pNaples, FL: Lucile Marie Foisy, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children on September 26, 2016 at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Joseph Raymond, her father Albert Dupuis, mother Almeria Dupuis, sister Gertrude Latulipe and brother Donald Dupuis. She is survived by her daughters Wanda (Michael) Gacioch of Moline, IL, Lynn Foisy (Bernie Canning) of Champlain, NY, Shelly Foisy of Ontario, NY and her son Steven (Ivone) Foisy of Fairport, NY, as well as seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews./ppLucile graduated from The Boarding School of Valleyfield, Quebec in 1947 and attended Sir George Williams College (Concordia University) in Montreal. Lucile had a fulfilling wok career at Alice Hyde Hospital and then as an Insurance Agent at Bruce Anderson Insurance in Fort Covington, NY. In 1990, she and Joseph Raymond retired in Naples, Florida where they wintered while maintaining their summer residence on the St Lawrence River in St. Anicet, Quebec. She was an active parishioner at St Peter the Apostle Church in Naples, FL. /ppA funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption in Fairport, NY Saturday, October 1 @ 9:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Lucile to the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY. Barstow, 93, formally of Potsdam, passed away Wednesday evening, September 28, 2016 at United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton./ppHelen was born January 10, 1923 in Pierrpont, NY the daughter of the late Bower and Anna Forward Powers. She graduated from Knox Memorial. She then went to work as a secretary at Alcoa in Massena until she became the devoted wife of Robert H Barstow Sr. They married on September 20, 1942 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena. Robert passed away on February 17, 2013. She was a past member of Potsdam Order of Eastern Stars, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam. /ppMrs. Barstow is survived by her son Robert H and Denise Barstow Jr. of Cranberry Lake, grandchildren; Rechell Barstow of New Jersey, Amanda and Brad Reif of Canton, William and Christine Barstow of Rowlett Texas, and Rebecca and Tom Barnes of Plattsburg; along with her great grandchildren; Kyle, Alex, Chase, Adrianna, Zoey and Mia, a brother Bower and Jane Powers of Canton along with several nieces and nephews. /ppIn addition to her parents and husband, Helen is predeceased by brothers; John, Robert and Gale Powers and sisters; Ruth Anderson and Betty Jean LaPoint./ppPer Helens request there will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the family. pCarol Ann Elliott, 60, of Mechanicsville, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. /ppShe was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Elliott, her father, Adrian Elliott, and nephew Tommy Elliott and is survived by her mother, Edna Elliott; sister, Gail Elliott; her brothers, Bill and his wife Marla, David and his wife Debbie, Roger, Ted and Gary and his wife Eve Lynn; sister-in-law, Nancy Elliott; several well-loved nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. /ppCarol studied education at Virginia Commonwealth University State and SUNY at Oswego; A.A.S Education Pre K-3 grade at University of New York at Cobleskill, and General Education Columbia-Greene Community College. Carol attended secondary education at Greenville Junior – Senior High School. She worked as a preschool teacher, VCU Health System in Richmond, Virginia. /ppCarol enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering at VCU, and communicating with family and friends via Facebook and email. p Brother Pierre T. “Peter” Marceau, MSC, 94, a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, passed away Friday morning, September 30, 2016 at Samaritan Medical Center./pp Brother Peter will lie in state at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, October 4, from 3 - 6PM, with a Vigil Service at 5:30PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, at 11AM with Very Rev. Raymond Diesbough, MSC, Provincial Superior, presiding and Fr. Vincent T. Freeh, MSC as the homilist. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown./pp Brother Peter was born in East Broughton, Quebec, Canada on January 31, 1922, son of Alfred and Marie (Dion) Marceau. He attended Ecole St. Jean Baptiste (primary grades) in Ste. Henedine, Quebec and Ecole St. Jean Baptiste (high school) in Quebec City, Quebec. In 1940 he entered the novitiate at St. Clothilde, Quebec, making his first profession of vows in 1941. He professed perpetual vows in 1947./pp Brother Peter was assigned to church maintenance at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, Watertown, NY from 1943 - 1961. He was then transferred to house maintenance in the Watertown MSC community. In 1981 he worked as electrician and carpenter during construction in the Columbian mission of the MSC. These were also his maintenance specialties in Watertown. He was an avid hockey player and enjoyed skiing, golf, and fishing./pp He is survived by his sister, Marie Mathe Martineau, Montreal, his nephew, Mario Lacroix, Quebec City, Quebec, and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. pRichmond Brooks Rogers, 91, of Rossie, passed away in Buffalo VA Medical Center on September 17, 2016. He was born February 25, 1925 in