Sr. and Leta Roberts Esford. Raised in Dexter she attended Dexter High School./ppAudrey was married to Richard L. Spencer on April 21, 1947 at Dexter Methodist Church . The couple lived all their married life in Dexter until moving to Brownville in 2009. /ppShe was a reading aide to children at Dexter Elementary School until her retirement in 1984./ppAudrey’s first loves were her husband, daughters and their families . No matter what the day brought her way, “Grammie” always had a smile and kisses for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a friend to all. Who else would receive 72 cards for her birthday? She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crafts and was the “Queen” of the card game Frustration. /pp She was a member of Dexter United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She became a homemaker after the birth of her first son, still working part-time during the summers as a telephone operator at Fort Drum for a number of years./ppMr. Carson worked at the New York Telephone Co. from 1948 until he retired in 1985 as a supervisor. He passed away February 23, 2000./ppShe enjoyed refinishing old furniture; she loved colonial-style architecture and furniture, the Bible, birds, reading, and sewing. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Black River./ppAmong her survivors are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark R. Carson, New Bremen, NY, and Brian T. pMonroe, NC- Sondra Sue “Sonnie” Scott, 78, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was born November 8, 1937, in Lawrence, Kansas, to the late Max Edward and Mary Virginia Reeves. Sonnie was a 1955 graduate of Hoover High School in San Diego, CA and attended San Diego State University, where she met her future husband, Charlie Scott./ppThroughout their marriage, they lived in several cities around the country where Mrs. Scott was active vocationally and voluntarily; she was a Case Worker for the county of San Diego while living in California, Executive Secretary to the Worldwide Marketing Director for Norgren in Denver, Colorado, Receptionist for a dental practice in Phoenix, Arizona, and retired as an Executive Secretary with INTEL Corporation. Sonnie was an avid traveler, traveling the world with her husband and their travel groups; such as the “Friends Against Rough Times”, in San Diego and Phoenix. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC, where she was active with the Presbyterian Women and Koinoia; and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Watertown, NY. She was also a member of P.E.O-Chapter AF/NC and P.E.O. Chapter AI/NY. Mrs. Scott was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta-Chi Theta Chapter and was active with Rainbow Girls while in San Diego./ppShe and her husband, Charlie, who survives, were married August 3, 1957. They have three children Shari Scott, Rob Scott (deceased) and Steve Scott; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Tony J. Palladino
pCARTHAGE – Tony J. Palladino, 89, 716 Alexandria St., passed away at the Carthage Area Hospital on Sunday, May 22, 2016, surrounded by his family./ppTony was born on June 13, 1926 in Watertown, a son of Frank & Mary Palladino. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1944. On November 27, 1948 Tony married the love of his life, Kathryn Gerace. /ppTony was a “Greatest Generation” man; he grew up in Deferiet, worked at the St. Regis Paper mill while still in high school and immediately joined the United States Army and served in World War II, from 1944 1946. Following his basic training in Georgia, he was assigned to the 410th Infantry Regiment. He served in the 103rd Infantry Division, known as the “Cactus Division”. The Division arrived in France on Armistice Day and the long days of fighting began. T-Sgt. Palladino saw combat in France, Germany and Austria. He received several medals, including the Combat Infantry Badge, the European Theatre with three campaign stars, the Victory Medal, German Occupation, American Defense, Good Conduct and the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross. He was most proud of his Bronze Star medal, which he was awarded for exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy. When asked about the war, Tony always responded that he remembered being scared, hungry and cold./ppFollowing the War, he returned to his hometown of Deferiet and went back to work at the St. Regis Paper Co. as a machinist. He retired in 1988 after 45 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was everyone’s “Go – To” person and could fix anything. He was loved by all and will be missed./ppBesides his wife, Kathryn, Tony is survived and was dearly loved by several nieces and nephews. pHermon - Lisa Jean Doiron, 54, of Ludlow, MA and a native of Hermon, passed away May 14, 2016 at her home, surrounded by family, after a courageous 9 year battle with breast cancer./ppLisa was born December 22, 1961 in the city of Ogdensburg, NY to David and Jane (Baker) Doiron./ppShe was raised in the village of Hermon and after graduating from Hermon-DeKalb CS, she chose a path in nursing, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1986 from SUNY Brockport./ppOver her 30 years as a nurse, she worked at institutions from New York to California and her last job was at Heritage Hall West in Agawam, MA. From an early age, she showed deep compassion for the elderly, spending her last few years volunteering at the Ludlow Senior Center. She learned to knit, do Tai Chi, and ran a heck of a bake sale. She was a devoted Red Sox fan, an amateur radio operator, and a collector of ‘First Day of Issue” envelopes. This, her favorite hobby, took her around the country, usually with stamp buddies in tow, to personally attend first day events./ppBesides her parents, Lisa is survived by her wife of 9 years, Lynda Wyatt-Doiron, her step children, Stephen (Catherine) Burns, Samantha Burns and Anthony Burns, a step granddaughter Ellie Anna Burns, her three brothers, Scott Doiron of Brooklyn, NY, Tim (Sandra) Doiron, of Raynham, MA and Tom Doiron Walworth, NY, her nephews Christopher Doiron and Cory (Autumn) Doiron and great nieces and nephews. Dibble, 65, died on Sunday May 22, 2016, at her home on the Pine Grove Road while under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice./ppKathleen was born in Malone on March 3, 1951, where she was raised and adopted by her grandparents, Thomas “Pap” and Rachel “Ma” Mulverhill. She attended school in Malone. /ppOn November 30, 1969, Kathleen was married to William J. “Bill” Dibble at St. John’s Bosco in Malone. Kathleen was a very caring Home Health Aide at the Lewis Co. Residential Health Care Facility for many years. For many years she helped with his Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops. pCROGHAN - Mary Ann Ritz, 87, died late Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2016 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare in New Hartford./ppMary Ann was born on September 11, 1928, in the town of New Bremen, the daughter of the late Chester C. and Pearl L. (Lomber) Turck. She attended Fr. Leo Memorial School. On September 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gerald M. Ritz at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Rev. Hugh King OFM, officiating. The couple made their home in Croghan and Mary Ann worked in the cafeteria at Beaver River Central School. /ppShe was an auxiliary member of Beaver River Memorial Post # 1663, American Legion, and Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912, V.F.W. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a great homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going to the Turning Stone Casino./ppShe is survived by her husband, Jerry, her daughter, Bonnie S. Ritz; two sons, Daniel G. Ritz; and Larry J. and Kim Ritz all of Croghan; her grandson, David W. Ritz; her sister, Rose Marie Bruce of Croghan; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Evelyn and Elaine Turck; Edna and Jo Ritz; several nieces and nephews. /ppShe is predeceased by her son David G. who died serving in Vietnam; her sister Theresa who died in infancy, eight brothers, Bernard (Nellie), Edward, Richard (Emma), Donald, Arthur, Robert (Joyce), Ralph, and James (Tammy) Turck; brother-in-law, Earl Robert Bruce; brothers-in-law, Carl and Robert Ritz and sister-in-law, Lucille (Clifford) Chartrand./ppMary Ann was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church where a mass will be said on Thursday, May 26th at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor officiating.
