Emerson J. Camidge

Emerson J. Camidge, 83, of the Boyd Road, Carthage, died Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2019 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

Emerson was born November 9, 1935 in Carthage, the son of the late Nelson J. and Eloise H. (Christman) Camidge. He attended Carthage High School. He married the former Marion E. Chisamore on July 13, 1957 in Carthage. Marion died on November 4, 2002. For many years he was employed as a millwright at Climax MFG in West Carthage, retiring several years ago.

He loved woodworking, camping, hunting and fishing, yard sales and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Kimily and Robert Cummings and Sharon and Glenn Delles Jr. all of Carthage, David and Michel Camidge of Baldwinsville and Larry Camidge of Watertown, 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren with one expecting in October, two brothers: Gene Camidge of Carthage and Nelson Camidge of Virginia, his special niece and caregiver, Rachel Gorumba of Carthage and many other nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by 4 brothers, Donald, William, Quentin and Cleon (Charlie) Camidge and 5 sisters, Alice Hunkins, Rachael Gayne, Helen Chisamore, Vivian Zeller and Eva Brezzie.

Calling hours will be on Monday, June 3 from 12-2pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jack Bushey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage with a Celebration of Life immediately following the burial at the Carthage American Legion.

Shirley Anne Seifert

Shirley Anne Seifert, 83, passed away due to an extended illness on May 6, 2019 at Sayre Health Care Center in Sayre, PA. Shirley was born on March 17, 1936 in Potter Brook, PA , the oldest daughter of Hugh and Arlene Houghtaling. She graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 1954 and attended Mansfield State Teachers College in 1955. She married Thomas Robert Seifert on September 1, 1956 and, together, they raised three daughters. Shirley and Tom settled in Sandy Creek, NY in 1976 and owned and operated Burky’s grocery store until 1988. At that point, they retired in Henderson Harbor, where Shirley found happiness in the beautiful views and colorful sunsets of Lake Ontario. Shirley was an avid reader and was likely the best customer of the Henderson Free Library for many years. She was predeceased by: her husband, Tom, on July 15, 2014, who served proudly in the Korean War U.S. Army; her parents; and her brother-in-law, Rev. M. Duane Burdick. She is survived by three daughters, Beth (Francis) Miller of Horseheads, NY, Nancy (Ronald) Shirley of Lacona, NY, and Amy (Charles) Greenberg of Meadowbrook, PA; her sisters, Fern Burdick of Harrison Valley, PA and Gwen (Duane) Cizek of Galeton, PA; four grandchildren; her uncle, Glenn “Skip” (Lynne) Skinner; and a niece and three nephews. Private graveside services will be held by the family at the Boylston-Sandy Creek Wesleyan Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Henderson Free Library, 8939 NYS Rt. 178, P.O. Mr. Anthony J. Corrice

Mr. Anthony J. Corrice, age 78, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. During the last four years of Anthony’s life, he was a full-time caregiver for his wife, Margaret throughout her illness. Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Corrice on November 27, 2018. Anthony is survived by four children, Colleen Corrice, of Mooers Forks, NY, Anthony C. Corrice, of Oviedo, FL, Sean Corrice, of Middletown, NY, and Lance Corrice and his wife Susan, of Oakdale, CT; four grandchildren, Lily and Amanda Corrice, and Meagan and Laura Morelock; five sibilings, Mary Louise McDonald of Ogdensburg, NY, Ronald A. “Joe” Corrice of Indianapolis, IN, Frederick R. Corrice of Ogdensburg, NY, Loretta Ann Cooke of Ogdensburg, NY, and Betty Jean Chambers of Ogdensburg, NY; an aunt, Dorothy Ritchie of Heuvelton, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anthony is predeceased by four siblings, Arthur Corrice, George J. Corrice, Margie Ann Corrice and Jeanette Daily. Anthony was born on November 11, 1940, in Ogdensburg, NY, the fourth oldest child of George Alfred and Elva Julia (McNally) Corrice. He was a hard worker, working a paper route and his father’s gas station at a young age. Anthony played football and basketball as a young man. Anthony attended St. Mary’s Academy. Anthony enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960. He served as a tank and Amtrac driver, allowing him to travel the world with the 2nd Marine Division. Anthony was stationed in Guam, Okinawa, Guantanamo, and was on a landing craft during Bay of Pigs Invasion. He also served on the Inspection Team for Soviet freight ships during the Cuban Embargo. He became involved in boxing in the military, where he was a middle-weight champion and was also a Judo practitioner. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal E4 in 1964.

