Ida was a dietary technician for Cornell Cooperative Extension; United Helpers Nursing Home and later for Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she retired in 2004. /ppIda was a quiet, caring, supportive person, who preferred to remain in the background of life, but enjoyed watching those around her succeed and achieve their goals. pHUDSON FALLS – Freda Daillie Holley, formerly of Coleman Ave, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital./ppBorn on June 13, 1916, in Dundee, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mathewina Ireland./ppOn September 13, 1941, she married William Holley. Robbins, 82 of Dexter passed away Friday morning at Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient since April 16th./ppBeverly was born January 3, 1934 in Dexter, the daughter of Lawrence and Lenore Hilts Kirch. She was educated in the one room school in Belfort. She married James Robbins on May 12, 1984 and lived in Dexter on the Robbins Farm. She worked as kitchen designer and retired from Sears Dept. Store in the late 1980’s, and also had worked at General Brown High School, she and her sister in-law started B&J Bait Shop in Dexter and in her early years she did daycare./ppShe liked bingo, fishing, shopping, Casino bus trips, sewing and crafting homemade jewelry, loved baking, her grandchildren and flowers and gardening. She also loved her dog Barney./ppShe is survived by her husband James, a daughter Maureen Connors and her husband Michael Seitz of Yorktown, Virginia, a son Daniel Connors and his wife Mary of Newport News, Virginia; 3 grandchildren- Patricia, Elizabeth and Ethan 2 great grandchildren Danielle and Phillip. Step children include Jennie Lynne Bond of Clayton, John Robbin of Dexter, Step grandchildren are Patrick and Kyle Bond and Ashley Aarons and step great grand’s are Corrinne, Laurel, Jackson and McKenna. She has sisters: Mary Jane BeCraft of Chaumont, Doris Reed of Chaumont, Barbara (Ron) Smith of Dexter, and brothers: Dewey and Betty Kirch of Carthage, Claude and Judy Kirch of Dexter and David and Marlene Kirch of Dexter and several nieces and nephews./ppShe is predeceased by a brother Wilbert Kirch and on April 20, 2016 her twin brother Bernard Kirch passed./ppA funeral service will be held Tuesday April 26th at 12:00 noon at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Fr. pHARRISVILLE – Blaine E. Thomas, 75, of the N. Shore Road, passed away early Friday morning, April 22, 2016 at the Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm, Gotham Street./ppA memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 for family and friends at the Harrisville Fire Department at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville./ppBlaine was born on November 23, 1940 at home at Lake Bonaparte, NY the son of the late Fred C. and June VanSlyke Thomas. He grew up and attended school at Racquette Lake, NY and was drafted in 1963, serving at Ft. Drum and was discharged from active duty in 1965./ppHe married Pauline Kaler on July 16, 1966 at the home of her parents in Honeoye Falls, NY. He was employed as a truck and snowplow driver in Irondequoit, NY, before changing to work in the Gypsum Mines in Oakfield, NY. Blaine then moved to Gouverneur, NY, to work as a miner at St. Joe Mineral Company. When the mine closed he acquired his CDL license and drove tractor trailer, and log trucks until his retirement./ppHe is survived by his wife, a daughter, Susan (David) Alberson of Stratford, Oklahoma; a son James of Plymouth, Maine; a daughter Jennifer (Louis) Beck of Lowville; ten grandchildren; two adopted great grandchildren; a sister Audrey Thomas of Mount Morris, NY; a sister Shirley Hoover of Harrisville; a sister Joselyn Chopay of Lowville; several nieces and nephews, and his father-in-law Luther Kaler of Harrisville. He is predeceased by a sister, Enid Cady and a granddaughter Gillian Alberson./ppBlaine enjoyed making French Fries at family reunions, camping, traveling, playing guitar, and making doll furniture and model houses. He had been an assistant Scout Master in the 1980’s for Harrisville Boy Scouts. Blaine was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus./ppMr. Thomas had been an invalid at home for several years before admission to Jefferson County Hospice House. pA Mass of Christian Burial for 80 year old Mrs. Mabel E. Davison of Edwards will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edwards, NY, with Rev. Stephen Rocker, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Edwards. Immediately following the burial there will be a celebration of life luncheon at the Methodist Church in Edwards hosted by the Edwards Vol. Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary for family and friends. Friends may call at the family home in Edwards on Monday afternoon 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Mrs. Davison died at her home in Edwards on Friday, April 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. /ppMabel was born in Edwards, NY March 25, 1936, daughter of Frank Charles Allen and Vesta Ellen (Rice) Allen. She completed her high school degree at Edwards High School. On October 9, 1954 Mabel married Clifford W. Davison in the Chapel at Bainbridge, MD Naval Base. /ppSurvivors include her husband Clifford of Edwards, 4 daughters: Mrs. Jeffrey (Shelly) Clemens, Security, CO; Sheree (Dr. Manoj) Vora of Lowville; Mrs. Jeffrey (Linda) Hill of Gouverneur; and Mrs. Gregory (Mabel) Peabody, of Star Lake, NY./ppAlso surviving are 5 sons: Jeffrey Davison of Fowler; Clifford & Angelene Davison of Somerville, SC; Vernon Davison & Kate Harmer of Edwards; William & Sandra Davison of Edwards; Bryan (& Jeannie) Davison of Tupper Lake, along with many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews./ppOther survivors include five sisters: Mrs. David (Nancy) Bowhall, Philadelphia, NY; Mrs. Francis (Ellen) Thornton, of Philadelphia, NY; Sally Mathews, of Edwards, Martha Allen and Arthur Tibbits, of Edwards; Mrs. James (Karen) Whitton of Hermon; and Mrs. Archie (Linda) Whitton, of Hermon, along with