Maurice “Buddy” D. Mitchell of Valatie passed away October 8, 2017 at the Pine Haven Nursing Home. Born September 26, 1937 in Hudson, NY he was the son of the late Maurice and Beatrice North Mitchell.

Survived by his children Rhonda, Kevin (Janeen) and Stephanie (Bert) Poucher. He was predeceased by his wife Ann and his son Russell.

Calling hours will be Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 1pm to 2:30pm at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham, where a religious service will be celebrated at 2:30.

Massena: Robert E. Cowles, 87, Hidy Avenue, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice. There will be no public calling hours or funeral service.

Bob was born on January 25, 1930 in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of the late Gradon and Alzina (Estes) Cowles. He attended school in Au Sable Forks, NY and later Kimball Union in New Hampshire and following graduation Middlebury College in Vermont. Bob enlisted in the US Army serving in the Mountain and Cold Weather 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale in Colorado. Upon returning home, Bob was the owner of DaMar Dairy in Mexico, NY. He later became a member of the 273 Pipe Fitters in Oswego, NY and retired after 20 years. Bob married Nancy Martin 1956 in Mexico NY, the marriage later ended in divorce. He later married Marlene Dudash on December 17, 1974 in Adams, NY.

“Big Mink,” as he was known by his friends, was a charter member of the Mexico Lions Club, past president of the Rip Collins Association to establish the construction of Little League fields in Mexico, NY, and a member of the Mexico Fire Department for twelve years. He also was the founder of the Tini Time Club in Cranberry Lake, a member of the Weller Mountain Club in Parishville and the Merry Go Round Club in Lyon Mountain as well as a NYS hunting guide in Cranberry Lake. Bob also belonged to the American Legion Post #79, Amvets Post #4 and the VFW Post #1143.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene; a son, Martin Cowles and significant other Starlene Burton of Mexico, NY; step children, Marlene Burch, Russell Yablonski and Kristine Whitcomb of Massena; grandchildren, Shamalenea, Miles and Lacey Cowles, Zachary Whitcomb, Jolene, Michael and Shantel; a sister, Nancy Petrushaue of Lyon Mountain.

Memorial contribution in Bob’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice or an act of kindness towards somebody else.

Diane Hutchinson presiding. A burial will follow the service at Bixby Cemetery. Ms. Harriman passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Born in Massena, NY on March 16, 1927 to the late Harry and Nellie Black Harriman, Ella was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. Ella is survived by her sister, Irene Martin in New Jersey as well as her beloved nieces, nephews and church family. She was pre-deceased by her parents and a sister, Eva Harriman. Marilyn K. Adams, 93, of Watertown, widow of William B. Adams and co-founder and charter board member of the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, passed away Sunday evening October 8th at the Samaritan Medical Center.

The funeral will be 10 am Friday October 13th at the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Thursday October 12th from 4 pm - 7 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.

Born in Hudson, NY on March 20, 1963, he was the son of Albert and Catherine (Brazee) Charron. Pepper was a self-employed contractor and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by his wife Denise M. (Perez) Charron at home, sons: Robert Perez, Justin Perez, Joshua Charron, James Charron and Devon Charron, daughter Jasmine Charron, brothers: Russell Lockenwitz and Albert Charron Jr., sisters: Janice Murphy, Yvonne Schumann and Rose Gambacorta, and his granddaughter Madelyn Jill Hapeman. He was pre-deceased by brothers: Chucky and Punchy Lockenwitz and one sister Becky Garrison. Mary is survived by her five children, Stacy Cardinell, of Ogdensburg, Terry Cardinell, of Hammond, Stephanie Cardinell, of Michigan, Charles Dixon, of Hammond and Michael Dixon, of Statesboro, Georgia; five sisters, Kathy Gooding, Darlene White, Holly Robinson, Carol Lane all of Georgia, and Judy Jenkins of Kansas; two brothers, Wilber Williams, of Ogdensburg and James Williams, of Gerogia; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Cardinell, in 2014 and a brother, Simon Williams.