In 1964, Sister Grace Menton, a St. Mary’s Academy Nun, introduced Anthony to the love of his life, Margaret Raymon. Two years later, the couple wed on September 3, 1966, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg with Msgr. Arthur M. Leary officiating. Upon his discharge from the military, Anthony joined his brother George in the moving business under Bekin Van Lines, travelling all over the United States. He returned to Ogdensburg and worked a series of jobs, starting with Wood’s Market. Anthony went on to spend a year and half with the Ogdensburg Fire Department as a firefighter. He was recruited by Chief LeBeau to join the Ogdensburg City Police Department as a patrolman then took a job at Oswego State University as a campus safety officer. Anthony returned to the Ogdensburg Police Department as a patrolman in 1970 and retired there after 20 years in 1990. Over his years of service, he received many letters of commendation and appreciation from citizens of the community that he had helped. In 1969, Anthony started constructing his home on the Moreland Road, on land that he purchased from his father, with the help of his father-in-law, Fred Raymon. It was there that Anthony and Margaret raised their four children. Anthony was a devoted family man, often taking trips in the summertime with his family and spending time at their camp on the St. Lawrence River.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00PM to 6:00PM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 10:00AM at St. Raphael’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors. Donald E. Keruskie, member of the communities of Watertown and Dexter, has passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019, while in the

care of Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

A calling hour is planned for six o’clock, with a memorial service to follow at seven o’clock, on the evening of Friday, June 7, 2019 at Hart & Bruce

Born in Watertown, to Vivian L. (Derouin) Mucklow and Frank G. Keruskie, both predeceased, his cherished memory will remain in the hearts of his surviving brother, Frank G. Keruskie, Black River, and sister, Judy B. (Keruskie) LaBianco, Watertown. A sister Faye R. (Keruskie) Marshall,

formerly of Vancouver, WA is predeceased.

His generous spirit, strength and will to overcome adversity will survive in the families of his sons, Donald K. Keruskie, Albany, Daniel E. Keruskie,

Carthage, and daughter, Aimee L. (Keruskie) Boyce, Glen Park.

His endearing nature will be remembered fondly by many grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, close friends and acquaintances, whose lives have been enriched by his own.

After graduating from Watertown High School, he married Ilene J. Boyden, purchased a home and moved to Dexter, where, together, they raised three children, until divorce. His commitment to being a dedicated father and providing for his family never wavered. He worked tirelessly as a life-long employee of the New York Air Brake Corporation and proud member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, until retirement.

He derived joy from giving and sharing that which he earned to his family, friends and those in need. He enjoyed laughing with anyone and everyone, sharing stories with new and old acquaintances and appreciating the simplicity of a life lived with peace and the well-being of others as reward for his sacrifices.

His mark on this world will live forever in the marks of the many lives he touched with his love for others

Robert J. “Bud Cashion, 80 of Lacona passed away Sunday May 26, 2019 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY

Bud was born August 23, 1938 in Bennington, NH to Patrick and Evelyn Cashion. He spent most of his life in Bennignton. He retired from General Motors, Overseas Operations, NY/ Detroit and also from Tacom Tank/ Automotive Command, Warren Mich.

A Calling Hour will be held Monday June 3, 2019 at Unity Acres Chapel from 6pm -7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Chapel Tuesday June 4th at 11:30 am Burial will follow at the Cemetery.

Donation may be made in his honor to VFW Post 8534, Lacona, NY.

Joyce E. Sheldon, 91, passed away on May 21, 2019 at Cheshire County Maplewood Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Joyce was born on April 1, 1928 in Buckton, NY to the late Ralph Riggs and Gladys (Pike) Riggs. She graduated from Brasher High School in Stockholm, NY before working in the food service department at Potsdam College for 25 years. In August of 2000, Joyce moved to Newport, NH to be closer to her family. Flower gardening was her passion.

Her contagious smile and loving heart will always fill the hearts of those that loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Sheldon in 1984, and her sons, George Sheldon, Jr. in 1980 and Robert Sheldon in 2017. She was also predeceased by her brother, Dykes Riggs.

Surviving family includes Bonnie and Michael Lozipone of Norfolk, NY, Kathy and Rodney Hazelton of Hinsdale, NH, Mary and Craig Tenney of Scarborough, ME, Dolly and Dan Mannette of Windham, ME, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

A family memorial was held Memorial Day weekend.