Buffalo, only child of John Jay Rogers and Edith Jayne (nee Brooks) Rogers. He attended Lancaster High School and was drafted in his senior year. Service was with 349th Infantry Regiment assigned to 88th Infantry Division and with Army Air Force as a Technician during World War II. He was a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart recipient. His military commitments were honorably completed (1943-45). He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1946. He attended Alfred University. He married Dorothy Mae Becker on June 26, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. He was an outdoorsman, hunter, trapper and fisherman. He enjoyed hockey, snowmobiling, swimming, water-skiing and woodworking. His career included NYS Electric & Gas Co., Westinghouse Electric Corp., American Car & Foundry, Scott Aviation, Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory and Transonic Wind Tunnel, and owning and operating Rogers Village Hardware Store in Lancaster. He and Dorothy were members of Faith United Methodist Church. They retired to their summer home in Rossie in 1983. They became members of Hammond Presbyterian Church. They were Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fans. Dorothy predeceased him on March 31, 2015. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Lynn (David) DeCondo of Rossie, Brenda (James Flanigan) of Holland and Nancy (Patrick) Rinow of Lancaster; granddaughters, Chelsea, Heather and Emily Rinow and Nina DeCondo; step-grandchildren, James, Jill, Kelly, Jamie, Megan and Holly; and a cousin, Keith J. Armstrong, of Morristown. A funeral service with military honors was held on September 20 at Faith United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Rev. James E. Brown officiant. Burial will be in Lancaster Rural Cemetery. /p

Richard D. Fowler

pPort Leyden- Richard D. Fowler, Sr. 66, of State Rt. 12, affectionately known as Dick, husband of Annette, passed away at his residence, on Thursday, September 29, 2016, after a long illness, while surrounded by his loving family and hospice./ppHe was born in Boonville, on March 5, 1950, a son of Daniel and Margaret Dolan Fowler and grew up on Pearl St. Port Leyden. Dick attended Port Leyden Central School, before completing his education at South Lewis Senior High School, Turin. Thereafter he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country in the Viet Nam War. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1970, with rank of Private, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fowler served in the US Marine Corps Reserves until July, 1973. /ppAfter serving his country, Dick returned to the Port Leyden area and beginning in 1976, was employed in the steam plant at Georgia Pacific Paper Co., retiring in the same capacity from Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co. in 1995. /ppOn August 31, 1974, Richard was united in marriage with Annette M. Gaffney, in Boonville. Later the couple constructed their present home on Rt. 12, where they have since lived. /ppDick was very talented in repairing a wide variety of things, including automobiles and furnaces. He will be fondly remembered as a generous person who was always available and found great joy in repairing cars whether at his residence or roadside and he was always available around the clock in cold winter weather to repair furnaces for friends and relatives. /ppHe was a member of St. Martin’s Church, Port Leyden. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. /ppMr. Fowler was a life member of Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Boonville, where he was the first Viet Nam Veteran to be a Post Commander, serving in that office 1984-85. He greatly enjoyed attending the yearly Viet Nam Veteran’s annual get together which was held for 25 years at the Hennessey V.F.W. Post in Boonville, during a weekend in June. He was also a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion # 406, Boonville. In addition to his wife, Annette, Dick is survived by two daughters, Kimberley Fowler, Florida, and Tracy (Richard) Nellenbach), West Leyden. He was predeceased by his son, Richard, Jr. in 2013, his father, Daniel Fowler, on February 16, 1996, and by a grand son, Kyle Burgy, in 2000. Also surviving are his mother, Margaret Fowler, Port Leyden; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; four brothers, Michael, Port Leyden, Patrick, Sr. Conway, SC, Daniel J. Jr. and Bruce both of Port Leyden; four sisters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Wood, Myrtle Beach, SC, Beverly (James) Cataldo, Martinsburg, Laura (Richard) Bell, Albany, and Lisa Day, Myrtle Beach, SC. He was predeceased by a brother Edwin, June 14, 1979. Additional survivors are nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Bonnie Blair, Ava. /ppDick’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt note of thanks and appreciation to Lewis County Hospice for all of the kind and compassionate care which the extended to Dick and his family. /ppHis Funeral will be Saturday, October 8, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. (Halstead) Watson. She graduated from Evans Mills High School in 1942 and was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp at Plattsburgh State College./ppBarbara married Francis E. Mosher on September 19, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Philadelphia, NY, with Rev. K.J. Dewey, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Evans Mills, NY and Rev. B.A. O’Connell, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, officiating./ppShe was a member of the Philadelphia Community Band, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in which she was the organist and choir director for many years and was active in the North Country Children’s Clinic./ppBarbara loved being with her family, music, painting and reading./ppSurvivors include six children and their spouses, David and Georgia Mosher, Cuttingsville, VT, Eugene and Barbara Mosher, Eugene, OR, Mary and Thomas Dillenback, Fishers Landing, NY, Karen and Glenn Solomon, Marlborough, MA, Kate and Mike Wanerka, Ballston Spa, NY and Paul and Alex Mosher, Herndon, VA; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Marva Watson and a lifelong friend, Lucina M. pTHERESA- Our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and dearest friend, Sara Anne Morrow Needham passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Hospice of Jefferson County at Ellis Farm, Watertown, NY, under the incredible care by the staff and her family./ppSara was born on September 8, 1991 in Suffolk, VA, but grew up in Theresa and Croghan. She attended both Indian River Central School and Beaver River Central School, from which she graduated./ppAs a little girl, she was full of life, always cheerful, very loving and always with a twinkle in her eye. She was an excellent student throughout her school career, straight A’s./ppIn 2006, Sara was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, at the age of 15. Despite that, she continued to love life and appreciated every minute of it. She loved running (10 miles), cooking, spending time with her family and friends, reading, drawing…. so many things./ppAnyone who knew her will attest to her strength and courage as she endured treatment after treatment, battling this ugly, torturous disease. Sara fought this disease with such poise and grace, and all the while concerned about how everyone around her was feeling. She even attended Jefferson Communtiy College for a short time, determined to be a nurse./ppSara is survived by her mother, Tonya Boliver, her father, Wade Morrow and two other father figures, Scott Boliver, in her younger years and David Candelaria, in her later years. Sara has two sisters, Mary Morrow and Jessica Boliver and her brother, Damien Morrow, who she adored. Also included are her aunt and uncle, Greg and Tammy Plantz, her cousin Abby and John Stone, with many more cousins. Sara is also survived by a baby niece or nephew, who has yet to enter the world./ppSara enjoyed life to the fullest and was very kind and caring to everyone who knew her. She fought a long and very difficult battle, and showed all of us what strength and courage really are. She made our world a much better place by being in it and made each of us who knew her better human beings./ppFly high, out sweetest girl. Be at peace. pMassena: Patricia R. Tubbs, 59, residing on Westwood Drive, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 in the presence of her loving family members and in the care of Hospice. /ppPat was born on June 20, 1957 in Parma, Ohio, the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Archimovich) Pohlchuck. After high school, she continued her education at Heidelberg University, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English. Pat married the love of her life, John C. Tubbs on November 18, 1989 at St. Mary’s Church in Columbus Ohio. She moved with her family to Massena, New York in 1999 and continued her profession as a writer, establishing JP Tubbs Company and focusing on grants and fundraising for Not-For-Profits in Northern New York. Through her efforts, organizations succeeded in obtaining grant funding, constructing and expanding facilities, and in running successful fundraising, capital and endowment campaigns. In addition to these campaigns, she obtained grant awards of nearly $50 M working with dozens of organizations, businesses and municipalities./ppA lifelong lover of music, Pat was a strong proponent of the value of music in our schools. She helped found the Massena Music Friends, supporting the purchase of instruments and programs that are beyond the capacity of the school. She excelled at taking an idea and making it a reality, and supported many other groups for the betterment of the community, including Moving Massena Forward, a coalition planning for the future of Massena. /ppPat is survived by her husband, John C. Tubbs, and her three sons – Spencer residing in Providence, Rhode Island; Mitchell residing in Tampa, Florida and Drake of Massena. Pat is also survived by her two sisters, Carol Mason of Seven Hills, Ohio, and Sally Bodziony of Parma, Ohio along with a number of nieces and nephews./ppFriends and family may be received on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. pWatertown, NY (Sulphur Springs) – James L. Lawrence, Sr., of Watertown, NY passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY where he had been a patient since Friday, September 23rd./ppHe was born, December 20, 1931, in Sackets Harbor, NY, son of Gilbert and Julia Bockus Lawrence. He was a 1951 graduate of Hounsfield Central School, now Sackets Harbor Central