Mary was born on December 31, 1946, in Statesboro, Georgia, the daughter of Lewis and Ouida Branson Williams. She attended Marvin Pittman High school in Georgia. She graduated from Mater Dei College with a degree in secretarial science in 1990. Mary married Donald C. Cardinell in South Carolina in 1970. Mary retired as an administrative secretary at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, NY.

Mary enjoyed playing cards and taking care of her family.

Massena: Richard W. Smith, age 61, passed away after a courageous fight with brain cancer early Sunday morning (Oct. 8, 2017) at Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family. Friends and family are welcome to call at the Phillips Memorial Home Tuesday Oct. 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Mark Reilly presiding. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena.

Richard was born to the late Kenneth and Pauline (Fregoe) Smith on May 10, 1956 in Massena. He was a graduate of Massena Central and began work after graduation at Alcoa. He retired after 33 years of service from the P/T Lab. Richard was married to Joyce Simpson at their home on Dec 31, 1999. Richard enjoyed traveling and wintering in Coco Beach, FL, where they enjoyed spending time with their many good friends. He would also be found spending time in Martha’s Vineyard, MA.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, his brother in-laws, Harold and Jane Simpson, of Bloomington, IN, David and Sandy Simpson, Thomas and Joan Simpson, Raymond and Christi Simpson and a sister in-law Sharon and Ralph Cash all of Massena, NY. Also surviving Richard are cousins Roxanne and Ed Roberts, Albert and Yvonne Nicola, Joel and Maryanne Nicola Jess and Eugene Sharpe and Diane Nicola. Along with several nieces and nephews. Richard was a member of The Massena B.P.O.E Lodge # 1702, and the Alcoa 25 year Club.

Raymond Seager

Raymond F. Seager Sr., age 82, of West Athens, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, at home. He was born April 1, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Walter and Irene (Burmeister) Seager. Raymond served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Carole Ann Seager on April 26, 2017.

Raymond is survived by three children, Donna Edge and husband James of Coxsackie; Brenda Turner and husband Michael of Charleston; Raymond F. Seager Jr. and wife Bridget of Climax; 8 grandchildren, James (Carman) Edge, Robert (Carolina) Edge, Nicole Deyo, Jessica Deyo, Ryan Hayner, Ashley (Daniel) Stipe, Maranda Seager; three great-grandchildren, Khale, Ethan, and Mia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. As per Raymond’s request there will be no formal calling hours, and services will be held privately by the family.

Louise Finch, age 61 years, formerly of Albany and Coxsackie, N.Y. passed away on October 6, 2017 in Catskill, N.Y. after a long courageous battle with breast cancer.

Louise was born on August 6, 1956 in Catskill, N.Y., and is the daughter of the late Earle and Margaret Muller.

She graduated from Coxsackie-Athens CSC (1975) and Columbia-Greene Community College, and attended SUNY IT. Louise was employed for many years in the business office of St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

Louise loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible.

Louise is survived by he siblings: Anne Matson, Evelyn (Thomas) Russo, and Robert Muller III; her nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own: Christina Muller (Justin) Thomas (Agenta) Russo, Tara (Eric) Bachner, Peter (Alison) Russo, Michael Matson, Zachary Muller, Maggie Matson and Matthew Muller. She is also survived by her stepmother Rosemary Muller, stepbrothers Bruce (Keely) Baxter and Richie Baxter, and a stepsister Jane Baxter Hartshorne, as well as her great -nephews and great -nieces; Kylie Kiernan, Torrin, Abigail, Aislin and Owen.

Louise was a unique soul. Along with spending time with her family she enjoyed reading playing games on her computer, watching her soap opera and needle work. She is now in The Lord’s caring arms and will always be in her families’ hearts forever.