Donald L. Roach

Winthrop- Mr. Donald L. Roach, 64, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday May 31, 2019.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where calling hours will be held Monday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. Donald’s burial and graveside service will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at Winthrop Cemetery.

Donny was born in Potsdam on March 2, 1955 to the late Donald and Eunice (Goodnow) Roach and attended St. Lawrence Central High School.

He is survived by 3 brothers: Rodney, David, and Steven Roach, and his dogs who he affectionally called “his girls”, Molly and Dolly. He was predeceased by his sister Eunice Roach who passed on July 10, 2016.

Donny was very fond of his trucking business, enjoyed chopping and cutting firewood, but was most known for driving around town in his truck making several stops along his way to share in conversation or lend a hand.

Stewart B. Hooley

LOWVILLE, NY ~ Stewart B. Hooley, 61, of State Rt. 26, Lowville, formerly of Harrisville, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY, where he had been admitted after being stricken at home.

Born May 8, 1958 in Gouverneur, NY, a son of Robert and Thelma (DeLawyer) Hooley, he was a 1976 graduate of Harrisville Central School.

He married Carolyn J. Cole on March 17, 1984 in St. Francis Solanus Church, Harrisville.

Stewart became a motor vehicle Master Mechanic and was employed at Dodds Motors in Gouverneur and later for Lofink Ford in Carthage for a number of years. He eventually moved out West where he worked at a large Ford dealership in LasVegas, NV, before retiring in 1996 due to health problems.

Prior to moving to Lowville, Stewart had been a parishioner at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed tinkering with, and repairing anything that had a motor. He also liked to do home remodeling, raising chickens, cooking, and riding motorcycles, especially his Harley. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and their three dogs, Pablo, Jessie and Sweet Pea.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn, of 35 years; his children, Brandy J. and her husband, Adam McCroy, of Olympia, WA, Casey M. Hooley and her companion, James Blackmer, of Carthage, and Mac R. Hooley, of Lowville; two (soon to be three) grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Wesley Parow, of Harrisville, and Allen Bango, of Carthage, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Hooley, and his two sisters, Kay Parow and Marlene Bango.

Stewart’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Family Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Harrisville, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A funeral luncheon will follow in the social hall of St. Francis Solanus.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 3rd, from 2–4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tina Rose Hosmer

CARTHAGE – Tina Rose Hosmer, 58, of 222 State St., passed away in the early hours of Friday, May 31, 2019 at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital.

Tina was born on October 19, 1960 in Carthage, New York, daughter of the late Wheeler N. and Minnie (Donoghue) Hosmer. She graduated from Carthage Central School and moved to North Carolina soon after. She stayed there for about 20 years, before moving back home to New York. She was primarily a homemaker due to her long-lasting illness.

She enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steel books, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Danielle (Shawn) Susice of Canton and Jessica Lady of Greensboro, NC; five sisters, Peggy Hosmer of New Bremen; Clara Hosmer of Carthage; Patricia (Valence) Peets of Carthage; Susan VanAernam of Philadelphia, NY; and Caroline Johnson of West Carthage; seven brothers, Marshall (Linda) Hosmer of Baldwinsville; Lloyd Hosmer of Witchita Falls, TX; Terry Hosmer of Witchita Falls, TX; Jerry Hosmer of Witlherbee, NY; Keith Hosmer of Plant City, FL; Allen Hosmer of Carthage; and Leo Hosmer of Carthage; as well as three grandchildren.

Tina is predeceased by a sister, Nancy Hosmer and two brothers, Bruce and Norman Hosmer.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on June 8, 2019 at the Highrise in Carthage at a time to be announced. Burial will be held later in Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg.

Albert Don Mudge

Albert Don Mudge was born in Prattsville, New York October 16, 1940, passed in Oro Valley Arizona at the age of 78. Albert grew up in the Catskill mountains, he entered the US Army in 1958 at the age of 18. He met and married his beloved wife of 58 years at the age of 20 years. He served in the Vietnam war 1969-1970, in Cam Rahn Bay as an ammunitions Officer. He ended his 28 year career as a CW4 chief warrant officer, retiring in Black River NY. He moved to Oro Valley in 2006.

Albert was born to Alice Yager Mudge and Donald Elbridge Mudge. He is survived by his wife Hope Faith Mudge, daughter Dr Kimberly Yu Schumacher, his son-in-law Robb Donald Schumacher and his only grandson Tighe Albert Schumacher. His family includes his brother Daniel Mudge, nephews Jason and Robert and nieces Jessie, Rebecca and Patty.

