Nancy M. Wright, 74, Rodman widow of Willard J. Wright passed away Tuesday, April 25th at her residence where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Graveside services will be 10 am Saturday, April 29th at Fairview Cemetery, Rodman.

Born in Syracuse, NY, April 22, 1943, she was a daughter to Warren H. and Carol Moore Roberts. She attended school in Sandy Creek, NY and graduated from Port Charlotte High School, Fla. Nancy enjoyed working on the family farm, reading, gardening and working on the family genealogy.
She married Willard J. Wright on February 14, 1964, in Burrville, NY. Mr. Wright died July 19, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Wright, Watertown; 2 grandsons, Seth and Ethan Foster and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she is predeceased by her son, James L. Wright, a brother, James I. Roberts and her sister Betty J. Roberts.

Calling hours for Gilbert J. Miller, 76, of Potsdam will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 11 am to 1 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Immediately following the calling hours will be a time of reflection, to share a memory of Gilbert. Burial will be in the Brick Chapel Cemetery, Canton.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Marianne Noller of Hubbardsville, NY; daughter, Autumn (Dale) Lindsay of Potsdam; by grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Amanda (Justin) Healey and Alanni (Zach) Baldwin; by great-grandchildren, Maxfield Miller, Arianna-Jean Moody, Ryanne-Jean Loren, William and Nathan Healey and MyahJo and Ashton Baldwin. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert (Marlyne) Miller of Colton; Larry (Cheryl) Miller of Madrid; two sisters, Joan (George) Cary of Potsdam; Shirley Miller of Potsdam and several nieces and nephews.
Gilbert was born January 23, 1941 in Potsdam, the son of the late Richard and Elsie (Smith) Miller. He attended a one room school house and graduated from Potsdam High School and from Canton ATC with an associate degree in Criminology. Gilbert served in the US ARMY from 1960 to 1963. On October 12, 1963, Gilbert was married to Jean Wright in Colton; she predeceased him on November 22, 2000. Gilbert worked for the Village of Canton DPW and later became a Village Police Officer, retiring after 32 years in 1995 as a sergeant. Following his retirement, Gilbert became a Master Equine Dentist, retiring in January of 2017. Gilbert married Marianne Noller on April 15, 2017.
He was a long time member of the Center Riding Club, AMVETS Post 282 of Potsdam and the Norwood American Legion. Gilbert loved spending time with Autumn and his grandchildren, they were paramount to him. He also had a love for horses and horseback riding.

David A. Mitchell
NORTH BANGOR – Mr. David A. Mitchell, 61, of McGowan Road, unexpectedly passed away Monday evening, April 24, 2017 at his home.
David was born October 11, 1955 in Potsdam, the son of the late James K. and Sylvia Page Mitchell. He was a 1973 graduate of Potsdam High School and later from the National Tool, Die, and Precision Machining Institute. On October 11, 1980, he married Patricia E. Fonda in West Stockholm.
David first worked for Mitel before going to General Motors, where he was a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker for several years until his retirement. David was an avid outdoor enthusiast, who loved hunting and target shooting. He loved socializing with his many friends and was original organizer of the All Guys Weekends at Weller Mountain, a tradition that has continued for 27 years. He was also a member of the Red Tavern Club in Santa Clara, the 168 Club in Hopkinton, and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman Club. David loved sports and he was a hardcore Jets and Yankees fan.
David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his son, Michael David Mitchell of North Bangor; his brothers, Douglas A. (Joan) Mitchell of Bergen, NY; Dana A. Mitchell (Ronda VanOrman) of Lisbon; and Darren A. (Diane) Mitchell of Waterloo, NY; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia on March 21, 2001 and his father, James on April 8, 2017.
Friends and family may call Saturday 1:00-4:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM with Lay Pastor Martha Helmer, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Robert L. Whitney
Carthage- Robert L. Whitney, 77, of 5184 Lumley Road Ext., died Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017 at home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Lewis County.
Robert was born in Richville on November 10, 1939, the son of the late Clifton and Loura (Keyes) Whitney. He married Beverly J. Brothers on October 31, 1959 in Harrisville. He worked for General Sign’s and drove dump truck for Marcinko’s of Watertown and Les Card in Carthage where he also worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and visiting with his Amish friends.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly J. Whitney of Carthage, three daughters; Mrs. Ricky (Susan) Mashaw of Tennessee, Mrs. Wayne (Tina) Taylor of Harrisville and Mrs. Fred (Debbie) Sauer of Tennessee, 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren, two sisters: Agnes Silsby of Fine and Juanita LaParr of Harrisville and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his two infant daughters, Patricia and Lillian, 2 sisters, Elsie Liscom and Beverly Russell and 5 brothers, Wendell, William, Duane, James and Ronnie Whitney.
His remains will be donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse. The family will have an open house, TODAY, April 28th at their home for family and friends. Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.

