion

LOWVILLE- Joyce Margaret Terrillion, 85, of Lowville, died Monday evening on October 15, 2018 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility. She was formerly of Jackson Street.

Mrs. Terrillion was born on September 13, 1933 in Lowville, the daughter of the late Charles Delos and Marie Elizabeth (Cannan) Petrie. She was a graduate of Lowville Free Academy. Joyce married Wilson A. Terrillion on December 27, 1952 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Msgr. John Cotter, officiating. Wilson died on July 30, 2015.

Joyce was a deputy for St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department where she retired after 23 years of service. She loved playing cards and going to the Turning Stone Casino, knitting, crocheting, and spending time in Florida with her Massena friends.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Charles C. (Marsha) Terrillion; and Cathy J. (Timothy) Buckingham all of Lowville; her granddaughter, Cortney E.V. Terrillion of Greenwich, CT; her sister, Connie Nortz of Cape Coral, FL; her brother, Charles L. (Shirley) Petrie of Nedrow; sisters-in-law, Claire Petrie and Rene Petrie.

Joyce is predeceased by her grandson, Charles C. Terrillion, II, her brothers, Robert Petrie and Thomas Petrie, and her sister, Loyola “Kate” Plummer.

She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where her funeral mass will be said on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Lowville Rural Cemetery. Per Joyce’s wishes there are no calling hours.

Michael J. Burke Sr.

CARTHAGE – Michael J. Burke Sr., 68, died on Monday night, October 15, 2018 at Upstate Medical University, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born on April 13, 1950 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late Gordon and Dorothy Houghton Burke. He graduated from Carthage High School. Michael served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1971, during the Vietnam War. He worked various jobs, most recently at the Guthrie Clinic on Fort Drum as a laborer.

In 1992, he married Jennie Smith at Black River Baptist Church.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jennie; five sons, Michael Burke Jr., Carthage, NY; Marshall Burke, North Carolina; Patrick Burke, Virginia; Joshua Robinson, Missouri; Jess Burke, Carthage, NY; one daughter, Stacy Burke, Carthage, NY; four brothers, Thomas Burke, Rome, NY; Gene Burke, Champion, NY; Lynn Burke, Carthage, NY; John Burke; one sister, Anne Burge, Anchorage, AK; two granddaughters and 2 grandsons.

He is predeceased by a sister, Patricia Burke, and a brother, Gary Burke.

Michael loved caring for people; he visited people in various nursing homes. He had a true passion for ministry; he was a leader Long Falls Baptist Church

Callings hours will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4 – 6 PM at Long Falls Baptist Church, 35794 Rte. 126, Carthage, NY. A memorial service immediately will follow, at 6:00 PM.

Chris is survived by his wife, Tracy Weeks; his parents, Kenneth and Mary Weeks of Harrisville, NY; a sister, Allison Weeks of Liverpool, NY; two step-children, Tristin Crawford and his significant other, Elissa Longley of Pulaski, NY and Cierra Tarr of Watertown, NY; a grandson, Asher Crawford of Pulaski, NY; his grandfather, Floyd (Skip) Weeks of Harrisville, NY and several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

Chris was born on October 3, 1977, in Carthage, NY, the son of Kenneth and Mary Pike Weeks. He graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1996 and later attended SUNY Canton and Jefferson Community College. Chris married Tracy Daugherty on December 15, 2007 in Watertown, NY. Mr. Weeks was employed with the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department for several years as Fire Chief, later becoming EMS Chief for over fifteen years. He joined the fire department in 1998 and later became an EMT in 2002. Mr. Weeks was also a driver for the Carthage Fire Department. Chris was named Fireman of the year in 2017 and 2018 ALS Provider of Lewis County.

Chris was an avid Syracuse Crunch, NY Giants, Buffalo Sabres and Syracuse University basketball fan. He also enjoyed golfing. Work was always a hobby of Chris’s.

Gerald L. Shepherd

Gerald L. Shepherd, 73, of Gartland Rd., died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at SUNY Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, NY, where he had been a patient since an accident six weeks ago.

Born on February 4, 1945 in Watertown, NY, he was a son of Lorne and Ethel Leuze Shepherd. He attended Evans Mills High School and Indian River Central School.

Gerald married Diana Redmond of Philadelphia, NY in Charleston, SC, in February of 1965.

He entered the US Navy in 1964, sailed around the world working as a boilerman and was honorably discharged in 1968. After his military service, he worked as a HVAC technician for various companies on the East Coast and retired from Derouin Plumbing & Heating in 2012.