School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1951, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division, Fayetteville, NC until his discharge in 1954. /ppHe married Norma J. Resseguie on June 8, 1952, in the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wilbur Hull officiating. The couple lived in Norwood before moving to Sulphur Springs in 1957. He was employed by the former NY Telephone Company retiring from its’ successor, NYNEX, in 1988./ppJim was an active member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Sackets Harbor Fire Dept., Station #2, Sulphur Springs. He was a member of Star Grange #9, member of Telephone Pioneers of America, honorary member of the WCTU and a former Justice and Councilman of the Town of Hounsfield. At the time of his death, he was a Trustee of the Sulphur Springs Cemetery Association and the cemetery Superintendent. /ppHe is survived by his wife, Norma, of 64 years; two sons, James L. Jr. and wife Cynthia, Sulphur Springs, Kenneth M. Sr., Adams Center; and daughter, Vonnice L. and husband Stephen Joels, Sulphur Springs; and daughter-in-law Bonnie Lawrence, Sulphur Springs. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Fields, Oakridge, NC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Freeman Shaw, Punta Gorda, FL; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. /ppHe is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Gerald G. Eleanor and her husband, Robert operated a dairy farm for over twenty years./ppShe was a former member of the Philadelphia Young Womans Guild, the Red Hats Society and TOPS for many years./ppEleanor enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping and entertaining family and friends./ppSurvivors include three children; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Alice and Jerry Holman, Sackets Harbor, NY and Ellen and Billy McBride, Gouverneur, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Henderson, TX; six grandchildren, John Coleman, Kevin McBride, Kimberly Flood, Melissa Missey, Sarah Henderson and Emily Henderson; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Whitmore, Summit Village, Watertown, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins./ppHer parent, her husband, Robert in 2008, two sisters, Zelda McKeever and Maxine Hay and two brothers, Donald Putman and Ralph Putman all died before her./ppFuneral Services will be 3 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Frederick Bros. pCarthage, NY- Beatrice M. Myers, 92, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Meadowbrook Terrace of Carthage where she has resided for 3 years. /ppBeatrice was born September 14, 1924 in Belfort, one of nine children of the late John J. and Eva (Sovay) Yousey. She attended schools in Belfort and Beaver Falls. She married Walter Schmidt on November 27, 1943. The couple later divorced. She then married Merle R. Myers on December 29, 1972 in Calcium. Mr. Myers died on June 30, 2008. Beatrice was employed by Acme Markets in West Carthage for over 20 years until the store closed in 1979. She then worked at Mike’s Store in West Carthage. /ppShe is survived by two daughters: Robin Redmond of Carthage and Penny Messerich of Lexington,VA, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son, Carl John Schmidt who died on December 28, 1991./ppPer her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. pPARISHVILLE—Private services for 63 year old Dennis P. Malone, a resident of 28 Catherineville Road, will be held at the convenience of the family. Mr. Malone passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Dennis is survived by his daughter, Carissa and Anthony Barlea, Englewood, CO; one granddaughter, Cataleya Barlea; a brother, Kevin Malone, Brooksville, FL and a sister, Karen and Samuel Evans, Colton. pMassena: Louis M. Baxter, 22, of Massena, was recently identified by the US Army after going MIA during the Korean Conflict over 60 years ago. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at Calvary Cemetery, Massena with full Military Honors. He will be laid to rest next to his mother./ppLouis was born on September 9, 1928 in Massena, the son of the late Michael and Catharine (Zuder) Lesniewski. He attended school in the Massena area and following graduation joined the US Army in 1948. Louis was assigned to the 7th infantry division during the Korean Conflict. While stationed in Korea, his unit formed a defensive position at the Changjin Reservoir trying to repel an attack from the Chinese Peoples Volunteer Force. At the end of the battle the US Army reported Sergeant Baxter missing in action in December of 1950 and later declared his death in December of 1953. At this time Sergeant Baxter was promoted to rank of Private Sergeant First Class. In 2001, during an excavation at the Changjin Reservoir, a burial site was discovered with the remains of seven individuals being recovered. DNA testing later revealed one of the remains to be Private Sergeant First Class Baxter. /ppAt the time of his death, Louis was survived by his mother, Catharine; two brothers, John and Michael Baxter and a sister Marion Santimaw, they have all since passed away./ppHe is most recently survived by his youngest brother, Carlton and wife Kathleen Baxter of Florida and many nieces and nephews./ppArrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena./p
