pAmarillo, TX/Gouverneur, NY - Alice Ann Courts Perry, age 84, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on August 29, 2016 in Amarillo, TX./ppThere will be a funeral mass on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the St. James Catholic Church in Gouverneur at 11:00 a.m. with Father Shane Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in the New St. James Cemetery. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home in Gouverneur./ppAlice was born on October 26, 1931 in Croghan, NY to Elmer and Jessie Campany. She attended business school following high school. She moved to Amarillo in 1997. Alice was a homemaker. She did volunteer work at the Ronald McDonald House. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a member of The Legion of Mary. Alice enjoyed reading, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. pHOPKINTON – Mr. Allen R. “Chicken Man” Curry, 51, 200 Beebe Road, peacefully passed away Friday afternoon, September 30, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side./ppAllen was born September 17, 1965 in Potsdam, the son of the late Carole Myers Curry and Robert A. Curry. He first attended Hannawa Falls Grade School before going to Potsdam Central School. On September 17, 1994, he married Lisa M. Tebo in Hopkinton. /ppAllen was a truck driver, working most recently for J.C. Livestock in Marcy, New York. He loved being outdoors, especially while he was hunting, 4-wheeling, and Jeep mudding. He also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. /ppAllen is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his children, Ryan and Kimi Tebo of West Stockholm; Courtney Curry and John Hubbard of St. Regis Falls; and Sierra Curry and Paul McAloon of Potsdam; his cherished grandchildren, Zachary Tebo, Jaxson Hubbard, Kai and Quinn McAloon; his father and step-mother, Robert and Edith Curry of Colton; his sister, Suzanne and Ken Williams of Winthrop; his step-brother, Terry and Rhonda Robert of Morley; and a step sister-in-law, Jo Robert of Potsdam; and many nieces and nephews./ppAllen was predeceased by his mother and step father, Carole and Berton “Peanut” Robert; a step brother, Thomas Robert; and his grandparents, Marjorie and Eldon Myers and Bernice and Jay Curry./ppFriends may call Sunday 12-3:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where a celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. pCharles Merle Goodnough, 92, life long resident of Theresa died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown where he resided for the past two years. Previous to that he resided in Theresa his entire life./ppMr. Goodnough was the eighth child, fifth son of Charles Asa and Carolyn Paul Goodnough and was born on the English Settlement Road in the town of Theresa August 3, 1924. He was the tenth generation of the Charles Merle Goodnough branch in America. He attended Theresa High School./ppHe moved with his parents to the village of Theresa from the farm of George Casey, about 1933./ppIn January 1943 he became employed with St. Regis Paper Company, Deferiet, later Champion International./ppMr. Goodnough joined the United States Navy in March 1943 and trained at Samson Training Station, NY. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier, “USS Shangri La” (CV38) and was honorably discharged March 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida./ppAfter returning home, he went to work for the Jersey Milk and Cream Company in LaFargeville for about a year and in September 1947 he went back to St. Regis Paper Company, retiring September 1, 1986 as a machinist for thirty nine years./ppHe married Mary Geraldine Warrick, daughter of Frederick and Margaret Maloy Warrick at Francis Xavier Church in Redwood, NY on November 29, 1947 with Rev. Edmund Dumas officiating. Mrs. Goodnough died in 2003./ppMr. Goodnough was a member and past chief of the Theresa Fire Department, Charter member of the Theodore Seymour Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6655 and member of the Philadelphia American Legion Post 798./ppSurvivors include two sons, David, Philadelphia and Charles “Fred”, Theresa; two daughters and a son in law, Kathleen E. and Damien Graham, Watertown and Maureen Satchwell, Corpus Christi, TX; a sister in law, Emma Jean Goodnough, Evans Mills; a grand daughter, Sarah Satchwell; grandson, Shane Satchwell, nieces, nephews and cousins./ppA son, James William died in 1990 and a grandson, Scott Satchwell died in 2009. Also, four brothers, Paul, Burtis, Garnett and Kendrick “Bud” and four sisters, Ione House, Lorraine Tibbles, Therold Goodnough, and Delephine Lear died before him./ppThe funeral will be 12 pm Thursday