Samuel S. Biondolillo
Samuel S. Biondolillo, 88, of Watertown passed away April 26, 2017, at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Mr. Biondolillo was born June 28, 1928, in Watertown, a son of Joseph and Lena DeCarlo Biondolillo. He graduated from Watertown High School. On October 23, 1948, he married Beverly Pfister at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Biondolillo died January 23, 2013.
Mr. Biondolillo served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. As a young man he was employed with the New York Railroad in Canton, NY before moving to Watertown. He retired from Productions Unlimited as a purchasing agent.
Mr. Biondolillo was a member of the Italian American Civic Association and the American Legion Post #61. He enjoyed having coffee at Arby’s with his friends in the morning, reading the Sunday newspaper, crossword puzzles, bowling and playing baseball.
Surviving are a son Timothy (Susan) Biondolillo, Plattsburgh, NY, a daughter Suzanne Belcher, Watertown, six grandchildren, Jason (Barb) Belcher, Chad Belcher, Michael Biondolillo, Jr. all of Watertown, Amy(Will) Rizzo, Virginia, Mia and Samuel Biondolillo, Plattsburg, four great grandchildren, Lucia and Willy Rizzo, Nicole Belcher and Gianni Belcher, A brother Joseph (Kathie) Biondolillo, Watertown, a sister, Pauline Tison, Arcadia, FL, a brother-in-law Kenneth Pfister, Watertown, a sister-in-law, Natalie Thomas, Brewerton, several nieces, nephews and cousins. His son Michael J. Biondolillo died August 14, 2013.
There will be no calling hours. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 am at the D.L. Barbara M. Gunn
Barbara M. Gunn, 74 of County Rte 59 Dexter, passed away Wednesday evening at her home with her family at her side.
Barbara was born October 1, 1942 in Auburn, NY the daughter of Edward and Phyllis Pudlo Wawrzazek.
She graduated from Auburn High School and SUNY Oswego with a teaching degree.
She married Roger W. Gunn on June 29, 1974 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Auburn.
Barbara taught at General Brown Elementary School as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher.
She was a member of NYSUT, Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary and Immaculate Conception Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband Roger and two children and their spouses: Kathleen and James McKeever of Sackets Harbor and Michael and Amy Gunn of Brewerton. Three grandchildren: Katelynn McKeever, Christian McKeever and Gavin Gunn and a sister Jeanne Gurak of Auburn also survive.
Funeral Mass will be Monday 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Helen C. Mullen
Helen C. “Honey” Mullen, 95 of Dexter, passed away at Hospice at Ellis Farm Thursday morning with her family at her side.
Helen was born January 30, 1922 in Little Falls, NY the daughter of Michael and Mary Gaffney Carraher Jr. She graduated from Canton High School and joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a sergeant.
Helen married Paul J. Mullen on April 12, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton, NY where she was working as a Medical Transcriptionist at E.J. Noble Hospital in Canton.
The couple moved to Dexter where they have continued to live. Paul passed away April 11, 2015.
Helen was a member of General Brown Board of Education for 16 years, Dexter Fireman’s Auxiliary President, Dexter Citizen of the Year in 1986 along with her husband, Dexter Citizens’ Committee, Dexter American Legion, Marine Corps League, and Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville.
As a school board member she had the privilege & honor to present her children and grandchildren with their High School diplomas.
Surviving are five children and their spouses: Martha and Michael Heise of Dexter, James and Rebecca Mullen of Port St. Lucie, FL., Michelle and Joseph Roukous of Dexter, Patrick and Diane Mullen of Watertown and Daniel and Wendy Mullen of Williamsburg, VA. She has ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 2nd at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville with Fr. Michael Gaffney officiating at 11:00 am. Rose Blount
Rose Blount, age 92, of Bartow, FL and formerly of Sandy Creek passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Tampa General Hospital of Tampa, FL. Rose was born January 19, 1925 in Boston, MA. She is the daughter of the late David L and the late Jenny Maude (Bryant) Stewart. She married Lynn V Blount on November 11, 1944 at Sandy Creek, NY.
She owned and operated Colonial Court Campground for many years and also was bookkeeper for her husband’s service station. Rose was a member of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She loved music and was active in her church choir.
She is survived by one daughter: Rebecca Pischke of Bartow, FL and two sons: David L (Beverly) Blount of Winterhaven, FL and Steven (Lena) Blount of Lakeland, FL,; 5 grandchildren ;8 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Lynn, brother David Stewart and sister Ella Elizabeth Scott.
The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 29 at Summerville Funeral Home, Inc, 1997 Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek, NY with Rev. Funeral service for Samuel T. Gassert, 72, of Morristown will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm at IslandView Funeral Services, 300 Main Street; Morristown, with Rev. Tom Nichols, officiating. Samuel died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.