Gerald enjoyed his garden and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife 53 years, Diana; five children, daughter,Tracey Russell and husband Brett, Evans Mills, NY, daughter, Tammy Taylor and husband, Joseph, Glen Park, NY, son, Troy Shepherd, Evans Mills, NY, and daughter, Brandi Shepherd, Evans Mills, NY; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Shepherd, Evans Mills, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorna and Robert Froemming, MN; an honorary daughter, Pam Myers, New Philadelphia, OH; nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, two brothers, Paul Shepherd and Russell Shepherd, a sister, Linda Dillabaugh and a son-in-law, Daniel Desrosiers all died previously.

Graveside services will be 11 am Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Sanford Corners Cemetery, NYS Rt. 342, Calcium, NY 13616.

Joan L. Morris, 81, of Avon Park, Florida, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the home of her son.

Born on August 12, 1937 in Worcester, MA, she was a daughter of the late Harold H. and Marguerite Cody Evarts. She attended Worcester Girls Trade School in MA.

Joan married Harold R. Morris, Jr., on August 6, 1962. He died October 30, 2012.

She worked as a private duty home health aide for many years.

Joan was a member of the First Christian Church, Florida.

She enjoyed playing the piano, going shopping, WWE Wrestling, Thursday nights at Highway Legends Car Club, Watertown, NY and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four children; son and daughter-in-law, Harold “Steve” Morris, III and wife, Sandra, Theresa, NY, daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Spencer and husband, Jack, Dryden, NY, son and daughter-in-law, Albert Morris and wife, Shannon, Avon Park, FL, daughter, Diane Costain, NJ; a brother, Robert Evarts, Holden, MA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her dog, Cujo; nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Joan’s Life 1 pm Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Theresa Fire Hall, 400 Mill Street, Theresa, NY 13691.

Gary William Brown Jr.

Gary William Brown Jr., age 47 recently of Adams, NY passed away Tuesday at the Samaritan Medical Center following a brief illness.

Gary was born June 3, 1971 in Watertown the son of Gary and Virginia Denning Brown Sr. He graduated from General Brown Central and took some college courses.

He was a member of VFW of Watertown, Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with his father and was very active in International Shooting, winning several competitions as a member of the New York State Corrections in his 24 years of service. He was also a very accomplished artist and could make just about anything by hand. He enjoyed playing GB Football, creating wood carvings, pack baskets, leather-crafts, Loved his dogs Duke and Cora and enjoyed NASCAR and the outdoors.

Gary worked for the New York State Corrections Dept. as a weapons and chemical agent instructor.

Surviving are three sisters: Mary and Paul Grant of Watertown, Lura Kinne of Adams Center and Tina and Mike Goodwin of Brownville. He has six nephews , aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Gary Sr. and Virginia Brown.

Lucia A. Scordo, 82, of Thompson Blvd., passed away October 15, 2018, at the Samaritan Medical Center, surrounded by her family, where she had been a patient for a short time.

Lucia was born May 15, 1936, in Watertown, daughter of Vincenzo J. and Marianna Agnesina Scordo. She graduated from Watertown High School. Lucia was a legal secretary and notary for her brother Jack Scordo in his law office for many years. She was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of St. Anthony’s Church, a member of the Italian American Civic Association; a volunteer for the Bravo Italiano Fest where she and her sister Toni served at the Cultural Booth, “La Famiglia”. She was an Associate of the Religious Teachers of Filippini in Morristown, NJ, traveling to Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorie, and Oberammergau. Lucia was a sports fan, in high school where she played basketball and softball, and in her adult life played tennis, for many years. She enjoyed watching the Yankees, Giants and Syracuse Basketball.

Surviving are two sisters, Caterina “Kay” and her husband, Fortunato “Fred” Benedetto, Watertown, Antoinetta A. “Toni”, Watertown, several nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Italy. Lucia was the “eleven” of the eleven, the baby of the family. Her sibling’s that passed before her were, Frances , Mary , Fortunato “Ben”, Giuseppe “Joe”, Sebastian “Gus”, Sr. Grace, MPF, Giacomo “Jack” and Carmelina “ Millie”.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-6pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held on Saturday at 10:15 am at the funeral home with an 11 am funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Christopher Looby officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. LOWVILLE- David Collins, 80, formerly of West Road, Lowville, passed away Saturday morning, October 17, 2018 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where he had resided since August 10, 2015.

A funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Peters Catholic Church, with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a luncheon at St. Peter’s Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the burial. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christina; ten children and their spouses, Michael and Theresa Collins of Syracuse, Mary and Jose Interiano of Croghan, Brigid and Thomas Fayle of Lowville, David Collins of Albany, William and Jaznia Collins of Forest Hills, James Collins of Lowville, Danny and Katie Collins of Buffalo, John and Sammy Collins of Rome, Kathleen and David Orth of Eaton, Lymen Mecca Collins of Port Leyden; 20 grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Collins of Riverdale, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and William Collins.