October 6, 2016 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home with Dave Gerrish, Post Chaplain of Antwerp American Legion Post #916. pFrancis “Frank” Valerio, 98, formerly of Hammond, NY, died Sunday, October 2nd at Samaritan Medical Center./ppFrank was born on October 10th, 1918 in Stamford, CT, the son of Francesco “Frenchey” and Dora Caseria Valerio. He was a graduate of King’s Preparatory School in Stamford, Packard’s Business School in New York City, and Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, New York, with a degree of BCE./ppHe served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 as a First Lieutenant in the Philippine Islands and the Panama Canal Zone./ppMr. Valerio was a licensed professional engineer in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. He worked as a project engineer in heavy construction projects, highways, bridges, and airports and was the project engineer for the construction of Route 12 from Chippewa Bay to Morristown from 1965 to 1967. /ppFrank married Beulah Stevenson Shoulette on April 29th, 1978 by the Reverend Gilbert Menard at St. Peter’s Church in Hammond. They made their home in Hammond after he retired in 1981. Mrs. Valerio passed away on January 8th, 2015. /ppHe was a member of the Honorary Engineering Societies, Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Chi. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #772 in Ogdensburg, a member of the Hammond Planning Board, a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, and a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus in Watertown./ppFrank is survived by his stepson Lee D. Shoulette and his wife, Glenda, of Pawleys Island, SC, along with cousins in CT./ppCalling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 5th from 6-8 pm at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A funeral mass will be Thursday at 10 am at St. Peter’s Church in Hammond with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating. Richard (Dick) Belmont

pFormer Harrisville, NY resident (2002-2012), Richard (Dick) Belmont returned to the arms of Jesus on September 27, 2016. He was at home under the loving care of his family and the angels of Gentiva Hospice Care of Reno, Nevada. Dick was the only child born to Frank and Bessie Belmont on December 19, 1931 in White Plains, New York where he spent his childhood primarily in the extended care of loving aunts and uncles and happy times with his many cousins with whom he remained in contact throughout his long life. /ppAfter serving in the U.S. Air Force, Dick traveled west to Colorado for some years, moved back east for a while and finally settled in Reno, Nevada, where he met and married his wife, Jo, in 1974. He served for many years in the hotel industry as captain of the Bell Staff for several of the major hotels in Reno, later finding the highlight of his career as a school bus driver for Special Education and Special Needs students in New York and Colorado. In retirement he continued his service to elementary school youth at a local Boys & Girls Club teaching chess. Dick was involved with the Reno Neil Road Senior Center as an active Pickle Ball player and square dancer, and regularly participated in the center’s Conversation Café./ppDick is survived by his wife, Jo Belmont of Reno, Nevada, his son Wayne Belmont of Loveland, Colorado, and four beloved step-children who were proud to call him “Dad” ─ a daughter Bernadette (Bernie) Holst and sons Daniel Taylor and Jim Taylor all of Reno, and son Carmen Taylor of Spring Creek, Nevada. Dick also enjoyed a special relationship with his sister/brother-in-law, Denise and Tom Davis of Spanish Springs, Nevada. He was further blessed with a legacy of 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dick leaves as well an aunt and numerous saddened cousins and dear friends throughout the U.S. Also surviving is Dick’s loyal beagle-basset companion, Dreyfus, presently spoiled by Bernie. /ppAlways mischievous, Dick asked in lieu of any gifts or contributions, that your vote in the upcoming presidential election NOT be cast for Hillary Clinton./ppA service will be held at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada, at an October date yet to be determined. Brown Sr. age 79 of NYS Rte 180 Watertown passed away Monday evening at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown./ppRichard was born June 8, 1937 in Watertown, the son of Arthur and Lola Ruttan Brown. He graduated from General Brown High School. He married Patricia A. Kalk in 1958 and the couple lived in Perch River./ppRichard was a Black-top Operator at General Crush Stone in Watertown and retired after 41 