Also surviving are a sister, Sonia (Donald) Fisher of Bloomsburg, PA and a niece Heather Walton and Brandon Fisher.
Samuel was born November 12, 2017 in Bloomsburg, PA; the son of the late W. Hanley and Pearl (Shuman) Gassert. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1962. On June 5, 1985, he was joined in marriage to Gail E. Showers in Bloomsburg, PA. Samuel was a carpenter and farmer for most of his life. He also worked in maintenance at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
Samuel enjoyed being outdoors; he loved horses, farming and gardening, but the real joy in his life was when he was spending time with family and his grandchildren.

Joseph W. Queior
Joseph W. Queior, recently of Sarasota, Florida, died on Saturday, April 22. Born on March 8, 1924 in Watertown, NY, he was the son of John and Matilda Touranjeau Queior. After graduating from Watertown High School in January, 1943, he joined the navy and served aboard the destroyer USS Aaron Ward in the Pacific. On August 18, 1945 he married Dora Jean Miller of Watertown in Holy Family Church with the Rev. Paul Brunet officiating. Following WWII, Joseph received degrees from St. Lawrence and Cornell Universities and taught physics and chemistry for 32 years at New Hartford High School where he was chairman of the science department. He was a life member of the National Science Teachers Association, and a Fellow and former president of the New York State Science Teachers Association. After retiring, he and his wife moved first to Chaumont Bay, NY, then to Brunswick, ME. His wife died in 2012 and he moved to Sarasota in 2013.
Over the years Joseph attended many reunions of the USS Aaron Ward crew. Other activities included teaching in the gifted science students program at Colgate University, leadership roles in Boy Scouts and 4-H programs, and membership in the American Legion. His interests included piloting small planes, photography, opera, reading and gardening.
He is survived by three sons and their wives: David J and Linda H Queior of Youngsville, NC, Daniel P and Rev. Margaret M Queior of Montville, ME, and Stephen M. Queior and Katie Bontrager of Sarasota, FL; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
There are no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Patricks in Watertown, NY, with interment of ashes in Glenwood Cemetery. Ike is survived by his wife Candace (Hogan) Balch; sons Allen (Zaida) & Christopher (Marcia) Balch; a daughter-in-law Rebecca Balch; grandchildren, Damien (Jasmine) and Desmond Lawton, Meghan, Tianna, Adriana & Sarah Balch; great-granddaughters Sophia Shaffer & Evie Lawton; sisters-in-law, Jean McFate, Penny (Ed) Nail & Dawn (Dave) Rocktaschel; several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Ivan L. Hollenbeck
Ft. Jackson – Ivan L. “Sparky” Hollenbeck, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena. Arrangements are with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Following Ivan’s wishes there will be no public services.
Born on January 5, 1921 in Ft. Jackson, Ivan is the son of the late Ivan Harrison and Lillie Schwartz Hollenbeck. He attended schools in North Lawrence, Ft. Jackson and St. Regis Falls. He married Virginia McAllister at the Nicholville Parsonage on August 27, 1941 with Rev. Skelton officiating. Virginia passed away on November 17, 1994.
Ivan worked for his father at I. H. Hollenbeck Feed and Coal in Moira, was a rope shovel operator for the Town of Hopkinton, worked at Credle Equipment, worked on the construction of the Adirondack Northway, and retired from Bicknell Bros. Sand and Gravel in Potsdam in 1984. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local # 545; a charter member of the Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Fire Department; a 50 year member of the Nicholville Lodge then Brasher Lodge # 541 F & AM; an honorary member of the Sylvan Falls Club and was a member of the NRA for most of his life.
He is survived by two sons; Jack of North Lawrence and James of Ft. Jackson, five grandchildren, Loren and his companion Jamie Pellerin of Hopkinton, Crystal and Mike Smith of Ft. Jackson, Melanie Kingston of North Lawrence, Jake Hollenbeck and Shelby Hollenbeck, both of Ft. Jackson, six great grandchildren; James, Cheyenne and Travis Hollenbeck, Arleigh and Jack Smith and Noah Eakins, a sister in law Elizabeth “Betty” McAllister of Ft. Jackson and many nieces and nephews. Ivan was predeceased by his wife, one great grandson, Gaige Smith and a daughter in law, Sharon Hollenbeck.

Marjorie J. Rock
Graveside service with military honors will be held for Marjorie J. Rock, Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army, on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1pm at Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton, NY. Marjorie began her military career during World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy with the US Army Nurse Corps.
A longtime resident of Ogdensburg, Marjorie passed away on February 10, 2017 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, NY.
The Reverend Mother Kathryn Boswell of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Norwood who serves residents at Maplewood as well as the Reverend Father Michael O’Donnell of her home parish, St. John’s Church in Ogdensburg, will be officiating.
