M. Margaret Tracey, 92, formerly of 229 N. School St., died Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Samaritan Summit Village where she has resided since February.
Margaret was born October 11, 1924 in Carthage, the daughter of the late Victor and Florence (McAvoy) Brenon. She attended Augustinian Academy. She married William D. Tracey on January 24, 1948 at St. James Church in Carthage. Margaret worked as an aide for the Carthage Central School District in the cafeteria for many years until her retirement.
She was a volunteer at St. James Parish for years and was a member of St. James Church and the St. James VIP’s.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the Skilled Nursing Unit, 2nd floor at the Samaritan Summit Village for the compassionate care that they gave their mother.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Jean Marie and Patrick Viglucci of Delmar and Mary Ann and James Yuhas of Carthage, a son and his wife: William and Cecilia Tracey of Alpharetta, GA; 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, a sister: Sister M. Victorine (Catherine) Brenon of Watertown and two brothers: Victor Brenon of Midland, TX and Robert Brenon of Henderson, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William D. Tracey, her son, Thomas Tracey, 5 sisters, Anna M. Scott, Sister M. Geraldine, Sister Rita Marie, Veronica Rose Cartin and Dorothy Boughton and a brother, Francis Brenon.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 22 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage with Rev. Christopher J. Looby officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday, August 21 from 4-7pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
