Gaffney, 106, of Thompson Blvd., passed away January 26, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center./ppMrs. Gaffney was born August 31, 1909 in Watertown a daughter of Joseph M. and Flora Bence Dangerfield. She graduated from Watertown Business School. In 1930, she married Aldion F. Gaffney. He died in 1962. Mrs. Gaffney and her husband owned and operated Gaffney Hardware Store on State Street for many years. She was the office manager and bookkeeper for her son’s dental office until his retirement. /ppSurviving is her son; Dr. Robert T. Gaffney, Watertown. Her husband and a daughter, Cheryl died before her./ppA private prayer service will be held at the D.L. Washer, passed away at her residence Tuesday, January 26th where she was surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. She was 70 years old./ppBorn in Watertown November 16, 1945 Judy was a daughter to William Frederick and Marion Elizabeth LaMora Fish. She was educated in the Watertown City School District. Over her career, Judy was employed by Bomax, Car Freshner, and Bradley Military. She would eventually retire from Venus Swimwear in Dexter./ppOn April 4, 1970 she married Robert J. “Bob” Washer at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Watertown. /ppJudy was a member of the Glen Park Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, crafts, and sewing./ppSurviving besides her husband, Robert, are 2 daughters, Barbara (Helen) Witham Washer of Glen Park, Christine E. Hullender of Charlotte, NC; and a son, James F. and Julie Washer of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 5 grandpuppies./ppBesides her parents, Marion and William, Judy is predeceased by 3 brothers, William, Carlton, and James Fish; a sister, Janet Elaine Brannick; and a grandson, Brent Michael Rexford./ppServices and internment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. pRichard Good, 84 of Haines City, Fl., formally of Watertown passed away Monday January 25, 2016 after a brief illness. Richard was born January 13,1932 to the late John E. and Hazel Good. He married Emily R. Curtis on January 24, 1959. Emily passed away on October 31, 2007. Apon graduating from Watertown High School, Richard enlisted in the Army serving 3 years during the Korean War. He later returned to Watertown where he was employed by Marine Midland Bank, Massey’s Furniture Barn and retiring in 1992 from the New York Airbrake. Surviving is a daughter Patricia (Mark) Schneider, Gloversville, N.Y., two sons, John Good, Stockbridge, Ga., and Rick (Brenda) Good, Winter Haven, Fl., 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Richard was proceeded in death by his wife, Emily, a son, Herbert Curtis, a daughter, Martha Jackson and two brothers, Howard Good and Frank Good. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. /p

Beyer, 46, Thurmond, NC, formerly of Copenhagen, NY, passed away earlier this month in his North Carolina home - investigation pending./ppA memorial service will be held this Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 10:30 am until 12 noon at River of Life Fellowship church, 9871 Number Three Rd, Copenhagen (corner of NYS 12 and Number Three Rd). According to Todd’s wishes, his ashes will remain in the Tug Hill region./ppTodd was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. Todd was a sports fan; his favorite football team was the Buffalo Bills. His two boys and granddaughter were the light of his life; although his hopes and dreams were not realized, through his children and grandchild, they are./ppTodd was born in Watertown, NY on April 6, 1969. He is survived by his parents, Glenn Beyer, and Mary & Olin Lyndaker, all of Copenhagen, NY; two sons, Brady and Jared, and their mother Melissa Austin of Strum, WI, and one granddaughter, Rori Beyer. /ppHe was predeceased by a sister, Jody (Beyer) Parry in 2010./ppHe is survived by two sisters; Tammy (Beyer) McConnell, of Hastings, NE and her five children, Bambi (Beyer) Riccio and husband Scott of Copenhagen, NY, and their three children; two brothers, Terry Beyer, Sr. and wife Kimberly, of Ogden, KS, and their five children, and Brian Lyndaker, Copenhagen, NY, and his daughter. Weideman, 88, of 116 LeRoy St., Potsdam, passed Wednesday morning, January 27th, at home where she was under the care of her family and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. /ppBorn May 11, 1927 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Ambrose T. and Hazel D. (Coscomb) Canaan, she attended Watertown schools. /ppShe worked as a clerk at Newberry’s Department Store and other Watertown retailers until her marriage. She married Eugene E. Weideman of Ravenna, Ohio on November 24, 1949 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. /ppFollowing their marriage, the couple resided in Ravenna, Ohio from 1949 and returned to Watertown in 1950. Upon returning to Watertown she worked part time at the Watertown Roller Rink until 1959 when the couple moved to Brownville. Pug worked