His memorial service was held at his place of worship on May 18th 2019 at the First Baptist church in Catalina Arizona. Alberts remains will be buried in Prattsville, NY in a family plot with military honors in the forthcoming year.

Richard Bauter

Richard Bauter, 93, formerly of Dexter died Thursday afternoon, May 30, 2019 at Samaritan Summit Village where he had resided for nine years.

He was born on November 21, 1925 in Watertown, son of Ernest and Sarah Reeves Bauter and graduated from Watertown High School January 1944.

Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Clyte. He then graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1950. After graduation he was recalled to active duty, serving for two years aboard the USS Henley, a destroyer in the Korean War.

He took a position in pharmaceutical sales with the Dow Chemical company. He retired in 1983 as a Senior Sales Account Specialist. Later he became a Sales Consultant for Boots Pharmaceuticals and retired in 1990. Upon retiring he started carving duck decoys and songbirds using his cellar for a shop.

Over the years he was very active in the Boy Scouts, serving as a leader in troop and council activities. He liked both fly and ice fishing. Many will remember him as an avid Notre Dame football enthusiast. Richard was a life member of the Northside Improvement League and a past member of the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Elks Lodge in Watertown and a former member of the Lions club and the Rustic Golf Club in Dexter.

He married Catherine E. Wiley on August 14, 1948 in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Francoeur officiating. Catherine died on January 28, 2010 at her home in Dexter,

Richard is survived by three sons, Richard D., Warrensburg, MO, Michael and his companion, Miriam Chaisson, Greene, ME, and Kevin and his wife Mary, Keeseville; four daughters, Patricia Ferguson and husband Clayton, Clayton, Mary Anne Mallette and husband Tom, Natural Bridge, Dianne Pockett and companion Brett McCall, Rochester, and Virginia Woolf and husband Michael, Watertown; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gerald Wiley and wife Elaine, Watertown; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, David, died October 9, 1980, grandson, Kyle Young, two brothers, Lynn and Kenneth Bauter, and two sisters, Terri Bauter and Beverly Dyer.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6, at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville with Fr. H. Michael Gaffney, pastor, presiding followed by burial in Dexter Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Duane V. Burcume

A Funeral Mass for Duane V. Burcume, age 78 of Canton and formerly of Rensselaer Falls will be held on Tuesday (June 4, 2019) at 1:00pm at the St. Joseph’s Home Chapel with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton.

Mr. Burcume passed away at the St. Joseph’s Home on Thursday (May 30, 2019) surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Paulette of Canton; a son Daryl Burcume of Massena and daughter Denise Burcume & her wife Nicole of Peru, NY; two sisters Brenda Bonnell & her husband Richard of Loveland, CO and Gail Donaldson of Massena.

Duane was born on July 3, 1940 in Ogdensburg NY, a son of the late Vernon & Eva May (Denesha) Burcume. He graduated from Heuvelton School and continued his education at Canton ATI majoring in Dairy Agriculture. He later married Paulette Cunningham on July 27, 1963 at St. Henry’s Church in Dekalb Jct.

During his career he was employed as a field technician with New York State Quality Milk Promotion Services through Cornell University for 34 ½ years. He then began a part-time courier position with Community Bank in Canton until his retirement.

Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, caning chairs, traveling, camping, gardening, playing cards, horseshoes and board games, spending time with his friends and family and being outdoors. William ‘Bill’ T. Ballard, 77, formerly of Williamstown, NY and Pulaski, NY passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Van Duyn Nursing Home, Syracuse, NY where he had been a resident for four years. He was born on June 23, 1941 in Altmar, NY a son of William & Gladys Evans Ballard and was a 1959 graduate of Altmar-Parish High School. William proudly served with the United States Navy from February 9, 1961 to February 6, 1963. On September 4, 1964 he married the former Joyce C. Sweatland in Williamstown, NY, she passed away October 9, 2016. Bill worked as a boilermaker for Local Lodge 175, Oswego, NY. He attended the former United Presbyterian Church in Williamstown and later was an active member of Pulaski Wesleyan Church. Bill was a longtime fan, follower and booster of APW sports and marching band events.