years./ppHe is survived by his wife Patricia who resides at Samaritan Keep Home, a son Richard and Rosalyn Brown Jr. of Perch River, and a daughter Karen and Michael Monahan also of Perch River. He has five grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Two sisters: Patricia Locy of Black River and Debbie Brown of Georgia and a brother Robert Brown of Black River, nieces and nephews also survive./ppFuneral services will be held Thursday October 6th at 2:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. pPoint Pleasant, NJ- Joseph Robert Ramus, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 3, 2016. Mr. Ramus was born at home in his beloved Watertown, New York on Christmas Day, 1931 to Anthony and Margaret (Morrison). He graduated from Watertown High School in 1950 on the day that the Korean War was declared and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for four years aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Bordelon whose crew reunions he attended for 30 years. /ppTaking advantage of the G.I. Bill, Joe enrolled at Saint Lawrence University, Canton, New York from which he graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1958. He began his career in Watertown, moving with the Y.M.C.A. to Troy, New York. Taking a job with the Boys Club of America brought him to Trenton, New Jersey. A short time later Joe joined the Mercer County Welfare Board, now the Mercer County Board of Social Services, and rose through the ranks to end his career as the deputy director in 1995. He resided for many years in Hamilton Township, moving to Point Pleasant after retirement. His heart, however, remained always in the North Country where the family spent many happy summer vacations. For many years Joe was associated with Martin House in Trenton and, in retirement, the school store at Saint Rose High School in Belmar./ppJoseph was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Mary Ellen (Mickey) Malloy and his sister and brother-in-law Anna and Louis Villenueve. /ppHe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Katherine (Safford) and their children, Pamela and Stephen Belton of Mount Holly, Christopher and Allison Ramus of Hopewell, Michael Ramus of Jersey City, and John and Kelly Ramus of Point Pleasant. Also left to mourn his passing are his grandchildren Joshua and Mia Belton and Jacob, Amanda and Abigail Ramus, and his brother and sister-in law John and Iris (Midge) Ramus of Adams Center, NY. Surviving in-laws include his mother-in-law Mary Safford, brother-in-law Leonard and wife Linda Safford of Brentwood, TN, and sister-in-law Mary and husband Christopher Curioli of Bangor, Maine. “Uncle Joe” will be remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews as well as members of the Malloy family./ppRelatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, October 6 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Chase on July 21, 1957 at the Russell United Methodist Church. He was the Bus Mechanic and driver at Knox Memorial Central School and then Edwards Knox Central School, working there until his retirement in 1995. Bernard was very proud of the time he spent serving in the U.S. Air Force and liked to reminisce about those days. He enjoyed making maple syrup, hunting, fishing and watching sports. He loved his dogs Snuggles and Nacho. Bernard was always tinkering on something or cutting wood./ppSurviving is his wife, Phyllis; two sons and their wives, Larry and Carole Jenne of Canton and Gregory and Tara Jenne of Richford, NY; three daughters, Lynn Barnes and her companion Gary Minkler of Black Lake, Lori and Rick Brewer of Canton and Lisa Jenne and her companion Randy Hale of Russell; a brother, Roy and his wife June Jenne of Hermon; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one on the way and several nieces and nephews./ppBernard is predeceased by three brothers, Jerome “Hazy”, Leo and Francis Jenne and a sister, Anna Medford./ppDonations may be made in Bernard’s memory to the SPCA or the V Foundation./p