for the General Brown Central School district for almost 30 years. Starting in 1964, she was a lunch room cashier and monitor at the Brownville Elementary School and then joined the custodial staff at the General Brown High School in 1977 where she was a favorite of both teachers and students. She finally retired in 1993./ppFor more than 15 years, she was the director of the Village of Brownville playground program where she became the daytime “Mom” for more than 60 village kids every day for six weeks during summer breaks. /ppPug was also known for her many cake creations that graced local weddings, showers, birthday parties, and other special occasions. Her other interests included arts and crafts and painting. /ppShe moved to Potsdam in 1994 and resided with her daughter, Rebecca, until her death./ppShe is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Patricia Weideman and John Graefe, Newmarket, NH and Rebecca and Michael Dufour, Potsdam; two sisters, Myrtle Benway of Watertown and Katherine Burke of Greece, NY; two brothers, Timothy Canaan of Watertown and Perley Canaan of Dewitt, IA. /ppBesides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Eugene E. Weideman on November 16, 1979 and 11 siblings: Eleanor(Pat) Callahan, Emma LaCroix, Bernice Wilson, Opal Canaan, Julia Peck, Eunice Jeffers, Francis Canaan, and Gerald Canaan; Kenneth, Dorothy, and Patricia all died in infancy. /ppShe is also survived by Tana Rojas and Alberto Solervicens, her American Field Service daughter and her husband, of Chillan, Chile. Morrison, age 73, of Linwood Road, overcame his final battle on February 1, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital. /ppHe was born June 25, 1942 in Watertown, NY, a son of the late Henry and Virginia Ward Morrison. /ppHe enjoyed being a husband and a dad, but loved being a “Papa” to his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed watching most sports, horseracing, and playing poker and euchre. He also liked to travel and look for that next “new car deal.”/ppHe is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Dolores “Dodie” Hadley Morrison; his children, Laura (Todd) Ward of LeRoy and Jeffery (Julie) Morrison of Chili; his grandchildren, Tyler Ward, Zachary Ward, Hannah Morrison and David Morrison; his brothers, David (Patti) Morrison of Fairport, Terry Morrison of FL and William Morrison of FL; special niece Kelly (Chris) Jahn and their children, Simon and Anna; special nephew Matthew (Michelle) Morrison, along with other nieces and nephews. pMichael Barrows passed away unexpectedly, February 1, 2016 while enjoying a sunny day on his land; his family and friends will greatly miss his strength, humor, and generosity./ppMike was born in LaRochelle, France on May 22, 1955 to Phillip and Velma Barrows. He and his family were stationed in many locations, but his fondest memories were of the times he spent fishing and exploring on his grandmother’s farm in Bumpville, Pennsylvania. /ppMike began his working career while still in high school, saving his earnings to purchase his own car – a classic 1956 Chevy. He enlisted in the Marines and was stationed in Viet Nam, serving honorably from April 1, 1974 to March 31, 1978. On June 26, 2004, he married Sarah Algie at the Sentinel Band Stand in Sackets Harbor, NY. He then began working as a Maintenance Foreman for the Department of Defense at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, transferring to Fort Drum in 1998, and retiring in 2010./ppAlthough retired, Mike was even busier, volunteering his time to help others, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children, driving and recruiting for the Disabled American Veteran services, driving for the Volunteer Transportation Services, fundraising for the United Way, and helping both the Junior Golf League and State Park System. He and his wife just completed foster care training to nurture children in crisis. His interests also kept him occupied. Mike was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. If something needed fixing, Mike was always there to the rescue. As a dedicated sports fan, Mike rooted for his teams – the Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and New England Patriots. /ppMike’s family was close to his heart – especially his nieces and nephews. Holidays were the highlight of the year, as they were spent with relatives. /ppMike was predeceased by his father, Philip, and brother, Greg. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, his mother, Velma, a step daughter, Katherine Kutnick, his sisters, Kathleen Schaeffer and Stephanie Barrows, his sister in law, Sandra, and his brother, Philip, Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. /ppCalling hours will be Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 2-5pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:30 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Leon Schilling officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bumpville Cemetery.