two brothers: Mr. Vernon & Nancy Allen of Las Vegas, NV; and James Allen of Webster, NY./ppMabel was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Edwards, and a former Edwards Fire Dept. Auxiliary President. She enjoyed helping in various community events, and was one of the founders of the Harrisville Head Start program. pLt. Colonel (Ret.) Robert Eugene Flora passed away on April 19, 2016. Robert was born on Feb. 5, 1931 in Watertown, New York, the second youngest of 11 children born to Italian immigrants Sebastian Vona (Frank Flora) and Alphonsina Berardinelli. /ppBob’s life was dedicated to his family, country and church. He met his one and only love in life, Wanda Ashcroft, on the tennis courts of Thompson Park. They married in 1952 and together raised 6 children born in 5 different states in 8 years./ppRobert earned a BA in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1959. He was a test pilot, served as a General’s Aide and became a flight instructor. Bob earned his MBA at the University of Southern California in 1965, and began a successful career as a Manager on Air Force Space Programs. He interrupted this work to serve a year in Vietnam during the war. Bob was decorated with the USAF Air Medal for 325 combat missions./ppUpon returning from Vietnam to Torrance, California he continued work on Manned Space Development. While living in Torrance he served on Torrance’s Parks and Recreation Commission and became very involved in community service, including Rotary and politics. He and Wanda developed many wonderful lifelong friendships over the years. /ppBob retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel in 1974 and settled his family in Saratoga, California. There he worked at ESL Inc., retiring in 1993. He served on the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission and ran for City Council. He was the Past President of USC Alumni Assoc. in Santa Clara Valley, Past President of Saratoga Rotary, member of South Bay Civil War Roundtable, Knights of Columbus Council 4981, Senior Knight of Portola Assembly 49 and Past president of the Men’s Club of Church of the Ascension Catholic Church. /ppRobert is survived by daughters Roberta Poulin, Therese Webb, Marci Miller and sons Mark, Mike and Pat and their families. He also leaves behind his sister Gloria Carrubba, her family and many other nieces and nephews./ppBob’s family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all his caregivers including Maribeth and also the caring staff at Our Lady of Fatima Villa in Saratoga./ppIn lieu of flowers a donation made to any of the above mentioned organizations is appreciated./ppServices will be on April 30th at 10:30 AM at the Church of Ascension, Saratoga, CA. pMerle C Eddy, of Centerville, MA died on April 1st, 2016. He was born in Watertown, NY in 1927 and lived there with his parents, Garrett and Myrtle Eddy, brother Fred and sisters, Katherine, Alberta and Marjorie. Merle attended Watertown High School and then joined the US Navy where he served in both WW II and the Korean conflict. After leaving the Navy he received a BA in Education from Oswego College then taught 6th grade in Dexter, NY. He continued his post graduate education in Guidance from St Lawrence University and worked at Sackets Harbor Central High School / Lyme Central High School as a Guidance Counselor. Merle with his wife Barbara, raised their family in Adams Center, NY. After retiring they relocated to Centerville, MA. Merle was active in the church where he served as treasurer and participated in the chimes choir. He also loved traveling around the country with his wife and visiting their children and other relatives. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara and daughter Christine. He is survived by his six children, Dorothy Rumrill (Mike), Beth-Anne Allen, Rick Allen (Sandie), Linda Dowe (Peter), George Allen and William Eddy (Sandra), nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held late Spring in Carthage, NY./p

pRev. John (Jack) Hunt (age 72) unexpectedly passed away at his apartment in Pompano Beach, Florida on April 16, 2016. Rev. Hunt had recently been dealing with a host of health issues, including a lung emboli and heart disease. /pp He was born on June 5, 1943 in Watertown New York, the son of John E. and Margaret Bennett Hunt. /ppHe attended St. Patrick’s Elementary and Immaculate Heart Academy. He finished High School and Pre-Theology at Wadhams Hall Seminary in Ogdensburg, and then attended St. Bernards Seminary in Rochester. /ppHe was ordained to the priesthood by Most Rev. Stanislaus J. Brzana, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, on May 24, 1969. /ppFather’s first assignment was assistant pastor at St. Mary’s, Champlain and St. Alexander’s in Morrisonville. In 1974 he was appointed to the faculty at Wadhams Hall. In 1980, in a cooperative ministry venture, Father Hunt was pastor of St. John’s, Keeseville and associate pastor at Immaculate Conception, Keeseville. In 1986, he was pastor of St. Francis of Assisi, Potsdam, pastor at St Patrick’s in Watertown in 91 and pastor at Notre Dame Ogdensburg in 1995. In 1999, he was administrator of both campus parishes of St. Francis of Assisi in Potsdam and St. Mary’s, Canton. In 2001 Father was pastor of St. Henry’s, DeKalb and Sacred Heart, Edwards. In 2004 he was pastor at St. Bartholomew, Old Forge, and St. Anthony of Padua, Inlet. Father retired from ministry in May, 2006./ppRev. Hunt was proceded in death by his Father & Mother of Watertown, NY and his Older Sister Jean Hunt Miller of Pittsford, NY./ppHe is survived by his brother Bill Hunt and his wife Ellen, of Johnstown, NY and Patricia Anderson of Watertown, who was raised in the Hunt family after the death of her Mother./ppHe is also survived by several cousins and three generations of nephews and nieces. /ppThere will be a Memorial Mass, for family and his fellow priests, in the Chapel of the Presentation at Wadams Hall. Interment of the ashes will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown next to his parents./p