She is predeceased by her husband Joseph F. Suranni. /ppElizabeth lived in Fort Eustis, VA while her husband Joseph was in the Army. When they moved back to Batavia, she worked for many years at St. Joseph’s School in the cafeteria and was also the food service manager at the Genesee County Nursing Home. The couple resided in Stone Mills for many years./ppJanet worked for Bomax for 33 years as an assembler and retired as a purchasing agent, retiring in the early 90’s. Following her retirement she went back to work for the Watertown Eye Center for 10 years as a receptionist and for Seniors Helping Seniors for a few years./ppShe was a member of the Adams VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed gambling and spending time with her grandchildren./ppAmong her survivors are a son and daughter in law, Francis D. “Corky” and Amelia Stewart, Stone Mills; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Richards, Lyndsey Campbell, Christopher and Joshua Stewart; 4 great grandchildren, Morgin and Brady Richards and Bryson and Briella Campbell; a brother, James N. pWatertown- William A. Horne , age 94, 170 Conger Ave., died at the Samaritan Medical Center on Tuesday, October 4 where he had been admitted on September 27. William was born on May 13, 1922 in Cape Vincent, the son of Allen B. Horne and Winfred Warren. /ppHis parents had a farm on Carleton Island and eventually purchased a farm on the Fox Creek Road in 1940. William took over operation of the farm until selling it in 2009. He moved to St. Anthony Apartments at that time. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and a Third Degree Member of Rosiere Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his cousin, James Warren, Vernon./ppHe will be missed by his many friends at St. Anthony Apartments and also the staff and waitresses at Cracker Barrel where he often dined./ppThe funeral service will be Thursday, October 6 at 12 noon at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home, State Street with the Rev. pEllen M. Fish, 89, longtime resident of Adams, died Monday morning October 3, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter Kelly Charlton, Heuvelton, where she had lived since July 2015. There will be a memorial service 11:00 am Saturday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Adams, with Rev. Jerry Wichelns officiating. Burial will follow in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. An hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 am will precede the service. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. /ppBorn December 21, 1926 in Adams, NY, daughter of Earl H. and Violet (Smith) Timmerman, she graduated from Adams High School. Following graduation she trained in the Cadet Nurse Corps WWII at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, obtaining her LPN license./ppShe married Robert H. Fish of Pierrepont Manor on January 30, 1946. The couple lived on the Wilder Road in Pierrepont Manor, where they owned and operated the family farm. Following the death of her husband on December 25, 1979, she later moved to Adams. /ppShe worked at the former Jefferson County Sanitarium in Watertown for eight years, and then at the Madonna Home from 1963-1985. /ppSurviving is a son, Jorge Fish, SC; one grandson Wayne (Tessa) Latham, Jr., Ogdensburg; two granddaughters, Kelly (Samuel) Charlton, Heuvelton, Kimberly (Brian) Epprecht, Corning; two step grandsons, John Cobb, CA, Kevin Cobb, NC; eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; a son in law, Wayne Latham, Sr., Morristown and a daughter in law, Marilyn Fish, FL./ppShe is predeceased by a daughter Mary Ellen Latham who died in 1997 and a granddaughter Erin Fish./ppShe was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Red Hat Momma’s./ppEllen loved to play cards and enjoyed board games, reading, knitting and crocheting. /ppShe celebrated a wonderful childhood and lived a good life. pLaFargeville and Brownville- The Funeral Service for Bette Lawler Corp, age 77, will be at 2pm on Saturday, October 8th, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. Calling hours will be from Noon until the time of the service./ppA Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery in LaFargeville./ppBette was born December 12th, 1938, in Watertown, the daughter of Joseph and Grace Hagen Davis./ppShe attended LaFargeville Schools./ppBette married Leroy Lawler, who died in 1971. A second marriage to Charles Corp ended in divorce. Her companion of 31 years, Carl Simmons, died in January of this year./ppShe was raised in Stone Mills and moved to Brownville in 1983, where she was employed by Bromax and later Stature Electric where she retired due to ill health in 2003./ppBette enjoyed bowling in various leagues in Watertown. She loved country music, reading, sitting on her front porch, and family get togethers./ppSurviving are four children, Joseph and his daughter Katie of Virginia, John (Lynda) and their daughter Kristen of LaFargeville, Jeffrey (Pam) and their children Ashley, Angela, and Gavin of Pennsylvania, and daughter Janelle (Peter) Segouin, and their children Ryan and Jackie of LaFargeville./ppTwo sons, Jay Lawler and Jackie Fairman, died before her./ppDonations can be made in her name to a charity of ones choice./ppCondolences can be made at trjetty.com/p
