pCHAUMONT- Eileen Marion Docteur, 99, passed away April 3, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home of Chaumont, NY. /ppCalling hours will be 10-11 AM held on Thursday April 7, 2016 at the All Saints Church of Chaumont located at 27396 Madison Street, Chaumont, NY, 13622. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Pierre Aubin officiating. /ppEileen was born on Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada on March 22, 1917. The daughter of Robert and Catherine McKenna Yott./ppShe came to Cape Vincent, NY, across the frozen St. Lawrence River with her parents and several siblings in a sleigh driven by a team of horses on February 23, 1923. She lived in the Cape Vincent area all her life and attended several country schools. /ppEileen married Harvey W. Docteur of Cape Vincent on August 4, 1941 at St. Vincent of Paul, Cape Vincent with Father Thomas Owens officiating. She and Harvey owned and operated a farm in the Town of Cape Vincent for 30 years. After the sale of the farm to their sons, she and Harvey moved to Chaumont, NY. Eileen then worked at Bomax in Watertown for three years and later in the cafeteria at Lyme Central School. Harvey passed away on February 16, 1988./ppEileen was a communicant of All Saints Church where she was very active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and jigsaw puzzles. /ppEileen is survived by her children; Verna Docteur of Chaumont, NY, Sharon and William Brown of Chaumont, NY, Donald and Wava Docteur of Cape Vincent, NY, and Dennis Docteur of Cape Vincent, NY. Nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Lillian Mason whom resides at Samaritan Summit Village./ppEileen is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Catherine Yott, and her husband, Harvey Docteur. A daughter, Carolyn Ann Boyle. Four brothers; Howard Yott, Victor Yott, Bernard Yott and R. Elwin Yott. Navarra at St. Anthony’s Church./ppHe had worked as a loan officer for Watertown Savings Bank. He was a salesman for most of his career, working for Consolidated Freight, Oneida Trucking, Fucillo’s, Caprara’s and Dealmaker, retiring in 2009. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. Nick was a current member of Elks Lodge 496 and a former member of the Italian American Club. He was an avid golfer, but most important in his life was family and socializing with his friends./ppAlong with his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his daughter and her husband, Nichole M. and Peter J. Moles, Syracuse; his son and his companion, Rocco P. Canale and Jessica Allen, Watertown; two grandchildren, Sullivan R. Moles and Eleanor C. Moles, both of Syracuse; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His father, Rocco, died November 1, 1995, his mother, Honey, on September 10, 2008, and his sister, Marcia Canale-Bracken, on December 24, 2001./ppIn lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the Rocco P. pOGDENSBURG-Funeral services for Merlyn “Mert” M. Haynes, 79, of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday April 7, 2016 at 11 A.M. at the LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home (formerly Allen-Nichols Funeral Home) 324 New York Avenue, Ogdensburg with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2016 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery at a later date./ppMr. Haynes died Saturday evening April 2, 2016 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center following a long illness./ppArrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home./ppMerlyn or “Mert” as he was known, was born on August 26, 1936 in Lisbon, NY. He was the son of the late Melvin and Mildred (Moore) Haynes. After completing his education, Mert served in the United States Army from 1952-1953. On May 1, 1971 he married Elaine LeDuc at the First United Methodist Church of Ogdensburg. Elaine passed away on September 7, 1977. /ppFor the majority of his career he was an attendant at the State Hospital in Ogdensburg. He also operated a driveway sealing business in Ogdensburg. Mert was a member of the American Legion Post 69, past Commander of the AMVETS Post 19 and a volunteer driver for the D.A.V. organization and was honored for his 5,864 hours of volunteer service. He was member of the Ogdensburg Acacian Lodge #128 Free and Accepted Masons, the Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge 814 and the B.P.O.E Lodge #772. Mert enjoyed playing Horseshoes in the Ogdensburg Greenbelt Horseshoe League. Mert loved his family and truly enjoyed getting together and sharing a meal. /ppHe is survived by his stepson; Clarence “Butch” LeDuc, his uncle; Maynard Moore and his niece Carolyn Anne Haynes. Also surviving are his cousins; Winona Baloga and her husband Jack of Hazle Township, PA, Michael and Sherrill Moore of Lisbon, Donna Montanna of Texas, Gary Wright of Potsdam, Michelle Moore Burr of Lisbon and Rosemarie Moore of Texas. Stefanie passed away Friday evening at her home in Florida with her family by her side. /ppSurviving are three sons: Reinhold Tischler (MaryAnn), Gerhard Tischler (Barbara) and Edward Tischler, all of Potsdam, a daughter Ingrid Tischler-DeTorres (Bill DeTorres) of Celebration, FL; grandchildren: Erika Ryerson, Kaeley Tischler, Alissa Tischler, Brendan Tischler, Alexis Tischler, Isabella DeTorres, Luca DeTorres, Zachary Debo, Matthew Debo, Emma Feinen; great-grandchildren: Harper, Madigan and Bruce. Stefanie was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, Albin Tischler, and three sons: Roland, Arthur and Robert; three brothers: Josef Hassler, and two prior to her birth, three sisters: Olga Duciewicz, Gisela Gotsch and Eugenia Roliczek./ppMrs. Tischler was born on August 8, 1932 in Czernauca, Romania to the late Stefan and Maria Panczyszyn Hassler. She married Albin Tischler on November 19, 1949 in Linz, Austria. Stefanie began her career as a kindergarten teacher in Austria prior to coming to the United States in 1957. She became a proud citizen of the United States in 1968, along with her husband and two of their sons, Reinhold and Gerhard. Stefanie worked at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide and later became a Physical Therapy Aide at the hospital and then at Community Physical Therapy, before retiring. She moved to Florida in 2012./ppStefanie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, traveling, and was a self-taught seamstress and upholsterer. In addition to working full-time, Stefanie and her husband devoted their lives to caring for their three sons afflicted with Muscular Dystrophy. The Prometheus Fraternity at SUNY Potsdam played a major role in assisting the family for almost twenty years. He graduated from Bellwood Antis High School in 1949 and then went on to graduate from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA in 1953, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering./ppBill was the Vice President of Engineering at the Newton Falls Paper Mill in Newton Falls, NY, where he worked for 17 years until his retirement in 1997. He had previously worked at West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company of Tyrone and Williamsburg, PA, and at Hammermill Paper Company in Erie, PA. Bill was the treasurer of the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation in Wanakena and during that time he was active in the growth of the hospital and the acquisition of the Adirondack Pharmacy. He was appointed by the Town of Fine to serve on the Clifton-Fine Hospital Board of Directors, where he served for twelve years, including a period of time as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was past member of the Lion’s Club, present member of the Local Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers. He always enjoyed a challenging engineering project, and took pride in building and using his raft for enjoyment on Star Lake. /ppBill married Barbara R. Crosland on April 16, 1955 in Bethlehem, PA. She passed away on March 15, 1959. He married Sandra Lee Showalter on August 26, 1961 in Williamsburg, PA. Sandra passed away on September 14, 1991. Bill married Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Trevithick Tyson on September 6, 1997./ppSurviving are his wife, Beth; two daughters and their husbands, Felicia and Robert Morrice and Patricia Hunter and Darwin Kysor; Beth’s two daughters, Patricia and Paul Sokol and Suzanne Fancher; a sister, Nancy Melisi; six grandchildren, Roman, Connor, Summer, and Pierce Hunter-Kysor, Zachary Sokol, and Suzielyn Fancher; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey, and he was known affectionately as “Papa” by Kaddie, Jahna, and Kenny./ppBill is predeceased by a daughter, Clarissa “Carrie” Hunter-Tate, a granddaughter, Riley Schmidt Hunter-Kysor; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn, and a brother-in-law, Stephen Melisi./ppDonations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Wilderness Health Care Foundation of Clifton-Fine Hospital, Star Lake Fire and Rescue, or to St. Hubert’s Catholic Church. /p

pWatertown- Shirley A. Gilmore’s sunset happened Wednesday, April 6th at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse following complications from a motor-vehicle accident. She was 77 years old./ppHer sunrise was September 5, 1938 in Watertown, and was a daughter to Harry J. and Ida Belle (White) Stevens. She was educated locally. /ppOn October 6, 1956 she married Dalton D. Gilmore at her sister’s home in Watertown with the Rev. William A. Wilbur officiating. Mr. Gilmore passed away Monday, September 7, 1992 at House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown./ppShirley was a member of the Watertown Eagles, the American Legion Post 61, the North Side Improvement League, and the Black River Fiddlers. She enjoyed playing bingo and gambling./ppShe is survived by two children, Susan and Melvin Chandler of Mississippi, William Scott Gilmore and companion Tammy Narrow of Watertown; and 6 grandchildren, Katrina Funchess, Melvin R. Chandler, Cassandra Chandler, Marvin Chandler, William Gilmore, Kimberly Gilmore. She is also survived by 6 siblings, 9 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family./ppBesides her parents and husband, Shirley is predeceased by a son, Mark D., who passed away at the age of eight months in 1957./ppThe funeral will be 6:00pm Friday, April 8th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. She