William is survived by a daughter, Michelle & Ron Kowanes, Lowville, NY a son, William & Eileen Ballard, Syracuse, NY, four grandchildren; Caroline & Dan Grabowski, Kelly Kowanes, Cain and Evan Ballard, five great grandchildren, one brother, Marlin & Dr. Velma Ballard, Chesapeake, VA, two sisters, M. Dawn Strickland, Oxford, AR and Mary Ballard, Fellsmere, FL and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Pyke and B. Joan Bush.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown, NY. Surviving is his wife Sheila of Ogdensburg; a daughter Minka Thibert & her husband Dan of Ogdensburg; a brother Donald Munro & his wife Marilyn “Siss” of Virginia; grandchildren Matthew & Brianne Thibert of Ogdensburg; along with nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was predeceased by two sons Stephen & Mark Munro; a sister Joan Munro Ortelle and his first wife Ann.

Bob was born on July 29, 1933 in Poughkeepsie NY, a son of Leonard & Mildred Munro. He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and enter the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. He later married Ann Breen who predeceased him, and he again found love and was remarried to Sheila Montpetit on December 4, 2015.

He was employed by New York State as a correctional officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville, NY for 33 years. He retired in 1990. Bob was a former member of the American Legion, VFW and volunteer fireman in Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

Patrick M. McDermott, 70, of Charles Street, passed away at his home on June 1, 2019.

Pat was born October 24, 1948 in Watertown, son of Charles E. and Doris E. “Betty” Anderson. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1966, attended Jefferson Community College and graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Education.

On August 14, 1971, he married Christine A. Staie, the love of his life, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Benoit Dostie officiating. Christine died July 21, 1988.

Pat was employed in the hardware department of Home Depot until his retirement in 2016. Previously he was a quality control officer for Fisher Cast Corp. and New York Air Brake Co. for forty years. He was a former member of Holy Family Church and served in the United States Reserves.

Pat was proud to be a founding member, along with Pete Gaskin, of the Jefferson Community College Lacrosse Club. Pat enjoyed collecting coins and sports collectables, attending concerts, games: especially Trivial Pursuit, was a Boston Red Sox fan, a Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed spending time with his grand- kids and grand puppies.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Gregory J. and Amanda, Watertown, three grandchildren, Kaylynn, Kallie and Kenzie, siblings, Robert E. McDermott, Watertown, Bruce A. McDermott, LaFargeville, Nancy (Gary) Davis, LaFargeville, Mollie (Floyd) Field, Canton. Margaret McDermott, Watertown. His parents and siblings Frederick P. in 1999, Charles N. in 2015, Kathleen Brown in 2007 and Mary McDermott as an infant, all died before him.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. a prayer service will be Friday at 10 am at the funeral home with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. HARTLE, GERVISE - A mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gervise L. Hartle, age 96, of Manchester, CT and formerly of Potsdam, NY will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 11am at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Hartle passed away on November 26, 2018. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service.

James H. Charles (June 6,1933-June 1, 2019, age 85), known as “Jim” and later as “J.C.,” formerly of Clayton, Phoenix, Cazenovia, Waterloo, Wolcott, and Newark NY, and Myrtle Beach SC, passed away on Saturday June 1, 2019. A man with boundless energy, he approached the end of life with bravery and humor, in the same way he lived for almost 86 years.

Born in Syracuse, after graduating from high school in Clayton NY (class of 1950), Jim entered the US Air Force and served proudly during the Korean War era, stationed overseas in England and honorably discharged in 1955. Following graduation from St. Lawrence University, he worked for Firestone Tires as a sales manager and attended Syracuse University for graduate school before becoming a career high school math teacher in Phoenix, NY and then Cazenovia, NY. His encore career included a return to retail management for Fays Drugs and teaching mathematics at Butler Correctional Facility. He loved sailing and boating. His lifelong passion for being on the water began while growing up on the St. Lawrence Seaway. He loved working in his wood shop, reading, writing, and watching football on TV.

He especially loved following SU football and basketball teams. He dearly loved and cherished his family and many wonderful friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ruth (nee Fowler) Charles and his brother Richard (“Dick”) Charles, he is survived by daughters Stephanie (Steven) Cushman, Mary Helander, Jennifer (Vincenzo) Fuschino, and Elizabeth Morgan; brothers Jack (Mary Lou) Charles and Joel (Carol) Charles; grandchildren Cassidy, Jacob, Maria, and Jessica; and former wives and mothers of his girls, Peg (Dick) Scheffler and Sue Charles.

Calling hours will be Monday, June 10, from 10-11 AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 43 Bridge Street, Phoenix NY 13135, followed immediately by an 11 AM memorial service and -celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 43 Bridge Street, Phoenix NY 13135.