David was born on October 7, 1938 in Spanish Harlem, NY, of immigrant parents, William and Bridie Donaghue Collins and attended St. Raymond’s Catholic School in the Bronx. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served until his honorable discharge in November, 1961. He worked for the New York State Thuruway Authority for 20 years as a bridge painter on the Tappan Zee Bridge, when he met his future wife. On November 19, 1966, he married Christina Noonan at Our Lady of Angel’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY with Father Phillips, officiating. The couple farmed in Middletown, NY for eight years and then moved to the farm on the West Road in Lowville in 1987. Together, with his wife, owned and operated the dairy farm until his retirement in 2002.

David was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. His passion was Irish Traditional Music, his family and farming.

David E. Backus, 61, Mechanic St., passed away Friday October 12th, 2018 at his home.

The memorial service will be 2 pm Saturday, October 27th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Felts Mills Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 1 pm at the funeral home.

David is survived by his brother Rodney (Susan) Backus, Rodman; his sister Linda Backus, Syracuse; a niece Melissa (Ben) Poirier and a nephew Ryan (Kim) Backus; 2 great nieces and a great nephew; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He was born in Watertown, September 24th, 1957, a son to Donald C. and Shirley M. Millen Backus. He graduated from Watertown High School. David worked for Northland Electric and Scott Fetzer for over 20 years.

David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his Harley Davidson motorcycles and always enjoyed a good laugh with his friends.

JOYCE A. (PAGE) BUSH

MASSENA- Joyce A. (Page) Bush, 78, of 81 Nightengale Avenue, peacefully passed away early Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018 at the St. Regis Nursing Home. She had been in failing health.

Joyce was born on April 16, 1940 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Glenwood and Ruth Hatch Brothers. She graduated from St. Lawrence Central School, and on November 10, 1956 she married Robert L. Page at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk, with Msgr. Francis Connors officiation. Robert predeceased her on January 18, 2003. On May 19, 2007 she married Arnold E. Bush, Sr. at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the Jolly Agers in Norfolk, the Massena Seniors Citizens, and the Parkinson’s Support Group. Joyce worked for 24 years as a clerk at the Ames Department store in Massena. She enjoyed travelling and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by her husband Arnold; and four children, Cynthia and Gary Felstein of Florida; Randy and Deanna Page of Potsdam; Ricky Page of Stockholm; and Michael Page of Columbus, Indiana; six stepchildren, Diane Miller of Massena; Nancy Bush of Massena; Steven Bush of Albany; Arnold E. Jr. and Llauni Bush of Norfolk; Christopher and Jill Bush of Buria, Ohio; and Aaron and Michael Bush of Albany; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sister Joan Major of Canton, NY and Ohio; and two brothers, Harold and Sandra Brothers of Massena; and Clyde and Phyllis Brothers of Arizona.

Besides her parents Glenwood and Ruth, Joyce was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford and Vernon Brothers.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, on Monday 5-7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Louisville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Richard L. French, 88, of East Syracuse passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 16, 2018. He was born in Norwood, NY and graduated from Norwood High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from New York Telephone Company. Following retirement he worked for Robson & Woese Inc.

He was a member of the Norwood Fire Department where he was past chief and a member of the Norwood Brass Firemans Band. He served on the Norwood Village Board.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally Despaw French; daughter, Debbie (Steve) McGraw of North Syracuse; brothers, Philip French and Gary French; grandchildren, Justine and Adam; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy French; and siblings, Norma, Joan, Robert and Mary Lou French.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Rd., Minoa. Esther Ruth Feldmann passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at St. Johns Home, Rochester, NY. She was born on January 7, 1918 in Lowville, New York, the daughter of F. Earle and Edna (Smith) Wideman.

On January 12, 1946 she married John Robert Feldmann of Bushton, Kansas. John proceeded her in death on December 3, 1991. They had 3 daughters; Catherine Ann who was still-born. Surviving are Mary Elizabeth (Peter) Miller, Decatur, Illinois and Bethany Ann (John) Schempp Webster, NY; 5 granddaughters - Jennifer (Matthew) Bradley, Penfield, NY, Emily (Kyle) Pospischil, Davenport, Iowa, Sara (Jason) Brownell, Rochester, NY, Christina (Casey) Wilen, Decatur, IL, Marissa Miller, Decatur, IL, and 11 great grand-children, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with Jennings, Nulton and Mattle Funeral Home. Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 21st from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Penfield Presbyterian Church, 1881 Jackson Road, Penfield, NY where the funeral service will follow at 2:15 pm.