married John Graves on October 20, 1946 at the Dexter Parsonage. She and her husband resided in Watertown where she raised five children. Her husband worked at St. Regis Paper Co., retiring in 1987. He passed October 8, 2002. /ppFreida enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting, crocheting, traveling, tour boat rides on the St. Lawrence River and feeding the ducks and geese from her hotel balcony in Alex Bay. /ppShe is survived by two sons and daughter In law, James S. Graves, her primary caregiver in her later years, Watertown, Terry and Bernadette Graves, NY; three daughters: Suzette J. pHubert (Cubie) M. Carpenter, 70, of Hermon, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home at 155 West Rd. Hermon, NY./ppServices will be held Saturday, April 9th, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 75 East Main St, Canton. The Church will be open from 11am-1pm with a service at 1pm. Reverend Brian Drury will be officiating/ppArrangements have been entrusted to North Country Cremation Service./ppCubie was born in Canton to Hubert and Laura (Roberts) Carpenter on May 8, 1945. He went to high school at Herman Dekalb, NY. He was employed at St. Lawrence University in maintenance and also worked for St. Lawrence County before starting work for the Town of Hermon for 30 Years and retired in 2001./ppCubie loved being with his grandchildren, especially on every-other Wednesday’s when they would take the garbage to the dump, and then go for treats at Stewarts in Gouverneur. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, (mostly from the back porch). There were always things to laugh at and songs they would sing in the truck. In the past few years he and his wife enjoyed traveling with the Canton Senior Group./ppCubie is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Liz). Cubie gained three children when he married Liz in May 1988. James Waugh and wife Debi, Glens Falls, Thomas Waugh, Richville, and Katherine and John Whiteford of Herman. He also has grandchildren, Abe Waugh, Courtney and Jake Dies, Colorado, Donald, Hannah, Mason, Abigail, Hayden, and Sophie Whiteford, Hermon, NY. He has one brother, Ed Carpenter and wife Kathy, Hermon, NY and a sister, Lori Carpenter, Hermon, NY./ppA cousin, Mike Vereshek, Redwood, is one of Cubie’s favorite people to hang out with when he was younger and as the years progressed their friendship was always to give each other many laughs and tell how things were way back when…./ppHe is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hubert and Laura (Roberts) Carpenter. pCOPENHAGEN -- Elizabeth (Betty) Huff LaBarge, passed away on April 6th, 2016 on her 91st Birthday. Betty was a beloved mother and grandmother to 11 children, 34 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. /ppBorn in Watertown, NY in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mary Edna Piteau Huff. She grew up in Carthage and graduated in 1942 from Augustinian Academy. Betty moved to Copenhagen after graduation to manage the Grand Union Grocery Store where she met her future husband, Donald LaBarge. They were married on September 4th 1944 and resided in Copenhagen at 10214 Washington St all their married life. After Donald passed on August 3rd 1990, she continued to live there until she became a resident of Lewis County Extended Care Facility in 2014. /ppBetty is survived by nine of her children and their spouses. Daniel (Barb), Holley, NY, Jerome (Penny), Patrick (Vicky), Peggy (Lynn) Murray, Francis (Jill) all of Copenhagen. Mary (John) Astafan Carthage, Cathleen Freeman (Gerald), Jim (Bonnie), Rutland, Jackie (Dave) Burt Adams Center. A sister Nancy Guyette, Little Suamico, Wisconsin, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. /ppShe worked as a waitress at various businesses including the former Howard Johnsons Restaurant for seventeen years. /ppAs a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, Copenhagen, Betty was involved in the Annual Turkey Supper, The Alter Rosary Society, and taught religious education. She was a Charter Member of the Copenhagen Firemen’s Auxiliary for 69 years, a member of the Floyd Lyng American Legion Auxiliary Unit 723, a lifetime member of the Holley VFW, and the Marine Corps League, Lowville. /ppBetty enjoyed her flower gardens, reading and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed seeing the great grandchildren. Her face would light up whenever they were around. /ppShe was predeceased by her husband Donald, a son Thomas, a daughter Anne Marie LaBarge Wagner, two grandsons, Ryan LaBarge and Joseph LaBarge, a great grandson Alex Hermanson, two brothers Bernard Huff and Carlton Huff, and four sisters, Margaret Segovis, Joan Avallone, Barbara Santamour and Patricia Swafford. /ppFuneral arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., with calling hours to be held from 3 pm to 7 pm on Friday April 8th at Copenhagen Chapel, 10229 Washington St. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, NYS Rte. 12, Copenhagen, on Saturday April 9th at 11 am with Father Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. /ppIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ryan J.