Besides her parents, Louise is predeceased by her brother David Muller; her step-father Robert Muller Jr., and her brother-in-law Mark Matson.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at The W. C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, N.Y. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. , with funeral services taking place at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Snowden of The community Life Church in Catskill, N.Y. officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot of The Riverside Cemetery, Coxsackie, N.Y.

The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care that Louise received at Greene Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center this past year.

Loretta A. Erdner

Loretta A. Erdner, 83, of Seymour St., went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2017, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm.

Loretta was born September 18, 1934, in Watertown, NY, daughter of Secondo and Angelina Depoto Bocciolatt. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1953. Loretta worked briefly for the New York Telephone Company.

She married Joseph O. Erdner on August 18, 1956, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Joseph Francor officiating.

Loretta was a devout catholic, attending mass daily. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister and Director of Religious Education for many years. She completed a formation for ministry with the Diocese of Ogdensburg. Loretta was a member of the Legion of Mary, founded the Third Order of St. Francis in Watertown and was a member of Home Bureau.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, writing poetry, cooking and serving her community. Loretta authored a book ‘A Companion on my Journey’.

Surviving besides her husband Joseph, of sixty one years, are; three sons, Mike (Sue), Adams, Jim (Cheryl) Huntsville, Alabama, Paul (Terri), Watertown, a daughter, Kathy Mancini, Watertown, a sister Carol (David) Nims, Watertown, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her daughter Jan Marie Erdner, three brothers, Francis Bocciolatt, Carmen Bocciolatt, Robert Bocciolatt and six sisters, Marceline Davis, Henrietta Biondolillo, Annmarie Niewieroski, Rosemary Inabinet, Dorothy Dietterich and Theresa Capone, died before her.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Jonas Tandayu officiating. Frances Anne Gaddipati

The Hon. Frances Anne Gaddipati, born Guest, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Albany Medical Centre on Thursday October 5th, after a bravely fought battle with multiple myeloma.

Frances was born on November 18th 1942 in London, second child and only daughter of Lady Mabel and Lord Ivor Grosvenor Wimborne. She grew up with her brothers Ivor, Julian and Charles in the family properties in Northamptonshire and Scotland.

After completing her education in England, Frances married and moved to New York with her first husband, and subsequently moved to Germantown NY with her second husband Rao Gaddipati.

This marriage proved a happy and successful one for over thirty years, and provided Frances with the environment in which to flourish as a much valued and deeply loved member of the local community, as a wonderful gardener and creator of a beautiful home, and as stepmother to Rana Glickman and Indira Gaddipati and step-grandmother to Ismail. In addition she was an indispensable source of support and wisdom to her English relatives, especially her nieces and nephews Kate, Will and Henry Guest, and the Hon. Ilona Hilton-Johnson and the present Lord Wimborne.

Frances is survived by her brothers Julian and Charles, and her husband Rao.

She will be very greatly missed on both sides of the Atlantic.

There will be a celebration of her life held at Central House Inn, 220 Main Street, Germantown NY

on Thursday 12th of October at 4.30pm.

Reginald A. Denegar, Jr.

Reginald A. Denegar, Jr., 88, died Sunday October 8, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.

Born December 12, 1928 in Germantown, he was the son of the late Reginald A. Denegar, Sr. and Evelyn O. (Coons) Denegar.

He had graduated from Germantown Central School and Albany Business College.

He was with International Harvester in Menands for 19 years and then with Key Bank Operations unit until his retirement in 1990.

Mr. Denegar served in the active Naval Reserve for 10 years, was a member of the Germantown Reformed Church for 60 years, a 50 year member of the Germantown Hose Co. #1, and a good friend of the Loudonville Presbyterian Church for over 30 years.

He was an avid student of the world and particularly of American History. He loved animals and supported many organizations devoted to animal welfare.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores, who died Feb. 2, 2013.

Calling will be 12 to 2 pm Wednesday at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home of Germantown. Services will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Reformed Church Cemetery of Germantown.
